cravnravn Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 The Washington Walgreens are shutting down Strausburg..Hes at the max number of innings pitched that the doctors recommended after his Tommy John surgery.. Dont they have a couple game lead in the east?
papasmurfbell Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 They are the best in the NL. Best to live for the long run.
cravnravn Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 Ya think Peter Irsay would have pulled the plug on one of our pitchers if we were in first place?
papasmurfbell Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Yeah the troll would find a way to break him.
dc. Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Brilliant move. They have the pitchers to hold out for now... in all likelihood, they will reinstate him in September if they need to... and definitely in October if they actually make it.
cravnravn Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 I know hindsight is 20/20 but hes at 156 innings, he has 6 left to pitch, now with the Walgreens planted in the playoffs, you think maybe they will regret this decision? maybe should have shut him down or limited his innings earlier so they would have him for the playoffs?
cravnravn Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 I like listening to Sutcliffes reasoning why this was a bad decision, basically he said they should have backed him up after the all star break, to extend his season into October..
thundercleetz Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I am going to go against you guys and say he should be pitching. Sure the Nats looks like they are ready for the long run but as an O's fan, didn't we think the same thing in 1997? Chances to win the World Series are hard to come by. You know the Phillies, Mets, and Cubs are going to use their large payrolls to reload soon. The Dodgers have already shown they will spend whatever it takes to win. Bottom line this is the most wide open the NL will be for years. The Nats have to take advantage.
dc. Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I think they still pitch him in October... but that doesn't mean they need to pitch him now given how (seemingly) secure their place in the playoffs is.
