dc. Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Under Cameron, Flacco apparently had the highest percentage of pass attempts over 20+ yards... but far from the highest accuracy or QBR on such passes. Almost 20% of his attempts went for 20+. Not surprising at all, to be honest, but I think it points to the fact that Cameron's offense was nothing but dump offs and long bombs. Never seem to use the middle of the field... the numbers have gone down since Caldwell took over. Quote
vmax Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Those long incompletions were drive killers. It kept the Ravens in 2nd and long, 3rd and long. It stopped the no huddle offense which is a liability if you can't move the chains because it puts the defense right back onto the field. It killed rythmn and momentum. Quote
oldno82 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Great points by both you guys. I noticed those things too. Quote
cravnravn Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 What used to get my goat under Cam, the 3rd and 2 or 3 and Ray Rice is on the sidelines averaging 4 yards a pop, and we go 30 yards downfield, 80% of the time it was incomplete..I would literally scream WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
ForceEight Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 That's how the Air Coryell offense runs. Unfortunately for us, we don't have Dan Fouts at QB (original Coryell) or the Posse at WR (Gibbs' offenses). It's a legitimate style, but our personnel is not equipped to handle it. Rice was drafted in large part to play as the F-back (Norv's style of Coryell), but Flacco never developed into a smart and accurate enough QB to take on even the less dynamic of the offensive style. OutsideRzAcE Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Cam should have changed this strategy when he realized how inconsistent Flacco is with his deep ball. Torrey Smith was open on many of those plays but Flacco hardly ever hit him. I had hoped it would get better this year as the two players became familiar with each other but that obviously has not happened. Quote
