Football Gameplan's 2012 NFL Team Preview - Ravens

Good evening Ravens fans! Here's my Season Preview for you guys!

Everyone here has heard this from me but you haven't.

 

On Offense these are the concerns I see. You didn't mention the guy who was under fire last yr and was allowed to stay. Cam Cameron is back. His often pathetic game plans made it so the AFCC was in NE and not in bmore. He had an road grader OL but he put them in a zone blocking scheme which I think hurt them a great deal last yr. I look at the NE game where a suspect but getting better D made RR take a time out. That happens a good amount of time becuase Cam tries to jam his round pegs into his square holes. Last yr it was OL again in 2010 it was pos WR's all across the board and doing his best Air Coriel impersination. He doesn't asapt to what he has.

 

Also check out his win loss against 4-3 D's. It is really sad especially since they run one.

 

Back on that OL like I said RR at times was taken away by D's by stoning the ravens OL. Also They were not that good at protecting Joe many times. I believe he had 31 sacks which is not the worst in the world but that number was limited because Joe got rid of the ball before getting hit when the OL went turnstyle on him.

 

How can Joe be properly evaluated for a new contract when he isn't always put in the proper postion to win by the guy making the play calls? I thought Cam was going to be fired but aparently in the castle you can do the same thing over and over and expect a new result. I don't know if Joe will flurish completely with Cam making the call.

 

On D Coty in his rookie yr was not a pile pusher. Last yr he could get a little more penetrationo but he did that by taking off a lot of weight. That allowed him to get pushed around in the run game. Ngata is a beast. Jones and McPhee are young and coming.

 

Not to the LB's. Ray Ray is not the guy he used to be. He has no business being on the field on 3rd downs. We will see if Harbs has the stones to put him where he should be on passing downs. Also his run game is starting to fall off. He is still top half of the league but they better have his replacement very soone.

 

I think Upshaw is going to be sick.

 

Last yr was the best possible hope for the Ravens to got the ring. Last yr they swept the div. That will not happen this yr. Also last yr they were lucky enough to catch teams with major injuries or probloems rolling into Ravens week. Those opportunities will not cut their way for a 2nd yr in a row. The injury bug has already started digging in and they Ravens only have about $600,000 in cap space right now. It is less than a month before RR can get a contract done that saves space. I don't see it happening. I think Joe will play out his deal.

 

At the moment I see 10-6 for the Ravens. That might get them the div. It more than likley will not get them a top 2 seed again.

I don't think this is accurate. Someone on another board made a breakdown of this and it wasn't horribly skewed like one tends to think.

Thats just bullshit and you know it..So much emphasis is placed on 3 games its not funny..The only people that wanted Cam ran out of town were the Fans and Mike Preston..Not once did I hear Bisquit or Harbs bitch about Cam, Joe might of had some mumblings but thats on him, hes been in the league long enough to check off if he sees something he doesn't like from the D.

 

If Evans make the catch, this isnt even brought up..If we are the products of our fathers, i can truly understand why Irsay upped ship.

Yeah Cam must have something on Harbs. Steve did say Cam was ubder fire. But Steve does seem to be easily manipulated by his coaches.

I never said gun slinger. I think he should be put in a position to succeed. I n 2010 him trying to go Air Coriel with the wrong WR's didn't put Joe in that position. He is being bull headed.

Other than getting hit with more key injuries, I don't see why the Ravens can't win the division again this year.

That means playoffs. The tough schedule that they have means they will be a very hard out.

And that means it could all come down too a final minute pass in the AFC Championship game to Jacoby Jones and he....

I'm not a fan of Cameron's, but four trips to the playoffs and two to the championship game prove that something is working. I'm not for making a major change if we continue to rattle of playoff runs. How did it work out for the Vikings when they fired Dennis Green after 7 straight trips to the post-season?

 

Also, I think it was more Joe having problems against the cover 2, (which is run from the 4-3 on most occasions) that makes us think that Cameron isn't good against that kind of defense. Joe showed last year that he can finally beat that defense. He beat one of the best in Houston.

No, that was in Billick's regime and when one facet of a team does something outstanding in spite of another consistent success is never achieved, it's sporadic.

 

As evidenced by Billick's playoff appearances and records.

 

This team is something different. It's far more balanced and it's achieved far more on the offensive side of the ball. Once again, I'm not really a fan of Cameron's but I've seen nothing that says he has to go now.

 

Evans catches a ball and we were in the Super Bowl.

 

We will need to miss the playoffs due to offensive ineptitude before a change should be considered. And even then, it will have to be decided why the offensive failure happened. (Was it Cam's fault, injuries, QB play, etc)

But in the playoffs his offense failed in many ways. I put a great deal of that on Cam.

Cameron's failures in the playoffs have also had alot to do with Joe being very young. The past year most importantly showed tremendous progress. Why change something that appears heading in the right direction?
