Hey VA, great take. Let me say I do not disagree, but also, do not agree. Take the 3 loses this year. With the caveat of getting some players back from injury who missed most if not all of last year. This team was trouncing what some are calling the best team in the NFL, for 2 almost 3 quarters. In the other two loses, this team was destroying the Phins, must like they did the Bill's, and held a 14+ point lead in another loss. Yes, it's bad, yes, this team did what no other team did, blow double digit leads in each of their first six games and not have a winning record. Blah, blah, blah So what we know is that this defense, again, missing or getting players back who missed a lot of time due to injury, shut down, even for a half to three quarters, every team they faced this year. This offense scored, driving 90+ yards, scoring quickly on one or two plays, in each of the games this year, including the 3 losses. Now it is just a matter of building on those positive plays, capitalizing on the desperation of other teams being down by 14+ scores coming out of half time. When/if they do, those 3 losses are turned to wins. With players who missed time due to injury last year back, and back to game speed, they are also building chemistry between them and their teammates. So that now, going forward, the play should be more consistent, both on defense and offense. Lamar can be a 20-10 td/int quarterback, there is nothing wrong with those numbers. Perfect? No, no qb is, again, look at Roger's and his struggles this year, Wilson, etc. Joe Montanna was never perfect, if he wad, they would have won far more Super Bowls. Even Brady, 18-0 going into the Super Bowl, (even though Rex Ryan screwed up a Ravens victory at the end), lost a Super Bowl, so they finished 18-1. 20-10, with a good run game, Stanley is back and in great form, and a solid defense, the line is getting healthier by the day, and this team can win consistently, 10-12 games every year Lamar is playing that well. That means playoffs more times than not. Sure, we still need to see him play well in prime time, but tell me, how many Super Bowls has Roger's or Wilson won? How many did Manning or Marino win? Are you saying you wouldn't want Roger's, or Marino in his prime? 2 Super Bowls combined over a combined 20+ years, hall of fame qbs...

That is the ticket Mr Humphries. https://www-espn-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34841204/marlon-humphrey-says-ravens-pressing-need-relax?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&platform=amp&usqp=mq331AQKKAFQArABIIACAw%3D%3D#amp_tf=From %1%24s&aoh=16663716419988&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.espn.com%2Fnfl%2Fstory%2F_%2Fid%2F34841204%2Fmarlon-humphrey-says-ravens-pressing-need-relax OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Repeated fourth-quarter meltdowns have led to one of the wildest starts in Baltimore Ravens history. Marlon Humphrey says Ravens are 'pressing,' need to 'relax' Jamison HensleyESPN Staff Writer6:27 PM ET3 Minute Read Woody: Ravens' D putting too much pressure on Lamar Damien Woody and Bart Scott discuss who is at fault for the Ravens' struggles this season. OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Repeated fourth-quarter meltdowns have led to one of the wildest starts in Baltimore Ravens history. Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey said Thursday that the sting of another late-game collapse led to him referencing a quote often attributed to Albert Einstein after a 24-20 loss to the New York Giants. "That was just frustration amongst some of the guys," Humphrey said. "We were all talking like, 'Man, we kind of keep doing the same thing at the end of games. Not finishing games.'" The Ravens (3-3) are the only team in NFL history to hold a double-digit lead in NFL history in the first six games of a season and not have a winning record, according to research by the Elias Sports Bureau. On Sunday, Baltimore led 20-10 in the fourth quarter only to watch the Giants score two touchdowns in the final six minutes. Two hours after the loss, Humphrey tweeted: "Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. -Albert Einstein" The Ravens have been outscored 64-22 in the fourth quarter. That 42-point margin is the worst fourth-quarter differential in the NFL this season. Humphrey said the players approached coach John Harbaugh about changing some small details, including checks on defense. But the two-time Pro Bowl defender believes the best way to overcome their late-game problems is not to overthink them. "We all want to make those plays at the end," Humphrey said. "We all want it, but when we spoke in the team meeting, I was like, 'We actually need to relax some.' I think that's kind of been the problem. We're pressing so hard that it's almost doing a reverse effect." In Lamar Jackson's first four seasons as a starting quarterback, Baltimore was 31-3 in games in which it led by at least 10 points. Now, the Ravens have matched that number of losses with double-digit leads in the first six games this season. In the fourth quarter this season, Jackson has thrown one touchdown and four interceptions. His QBR of 28 ranks 28th in the league. Humphrey went up to Jackson during a practice this week and told him, "We're ready for you to lead us."

Wow, what a nice haul for Carolina, ESPN: Sources - Panthers trading star Christian McCaffrey to 49ers. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34842974/sources-panthers-trading-star-christian-mccaffrey-49ers

A rivalry, a division game at home. If this team can't get and stay fired up, play inspired ball in all phases of the game, then we might as well kiss the season good bye.

How is having a "deep threat" going to help Lamar if he
-
Kolar is a meh, big deal, a tight end, a rookie too boot. How many will they use? Likely, Boyle, Josh, my gosh, you wonder why wideouts can't get a pass their way....
-
Crap, they signed him
-
Say it loud, say it proud! No matter who the qb is, nothing will change, passing wise, as long as he is calling the plays.

Lamar needs to be Lamar. He left a lot of yards on the field last week. He is thinking too much. When the pocket opens in the middle and there is no one open, run Lamar run. Several times last week he refused to take advance of those open lanes, trying to prove he is a pocket passer. Once he bounced out of bounds 1.5 yards from a first down. He had plenty of room between he and the defenders to get that first down, but chose not to for some reason. Barkley runs between the tackles, a Ravens strength. Chubb has killed the Ravens with off tackle, outside runs, a Raven weakness because neither end can hold the edge. That will be the key. The tackles, with Jones back in the line up, have been doing great against the run and pushing the pocket. Now it is time the ends do their job, hold the edge, string em out, squeeze em down. Now will our two horrible linebackers in the middle scrape properly to fill? I am not worried about the Ravens scoring, just the defense having a big let down. This game could make or break the season.

This is going to take years to see. Mahomet, Allen, huge contracts but right now they fit in the cap with top quality around them. Even Stafford, though this year injuries are killing them. Stafford won a ring, Mahomet has as well but that was before his contract. We shall have to see if Alllen does.. But playing musical chairs with the most important position on the team is not the way to win consistently...

Have you seen the sure Hall of Fame qb Aarron Roger's in the 4th quarter? https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/419780/aaron-rodgers/splits/ Not much better than Lamar this year, 60.7 % completion. Wait, it must be his receivers, right?
-
Is the injury to our star receiver more serious? What can the old guy still have left in the tank? No thanks..
-
Then what? You still have not answered my question, just keep drafting qbs, ditch them after their 5th year so as to not pay huge salary? The days of winning a Super Bowl with a budget qb are just about over, eventually you are going to have to pay one big time money. Lamar is learning to throw from the pocket, trying to increase or at least prove he is worth the money. That takes some time, not just from an accuracy stand point, took Allen a couple of years. But also from a cerebral stand point, reading defenses pre & post snap. He never learned that in college because he was taught to throw to an open area, read where the open area would be. Reading a man vs zone is easy, but what about man to one side, man underneath, which type of zone are they in? Now that takes some time if you have never had to process those coverages. In the mean time, we win some, we lose some. Again, as long as he is learning we have to deal with it, no different than your way, going with a rookie every three to five years. The biggest issue is the patterns, the route combinations Roman uses, that don't, aren't all that conducive to getting people open unless it is a zone coverage. Even then, he uses the same ones throughout the game, in the redzone, so defenses are ready for them later in the game or once the offense reaches the other side of the 50.... It's time this team got with the times, get a real passing game, a real offensive minded coach. Anyone can run the ball with a good line and back to match. But passing concepts are a whole different scenario
-
Roman must go, plain and simple. Sure, there has been some good play calls, but not enough to over shadow the bad ones. Toss in the terrible pass route combinations, especially in the redzone and it is clear Roman has to go. No slants, no stacked receivers to create natural seperation, just layered patterns so Lamar can chose between a five yard or 10 yard receiver. I've seen high-school teams with more designed route combinations to get an open man.

It was on Lindy, they rushed the snap because of the rush, everyone was on the Los. They should have called a time out and talked it over. Just like on the qb sneak, Lamar rushed it, instead of taking time making sure everyone was set. They get that first down, game over
-
True, but what do you do when you draft a Baker Mayfield? Wait three years, see if he pans out, then start over again? Maybe the Skins will take the trade bait , toss in Taylor Henekie, he has great, wait for it, potential. Him plus a 1st, 3rd and 7th for Lamar....
-
Mahomet just threw a pick, down by 4 with a minute left....
-
So what do you want to do, play ring around the rosy with a new qb every 3-5 years? Hoping, each time, you land one that can win you a championship? Yeah, that is easy to do, there is a reason why only 2 or 3 qbs in the draft each year turn out, most stink and it is not all on the coaching. No, when you find one you pay him and try to build around him. I know, I know, Lamar stinks in prime time, in the playoffs. However, maybe, just maybe he can develop to play better in those games.
-
Oh sure, but then you have to draft well, something this team has not done recently. Also, who do you think will give up 2, 3 first round draft picks? Not Seattle, not Carolina, they don't have any picks. Not NE, they currently have 2 apparently very good rookies now. The Ravens don't want to do a Watson contract, not sure any team will a Watson like trade.
-
Of note, in the final 2 mins, Buffalo drove 90 yards for a touchdown, leaving KC with 12 seconds. They drove to get a 62 yard field goal... I love football
-
I honestly think he is focused on being a pocket passer first, running only when forced to scramble, running carefully when it is a called play. Either way, they have no choice but to pay him, they won't draft high enough to get a decent qb close to ready. They won't be able to land a fa qb worth anything and trading for one is out of the question.
