oldno82 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Quote from John Eisenberg on the Raven's website: "Up-Tempo Offense Still Best ApproachEven though they lost a game with offensive malfunctions playing a key role, the Ravens shouldn’t lose their gall and start drifting away from the up-tempo approach they have adopted. Sunday notwithstanding, going with the style offers so much of a higher ceiling on that side of the ball. It’s the best decision they’ve made on offense in awhile because Flacco is comfortable in the system and the unit is less predictable and more dangerous. Things broke down in the second half Sunday largely because the line didn’t protect Flacco well enough; that needs to change. Also, when the running game is working, use it. But those mistakes and hiccups don’t mean it’s not a good idea anymore. It still is." Quote
cravnravn Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 How about up our ass offense. caus that second half sure felt like it Quote
oldno82 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Hey Crav, I'm trying to be positive here. Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Did they even use the uptempo? It looked like the mid-tempo, sometimes no tempo. Seriously, isn't an advantage supposed to be minimizing substituions by the D? It looked to me like the Eagles substituted whenever they felt like it. Quote
oldno82 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 I'm pretty sure they started off using up-tempo but they slowed it down mid-game and then seemed to abandon it until the last 'drive' but I can't remember positively. Quote
oldno82 Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 OK, here's the facts: http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Did-The-No-Huddle-Disappear/bf2632c6-f8d3-4106-af32-00e87e77bfd1 Quote
vmax Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Philly figured out how to rotate players because the Ravens take too long to get set at the LOS. Even 5 seconds quicker and they can't substitute. No need to abandon this...just don't abandon Ray Rice and the running game. You can run as well out of this offense as you can using a huddle. It does not effect the ability to run. Joe and Cam do. Ray Rice and the O line need to give those 2 an earfull. Why is Leach here if we can't they can"t pound it on 3rd and 2? I call it chickenshit football!!!! This is for the 3rd quarter alone: 3rd and 2...the Ravens have the ball for the first drive of the 3rd quarter up 17-7...interception! Target? Pita with 57 guys on him.3rd and 2...pass incomplete...punt3rd and 1...at the 50...pass incomplete...punt. Then there was 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 at the 46 to end the game...both incomplete passes. Why was Pita targeted 15 times!!!!? That's the same number of passes thrown at Boldin, Smith, and Jones combined. Quote
oldno82 Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 I absolutely agree with you Max. Keep the uptempo, speed it up a bit, and run the ball on 3rd and 1 in those situations. Its still a mystery to me why they allowed Philly to substitute and not run on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 with the game on the line in the fourth quarter. The story on Pitta being targeted so much was that the Eagles started jamming our wide receivers at the line in the second half and only Pitta was able to fend them off most of the time. What does that say about our wide receivers' coaching??? Quote
vmax Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 It doesn't say much for the coaches in general. They could have bunched the receivers up or had Boldin in motion. On defense, Peas could have told his guys to mug just like Philly because the Refs weren't calling it. Quote
