A DL Signing for Big Money -- Michael Brockers
tsylvester replied to oldno82's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I dunno about a brick wall, an aging vet and an over achieving rotational guy; the defensive line is getting expensive.... -
Shame, James had so much "potential" and opportunity here, I was pulling for him
-
That would be wise, Ryan loves to use the tight end and if his star receiver can stay healthy, that will really boost chances for Hurst
-
2020 2nd and 5th round picks, great deal for him.
-
Are you kidding me? Has April 1st come early? They wasted a 5th on him? Yes, a rookie 5th rounder would be a better pass rusher, or use it to trade up. Is Ozzie still calling the shots?

Well Shefty was wrong, L In the aftermath of NFL players voting to pass a new collective bargaining agreement, the NFL Management Council has informed team officials that the salary cap will be $198.2 million per club for the upcoming 2020 season, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported per sources informed of the situation. Overall player costs per franchise are $242.9 million, which comes to $198.2 million on the salary cap and $44.7 million in benefits and performance-based pay, Pelissero added.

Per NFL dot com, new cap for this year is $198.2 mil.

Wow, 10 years, I am a bit surprised this passed, I would not be surprised if some of the players come out against this, try to challenge it as we move forward. I am not a fan of more games, glad they got rid of one preseason game, even if I think some players need the games to show they can play. Some players play games better than they practice.. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28906786/nfl-players-approve-new-cba-2030 NFL players voted to approve a new collective bargaining agreement with the league's owners, ensuring NFL labor peace through at least 2030 and clearing the way for a 17-game regular season as early as 2021. The vote to approve was close, at 1019-959. Approval required a majority of the players voting. "I think that's something we knew, that it would be close," new NFLPA president JC Tretter told ESPN of the close vote. "We just came out of our rep meeting and we had a sense of that based on the discussions. But just as with anything, the majority rules." The NFL Players Association tweeted news of the approval, saying: "The result comes after a long and democratic process in accordance with our constitution." Tretter lauded the greater share of revenues and post-career benefits but added: "We understand that not all deals are perfect, and we don't take the gains we wanted, but couldn't get, lightly. We now must unite and move forward as a union." The 10-day voting period, during which any player who paid NFLPA dues during the past calendar year was eligible to vote, concluded at 11:59 p.m. ET on Saturday. Before the voting, the NFLPA estimated that roughly 2,500 players were eligible to vote.

Why oh why? Ok, maybe he gets more consistent with another good motor guy in the rotation so that he can get rest. But if that is the case, is he worth all of that money? I understand that they want to reward good, hard working home grown players and keep this team in as much intact as possible after last season's success, but this team still could not stop the edge runs, could not get pressure consistently on the quarterback, and even his what, 9 sacks, some of them were culmination of combination sacks where he was the 2nd one in and unneeded. Bad move here me thinks.

Ravens get a 3rd & 4th comp pick, that is huge especially now that can be traded....
-
A great team player, hall of fame worthy some would say. He will be missed on the field and in the lockerroom.

A report just came out stating that 21 of the 22 horses killed as a result of injury sustained at the track had pre-existing conditions known to the equestrians though they "did not grasp the significance of major pre-existing lessions". Then they should be fired, really, they didn't think a bone lesssion would lead to a break? Give me a freaking break.... https://www.pasadenastarnews.com/2020/03/10/no-illegal-medications-found-in-states-investigation-into-horse-deaths-at-santa-anita/

No way they get a 1st for him unless they also trade picks with him. They might get a low a mid to low 2nd if they are lucky. He struggles against man, isn't very quick in nor out of his routes even for a tightend. He was a reach when they drafted him in the first, at best he was a 3rd rounder, but getting Andrews in the 3rd helped make it all right. I doubt many teams are very interested, but Green Bay would be a good fit. Graham has not good since New Orleans, but then he also has not been able to stay healthy.

Good move with Winky-Dink, now get him a little pass rush, edge setter, middle backers..
-
Jefferson is officially gone, bout stinken time. Brown worries me with that injury and his inability to get off press man; something he struggled with in college as well..
-
Well, they are going to price the average fan out of going with these ticket price increases. Been years since I have been a game for a number of reasons, price is on the list.

With all the cuts lately, especially at corner, Smith is not going to be offered a lot of money. He is too injury prone, slower and has a tendency for penalties because he is slower. Judon is a beast at times, but he can't hold an edge and doesn't play a lot of snaps without getting worn out. Let him walk if he wants the top 5 pay for his position, this organization has shown they can find defensive linemen. Stanley is the priority, with this type of offense his talents are needed. Were this a pocket passing team, statue qb, then I would say market value at best. He doesn't hold up agaimst quicker pass rushers and gets little push in straight power runs. If some team wants to throw the bank at him, let him walk. There are a number of tackles in college coming who run this type of offense.

Chuck Clark/Ravens agree on 3 yr extension
tsylvester replied to varaven45's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I was hard on him over the time, but he stepped up. He still gets beat by quick twitch guys, but he is young & smart. Now go get a good quick twitch guy in the draft like Delpit from LSU who is smart enough to learn this defense. -
So far it has been easy, even lucky that some playere he went after did not come. However, 2 tackles, a quarterback, mvp, a tightend, one of the best in the league..... Yep, things are gonna get more difficult to control the cap

So now our clan gathers to celebrate, to mourn, to embrace. We celebrate a brilliant effort by our warriors on their quest, in the end, it was a valiant effort, they made our clan proud. Some days the journey is walked, other days the journey walks over us. We mourn the loss of the last battle, they were Titans for certain. Many things went wrong, our warriors lost their path amidst the ever winding foliage, in a forrest of confusion. But they made us proud. We now embrace a bright future dependant on a new blood needed to be brought in to the clan between now and the next quest for the Silver Betty. This journey was truly unexpected, and the story is just turning another page to a new chapter.

I thought Tomlin should have won it; lose all of those players, big named, talented, be down to a 3rd string qb and still be in it at the end?
-
Neither Cooper nor Green can stay healthy for more than 2 games in a row, for more than 10 games per season. Why waste the hogh cap dollars? Clowney is another big waste of money, injured often, penalties often; no thanks. Kerrigan is not what he used to be, but is logical since the FO tried to trade for him this past season and over pay too boot; no thanks. I would wait until after the draft, let us see what they can get in the draft or undrafted, other than wide out, they seem to be able to make something out of the draft.

No one person nor coach is to blame, call it rust, over confidence, what ever. Players made mistakes, bad play calls, trying to do too much... Humphries said they choked for the second year in a row. Young player on a YOUNG Team, he got burned too much. Hosh posh, Tennessee wanted it more, just as the Ravens of 2000 wanted it more when they went in to Tennessee and took the game from them. You can't win with five turnovers, yes I count the two 4th & 1 or less failures as a turnover. Bad play call on the 4th & inches, should have play actioned passed; would have been six easy. Coach should have known Tennessee was waiting for the read option Lamar special. Should have done a few things different, Lamar rushing on the first 4th down instead of waiting for Gus to go through. Tennessee exposed Lamar's inability to throw out routes, he is young he will learn. 350 passing yards over 100 yards rushing from your qb you should win that game but the defensive line & backers could not get off blocks, make tackles. Chuck Clarke was beat like a drum, out of position on numerous plays. Linebackers not making the right read getting fooled on pass plays. Tennessee threw for undwr 100 yards, you have to win that game, but they didn't. This team over achieved this year, 14-2, 12 in a row. A young team with loads of experience now. Enjoy the season that was, the draft is rich in talent at the positions of need for this team; linebackers, edge rusher, wide out, line depth on both sides. The offensive line is set, how great is that? How long have we waited for that? Yanda is the only aged one. The secondary is pretty set, young too boot.

There were a lot of mistakes, but the offensive line had one of the worst games of the season. They missed blocks, took in proper blocking angles, an off game for a group that had been one of the best in the league, best in team history.
