Ravens won't be adding any vet receivers. After TJ and Evans failures....failures that cost this team on the field...well..I want to see us stay young and fast at that position and try to grow our own.

The Redskins released Jabar Gaffney on Tuesday. The Texans later parted ways with Jacoby Jones.

Will the Ravens be interested?

During a live chat with fans, Ravens Director of Player Personnel Eric DeCosta indicated they arenot.

“I think at this point we’re happy with the receivers we have on the roster,” he said. “We expect big things this year from David Reed and Tandon Doss. It’s unlikely that we’ll look for any receivers on the streets.”

The Ravens traded for wide receiver Lee Evans last August. They signed T.J. Houshmandzadeh in September the year before.

But after drafting two wide receivers (Torrey Smith and Doss) and retaining another (LaQuan Williams) as an unrestricted free agent last year, it appears Baltimore will stick with its youth this season.

Asked who has the best chance of winning the third spot, DeCosta said it was a good question.

“I’d say Tandon Doss or David Reed,” DeCosta said. “It’ll be a dogfight between Tandon, David Reed and LaQuan Williams. This offseason will be very important for all three players.”

DeCosta said he wants to see Streeter contribute on special teams early and make consistent improvement throughout the year.

“He’s a young player with freakish skills,” DeCosta said of the 6-foot-5 Miami product. “He needs refinement and maturity, but so do many of our players. We’re confident that he’ll take a jump with NFL coaching and another year of maturity.”

Another good point related to this topic...

When your team ranks in the top 10 in the league in rushing offense, rushing defense and passing defense but is just 19th in passing offense, the numbers are telling you where you need to get better, right?

With that in mind, they’re left with essentially the same complement of wideouts they had last season – actually minus one with Lee Evans gone. They didn’t add a receiver in free agency, didn’t use a high draft pick on one, and while the season doesn’t begin for months, leaving them plenty of time to jimmy with the roster, it’s hard to see where that new juice for the passing game will come from.

There's no excuse for being 19th. "Come on man!"

The new juice has to come from developing who they have and more creative routes and combination packages.

They just added a choker...Jacoby Jones...

Ironically, Jones may have sealed his fate with the Texans when he fumbled twice, losing one of them in their 20-13 loss to the Ravens in an AFC divisional playoff game at M&T Bank Stadium in mid-January. His muffed punt led to a Ravens’ touchdown.

I'm sick of getting knocked out of the playoffs because of other teams castoffs whom the Ravens pick up.

Now they have him and Cundiff on ST...won't the playoffs be fun to watch this year...if the Ravens make it.

When did they sign Jacoby Jones? Pretty sure he just came in for a visit...

They signed him...

The Ravens landed the veteran wide receiver and kick returner that they have been seeking, agreeing to a two-year, $7 million deal today with former Houston Texans wide receiver Jacoby Jones.

Jones visited with Ravens officials over the past couple of days.

This is bad luck for us.

It's some kind of curse that started by signing TJ.
