So what draft position will the Ravens be in?
tsylvester replied to tsylvester's topic in Baltimore Ravens
He is a Lamar favorite and a Harbs one too, trading him, what will you get, maybe a 4th, possibly a 5th. Maybe they have tried to trade him, but he is a tight end at the end of his career, how many teams are an aging tightend away from winning it all? -

I tell ya, we don't need a runningback, but boy would I love to see them land Wisner from Texas. Runs hard between the tackles, great vision, quickness, speed. Excellent hands and quite the wiggle in the open field. He reminds me of Priest Holmes -

If they keep Cleveland, he has shown that he can play center well, but that depends on keeping him, I would, Harbs likely won't. Dt, Edge, MLb and left tackle are my biggest needs. Likely a left tackle in the 1st, pending draft position, then Edge or Dt in the second, which ever is a better deal. I might, depending on the draft position, and quality of linemen, trade down, get 2 1sts or an extra second. Eric has to hit on the 1st 3 picks for sure, starters, not development projects or injured players. -

Maybe not in the first, but certainly a 2nd round pick IF he comes out. Kayden McDonald, dt, Ohio State. Give them a watch if ya time 6'-3", 325 pounds of muscle, a 2 gap tackle who knows how to collapse a pocket, defeat double teams. Ravens on pace to be 1st team in history to give up 600 pts

Yes, but I doubt, other than a firing at the bye and naming an interim coach to finish the season on defense would be long term. -
I tell ya, they need to simplify Green's job, just let him get after the quarterback. Enough of stunts, of dropping into coverage. Let's see if he is a true pass rusher at this level. Pressure on the pocket is the only thing that will stop the Rams.

Matt Patricia is back into coaching, I enjoyed the pod cast with him and Billy B when they had it, breakimg down, explaining defenses. At Ohio St so far quite the defense he has built and is running. Sure, a lot of his statistical success is due to superior talent over his little sisters of the poor opponents. Nonetheless, his schemes and coverages, timing of blitzes is fantastic. Not sure he would want to come back to fhe NFL, but certainly worth a conversation -

A little high lite reel in Gilman, shows his speed and reactions to the ball in the air. https://youtu.be/nKHWPQPDFZY?si=02ZlMvNOGv1AvEr1 -
I've been thinking, who could come in and help this team go? How about, and be kind, Kliff Kingsbury? As we see now, he was not the reason the Cards stunk, at least not all of it, maybe he just wasn't ready for head coach in this league. Maybe now two years removed, two years as an oc for a good head coach has helped him. If Harbs does go, it is likely Todd does as well sadly. A progressive offensive mind would be perfect for Lamar and the offense just as Monken has been.

They have the cap space now to go get pretty anyone, at least for a 3/4 year rental -

With 2 new safeties, especially Garner-Johnson, I wonder when Hamilton is healthy if they will take one of the bad linebackers out and use 3 safeties instead. Letting Hamilton, who is excellent around the los, play there.. FYI, he was back at practice today -
Ive got some pairing down of things that have cluttered my storage closet, been putting it off. Stuff has been there for 7 years collecting dust, guess I don't really need it... Anyone want a full, adult sized batman costume?

Oh things do not look good for the Ravens, at 1-4, their backs are not just against the wall, they are inside the wall with little chance of fighting back. The bye week could not come soon enough, but even then, they face the likelihood of being 1-5 when it arrives. Since 1970 only 16 teams made rhe playoffs after starting 1-4, that number dwindled if a team goes 1-5. Injuries of course play a small roll, missing a sure bet hall of fame at quarterback is the least of their concerns. As many as four starters could still be out on the defense, a defense that even with those starters was shredded on the ground and in the air. In short, this team on both sides of the ball have not come together, played smoothly much if at any time so far this season. The Rams may have a long trip for an early game that usually favors the East Coast team. But they are formidable and that advantage may not make enough of a difference. So, who ya got?

According to the main site, the Ravens should save about $8 mil on this year's cap by trading Oweh, giving them around $18 mil in cap space for the rest of the year
-
Yeah, but seeing how desperate the Ravens are, that should drive up the price
-
Cj Johnson Gardner on the ps, good player, ball hawk, head case. Not sure how his personality is going to work with Harbs. No fatties to get, Titans have a couple but they won't trade with the Ravens. Jags have a couple but at 4-1, they won't be trading. Maybe the Saints, doubtful the Jets make any moves with a new coach

That is kind of low papa, you are better than that. Never met, seen him around, especially at camps up at the college.
-
I hope so, he plays far better than he practices and certainly better than the big fella. I'm glad they finally got over the failed Oweh, papa, not sure what you would expect for him, we all knew he was a waste, so a safety, experienced, and a pick higher is better than nothing. They weren't going to keep him next year any way, too inconsistent.

Per espn, Bengals get a 6th round pick while the Browns get a 5th

Ravens on pace to be 1st team in history to give up 600 pts

Chuck Pagano got a lot of credit for last year's improvement in the secondary. So what happened this year? Sure, there is little to no pressure on the qbs, but the qbs are also not standing back there for 4 or 5 seconds, they are hitting their back foot and making easy throws 8, 10, 25+ yards down field with no one near the wide receiver. The same guys who covered tight last year, lost in coverage this year. Man, zone, and combo, doesn't matter. So was Chuck really the help? What, have the players lost his voice? -

As much as I like the job Eric has done, he had made some major gaffs in the draft and free agency -
I don't know about stuck, this team since then has had many years of still being a formidable defense, then was joined with a top 5 offense. Sure, there have been post season disappointments but it has been great fun football for many years since then. This year is the outlier, I say again, week one the offense picked up where it left off. The defense fell flat. But then something happened, behind the scenes. A struggle with the Browns was almost expected, but a win. It wasn't the way defenses played against this offense, we saw that type of spy game years ago, they figured out how to beat it. But if you watch closely in that KC game, as I said during the game, the linebacker would fake rush and hang back. Then the center would help a guard block, only then would rhe spy then rush, untouched. It happened every stinking time and there was either no adjustment by the coaching staff, or Lindy was not doing his job properly, it was his man every stinken time. Harbs said yesterday that everything, change wise, is on the table, position wise. No coaching changes right now, for whatever that this worth. People are killing Rush because of his picks, one of which was not his fault, it was Andrews, again. He actually played well for as bad as the line played, replacing him won't fix anything, especially with a guy who cant throw the ball more than 10 yards. But the line has to have some changes in it, one of rhe guards for sure, if not both. The defensive line has to have a change if nothing gets better though the pantry is empty so not sure what they can do there.

The defense is simply not getting off of blocks, missing tackles, losing grip on tackles. So, are they just not strong enough any more or at all? Has the training, the strength and conditioning changed since last year? Last year, it was not the run defense that struggled, it was the pass. Okay, we lost two big guys up the middle, one to injury, the other to retirement. But it is not as if those two were always out there, they were part of the rotation. They closed pockets, which lead to sacks or pressures, all of them did, not just those 2. None of that this year. This is more than players stinking at their jobs.
