  1. They had some injuries on the offensive line, felt he had a good showing in the joint practices... Meh
  2. Well , McSorely looks like a real viable backup. Granted both teams played their back ups for most of the game. Even a good showing by all, not any serious injuries. Justice Hill maybe fast, but he is not quick nor elusive, I am not very impressed nor was I when they drafted him.
  3. So do we see Lamar make those outside the number throws, 10-15 yards down field? Even 8 yards would be nice... Will Brown play at all? I would keep him out, bad feet are nothing to play around with...
  4. Hm, he was pretty good, enjoyed listening to him. Next person up I guess... BALTIMORE (WJZ) Longtime sportscaster for the Baltimore Ravens, Bruce Cunningham has officially stepped back from the mic. Cunningham, who also works as the Fox45 as the weekday sports anchor, resigned effective immediately, he tweeted out Tuesday. https://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2019/08/20/bruce-cunningham-resigns-as-nfl-baltimore-ravens-broadcaster/
  5. Go to any union in this country and see the salaries for certain positions, they are different not just in what each position makes, but in what they can top out at through their life at said position. This is no different, qb's top out more because they have more say in where the ball goes, they affect the game more, relatively speaking. Sure, there are a few outliers, but by & large. That is life, as I said don't like, find a new position or a new career. Tackles top out more than gaurds & centers, I don't hear those players looking to make a new union. Back in the day, many very good players quit the game because they could make more money in a "regular" job than in the NFL, and with less wear & tear on their bodies. Shoot, my father turned down a contract from the Boston Celtics back in the late 50's because he had a family to support and could make more money in a regular job. These kids need to grow up. Work hard, eat right, be glad to have great medical, dental, oh and an average of $480,000 per year, league minimum, not counting bonus and any sponsorships...
  6. If the money isn't worth the effort, find a new line of work. They are not being discriminated against them so move on.
  7. They can try and work with a team to get a five year deal from their draft, with guarenteed money even if the salary is just the lowest allowed. But they choose to only take the minimum years with the most money then spend it on bling. They spend it quickly because they are young and have little financial experience. Trying to blame the union for them only lasting two years is a typical everyone gets a trophy, millennial cop out. Eat healthy, work out properly, share the load in college, you will last longer in the NFL. It is not the owners' fault that they can get the same production from healthier younger backs for less salary. Just do real math, not this 2+2= 6 crap. Five years, at rookie min = more money than 2 years at some ludicrous looking salary that will never be paid with a large signing bonus.
  8. Preach Max, these atheletes and some in the media are going way over board calling them selves or the players slaves, prisoners, the owners plantation owners. They have a choice, they not only bargin for their salary but also for their league salaries, team salary %. If you want more money per, then either bargin for more or find new work. A new union just for a position.. I doubt this goes anywhere, the real union would not allow it.
  9. Really? A seperate union because your agents don't fight harder to get more money for you? A seperate union because your position is a dime a dozen? I get that your position is the shortest lived because of the pounding you take in highschool, college and then the pros, but g-willikers, a seperate union is not going to make one difference to the owners... https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/08/15/effort-emerges-to-create-separate-union-for-running-backs/
  10. Well, when the play clock runs out and the qb doesn't know it, the coach calls the time out and you praise the qb for knowing that a player was out of position and calling a time out, you have issues. He does it time & again, I get he needs to pump the team and over explain things for the radio, but he is bad....
  11. Watching, he even had the cookies to say this might be the best 2ndary ever for the Ravens.....
  12. Yes, big loss, great slot cover man. I begged off having the surgery on the neck discs, 50-50 it works out. I hope he has better luck.
  13. He is a natural leader, frankly while he has been a typical late round qb, he clearly can play at this level as a good back up for many years. I wish they would get a new play by play guy, Sandusky has gotten worse with each year and he started out terrible....
  14. Well, more of the same, anything in front of him he can complete, strange they never called out routes, maybe they are saving them for the season.. The first throw should have been a back shoulder throw since the db was on top of the wr, that takes time to learn. Even so, he was not seeing the field clearly, he missed a few open receivers crossing the field and opted for other targets for either less gain, or, were incomplete. Only 10 passes so it is difficult to gauge, but we do what we can with what we have. The running game looks solid, the defense has to step up its coverage when they preasure the pocket, but overall, minus the injury, a good showing. Earl Thomas, I hope it was rust and the fact it was pre season, he looked gimpy and slow....
  15. Hey, I like a qb who can throw on the run, don't get me wrong. But throughout his career and all of last year he has struggled with all of the throws from the pocket outside the hash, especially those 10 yard out routes. All off seasons people talked about how he worked with a qb specialist on his mechanics & accuracy. Into this preseason how he is a different thrower. So far none of that is apparent, granted it was only practice & six passes in his first preseason game this year. I hope he improves, but if he doesn't, this team is doomed, last year, record wise, was an aborition.
  16. Yes, but again, because he rolled out it was a straight, easy throw, thus my point.
  17. Boller had camp days like that too, dispite what the bag of donuts said back then. I know it was only 6 passes last week, but of his 4 completions, two were actually 1 yard passes with runs after, including the wr screan for a td. Another was a lucky break that Moore was 1) there & 2) able to keep it off the ground.(badly over threw the tight end crossing into the flat) The 4th was a roll out and straight easy throw. In other words, same as last year with his "accuracy" and types of passes. He still has not shown he can throw an out route, nor any timing route to the outside of the middle of the field from the pocket. Only throws right in front of him on a line. I hope we see improvement in the little time he spends in the game tonight.
  18. Yeah, fueling trade talks about Clowny... Pfff, they will rue the day they make that trade, Clowny is another player who can't stay on the field. Smith is well over paid, but just put him at safety if he is willing, keep his injury risk down, and his penalties for a lack of make up speed, from killing a good defensive stand.
  19. Eh, not sure about that. He was surhanded, quick and had a good 2nd gear. It was worth a shot.

    FUBAR

Well said. Suggs has cost this team more than he has helped the past five years. Weddle, while a good player/leader, the secondary was always missing play calls, out of position with him back there. Smith, while a great Ravens player, time will tell if he was another of a great production player because of the scheme or just coming into his own. Frankly, I think the former but wish him luck. Mosely, over hyped, he still cannot cover, can't get through traffic, is always making plays 8 yards down field because of his issues with getting off blocks. Good riddance. All that said, this defense is younger, faster in some spots, but also inexperienced. It may take half a season to know what they can really will be. I like how active they are, but can they keep the energy up if the offense does not hold the ball for 3 quarters of the game as they did the later parts of last year? That was a big reason why the defensive stats appear to be so "good"....
  21. The signs were there all season, sure, the defense "played great" in spurts, but just as in past years, after a few games, they lost their legs. If you watched, the defense gave up a 10 pt lead heading into the 4th against the Saints, then the collapse, the lack of hustle, the following week. Now this week, they plaid tired, they played as if they did not want to get hurt. They followed players, rather than rock & sock em. Clearly this defense is, was not playing for the team, the coach, the fans, but I saw players playing for a new team next year, knowing the salary dump is coming. This organization has let Joe down, never giving him a decent line, no real play makers; they got very lucky to win a Super Bowl; be glad. But Ozzie and the front office made huge mistakes the past 10 years in the draft and free agency. Maybe it is their scouts, but the buck stops somewhere. Every message board fan has said which players were going to be busts before the draft, yet Ozzie took em, those fans shown to be correct. The latest move to waste a 7th round pick is not so much about losing the pick, but in the type of player they traded for; another bust. Was it Eric or Ozzie? Time to move on, we, they all know Joe is not going to be back and this trick pony show every time the offense gets moving, passes the 50, is killing this team. Jackson is not ready but who cares at this point, start him, this season was over before it began, we knew it...
  22. This could be, looks to be another field goal game.....
  23. Another game I won't watch, sleep is more important. Likely to be a slaughter anyway... An offense that knows how to put routes together to get open men....
