cravnravn Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Got to tell you, yesterday after an exhausting day on the beach, came home, put on the tube to my favorite channel(TVG) and there it was, full color HD, beautiful Pimlico...Made me a tad home sick. I hate betting favorites, I really do but I cant find another horse in the Preakness field to tire out Bobemeister, I think Bode goes out and "steals" this race on the lead. My only saving grace is to get one of those longshots to run second. I like Daddy Nose Best and Went the day Well to get into that second slot. Great to see Baltimore show cased like this on a national level. To me proud Baltimore!!!! Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Unfortunatly I see the Preakness will not be here much longer. Annapolis has pooch screwed the racing industry. 1 Quote
vmax Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Today is one of my favorite days of the year.Maryland/Hopkins Quarterfinal on now...4-2 Maryland. Then the Pearkness. O's at 7! Quote
vmax Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I'm thinking Bodiemeister and I'll Have Another are going to have an off day.I'm taking went the Day Well. Also like Creative Cause to show. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I am listening to the radio. They say that the overhead crowd looks much smaller. Is that true? Quote
cravnravn Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 I am listening to the radio. They say that the overhead crowd looks much smaller. Is that true? From what I seen on TV the infield crowd did look smaller than prior years. Im highly disapointed in Baltimores non coverage of the day, my mom, sister and aunt all called me and said there was no local coverage. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 WOW, they say the Preakness was a record crowd, 121,300 people attended. Didnt look that crowded. Quote
vmax Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 That was a great race. It doesn't get much closer than winning by a nose.Bodiemeister and I'll Have Another were just too strong for Creative Cause. http://espn.go.com/horse-racing/ Yea...local coverage was "no coverage".It used to be great having the TV on all day, catching all the races and the Preakness fans. The local stations suck for not doing this. They give us the same gloom and doom news, day after day, and when the opportunity comes to show the Baltimore community having good, clean fun....a day when our civic pride blood is up...they won't show it. No...Let's get back to reporting on shootings, fires, crooked goverment officials, perverts and the ever boring weather forecasts.Every day is Groundhog Day in the TV news stations. Quote

JPPT1974 Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Well hopefully that one more win, that I'll Have Another will win it all as it has been a little over forty years. Since someone has won the Triple Crown! Quote

You bring out the horses 10 minutes to post, let them walk around get used to the crowd noise, you put them in the starting gate and away they go...No rule change. Now if you want to discuss the pundits that for over 20 years have shot down slots in Md that would have effected the purses of horse races and added more to those purses but elected to do absolutely nothing but watch the connecting states implement slots and increase horse racing purses and draw our horsemen, owners and jockeys to their states, then we can!!!! Now Md gets off the pot with slots, and the connecting states have full blown gambling.. It has nothing to do with Rule Changes Papa, its all about the M-O-N-E-Y & P-O-W-E-R Edited May 23, 2012 by cravnravn Quote

What Annapolis has done I agree is wrong. The Preakness will leave MD and it is Annapolis' fault. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 While in Baltimore, I spoke with major builders, theres a parcel of land by the ATM that has Race Track and Full blown Casino written all over it, Ive heard the rumblings about Md wanting table games..If that would happen Md would then again become one of the mecas of the horse racing industry.. FYI the Preakness has already been discussed as to being moved, but unfortunately for Laurel Park and Delaware Park their infields contain lakes, thats just way too much liability to hold the Preakness at those tracks. papasmurfbell Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I agree with a downtown race track. It should be attached to a casino with table games and sports book. Also connect an arena and hotel. The 4 things pulled together as a destination. As for the Preakness leaving I believe I recall it was talked about as a possiblity in Fla. Some track down there was said to be perfect. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 Too hot down here we are already have 100 heat index. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Hell the first Preakness I went to it was close to 100 degrees. Quote
