Smart decision?

Brilliant move. They have the pitchers to hold out for now... in all likelihood, they will reinstate him in September if they need to... and definitely in October if they actually make it.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but hes at 156 innings, he has 6 left to pitch, now with the Walgreens planted in the playoffs, you think maybe they will regret this decision? maybe should have shut him down or limited his innings earlier so they would have him for the playoffs?

I am going to go against you guys and say he should be pitching. Sure the Nats looks like they are ready for the long run but as an O's fan, didn't we think the same thing in 1997? Chances to win the World Series are hard to come by. You know the Phillies, Mets, and Cubs are going to use their large payrolls to reload soon. The Dodgers have already shown they will spend whatever it takes to win. Bottom line this is the most wide open the NL will be for years. The Nats have to take advantage.
