Chuck Pagano got a lot of credit for last year's improvement in the secondary. So what happened this year? Sure, there is little to no pressure on the qbs, but the qbs are also not standing back there for 4 or 5 seconds, they are hitting their back foot and making easy throws 8, 10, 25+ yards down field with no one near the wide receiver. The same guys who covered tight last year, lost in coverage this year. Man, zone, and combo, doesn't matter. So was Chuck really the help? What, have the players lost his voice?

I don't know about stuck, this team since then has had many years of still being a formidable defense, then was joined with a top 5 offense. Sure, there have been post season disappointments but it has been great fun football for many years since then. This year is the outlier, I say again, week one the offense picked up where it left off. The defense fell flat. But then something happened, behind the scenes. A struggle with the Browns was almost expected, but a win. It wasn't the way defenses played against this offense, we saw that type of spy game years ago, they figured out how to beat it. But if you watch closely in that KC game, as I said during the game, the linebacker would fake rush and hang back. Then the center would help a guard block, only then would rhe spy then rush, untouched. It happened every stinking time and there was either no adjustment by the coaching staff, or Lindy was not doing his job properly, it was his man every stinken time. Harbs said yesterday that everything, change wise, is on the table, position wise. No coaching changes right now, for whatever that this worth. People are killing Rush because of his picks, one of which was not his fault, it was Andrews, again. He actually played well for as bad as the line played, replacing him won't fix anything, especially with a guy who cant throw the ball more than 10 yards. But the line has to have some changes in it, one of rhe guards for sure, if not both. The defensive line has to have a change if nothing gets better though the pantry is empty so not sure what they can do there.

The defense is simply not getting off of blocks, missing tackles, losing grip on tackles. So, are they just not strong enough any more or at all? Has the training, the strength and conditioning changed since last year? Last year, it was not the run defense that struggled, it was the pass. Okay, we lost two big guys up the middle, one to injury, the other to retirement. But it is not as if those two were always out there, they were part of the rotation. They closed pockets, which lead to sacks or pressures, all of them did, not just those 2. None of that this year. This is more than players stinking at their jobs.

Warhop took over by default because of a dewth to D'Alessandris mid stream. He claimed then that he would keep things the same short term, then implement his styles as he became familiar with the offensive system and players. Well, clearly the line has gotten worse since then. 1900 + yards rushing last year, top 3 offense. This year, great first game but bubka since. Injuries are not the issue, adjustments to rhe way defenses are playing the run, rushing the passer. Adjustments? Harbs was completely wrong to say anything about the play calling; it is not the issue. The clear issue is talent/player development. Sorry to say but Rose has been an issue at right tackle, no push in the running game, struggling still in pass protection. He is lacking talent or is he getting bad coaching? If it is talent, then who said yes, draft him besides Eric? Cause that would be another miss. Who said Vorhees, besides me, was worth drafting hurt, because he was a great college guard who is now barely passable. He too struggles getting a push in the run game and has whiffes in pass protection. He too has not developed. Talent or coaching? Faalele, he was a project coming out of college, not good at pass protection as a tackle, lacked good push in the run game because, supposedly he had bad form not for a lack of strength. Well, here we are, he is a guard for year 2 and still has the same issues. So he too has not developed, coaching or talent or both? Meanwhile, the best guard on the team, Ben Cleveland, struggled in practice mostly because of his drinking and wife issues. Both have been solved and he has excelled when ever he gets the chance, whether at guard or center. Clearly it is talent with him, developed despite the coaching. Yet, because of ? He doesn't get a chance to play unless it is the preseason, hmmm Outside of the Bills game, the 1stnof the season, this team cant run the ball consistently. The line cant give any qb consistent time in the pocket. Why? Coaching Now defense Last year, bad early, very, very good as the season went on. This year, bad early, horribly bad against an average at best offense in the Texans. Oh, I know, missing 5 starters. But should that make that big of a deal? Not forcing a punt at all? No player development, not on the defensive line, not at the linebacker. I won't blame too much on the pourus secondary, they didn't stand a chance. But none of the edge rushers drafted in the last 5 years has panned out: none of them. Oh Owe getting 10 last was a) and abortion b) done mostly against bad teams when the game was over. Never when the team needed them, late in close games, nor in the playoffs. Linebackers, outside of Smith, who is clearly showing his age and has lost a few steps, no drafted backer has panned out. Even the 4th round pick Buchanan is clearly too slow to play middle linebacker at this level. Leave him on special teams where speed is not an issue. He has no vision, no instincts, cant find the ball to fill the proper hole and make a stop at the LOS, Simpson has the speed, but he too seems to lack instinct, taking wrong angles, negating his quickness. So no development at rush end, nor at the linebacker level. Coaching? Talent? Again, who agrees with Eric, on the coaching staff, that a player should be drafted in their position group? Because they clearly, just like the offensive line coach, needs to be fired. If Harbs refuses to fire coaches then he too should go out the door. / rant
