He is a one dimesnional player, why would the Ravens want him? They were interested in him as an undrafted player, with plans to put him on the ps, but after seeing him in pre season, it is clear, he can't even play special teams, too slow, not a good tackler in open space. They have that in Simon, identical players..... I'm glad they kept Hurst and Urban around, two very good, potentially, players.

http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/49ers-de-ray-mcdonald-arrested-on-domestic-violence-charges-083114 Not a very good offseason for either Harbs coaches, numerous off the field issues for both teams, and suspensions to go around..... Get to it Goody.... A felony charge, I wonder wht he is accused of doing, not that fox would do their do diligence by reporting the actual charges.....

well, according to ESPN, per a source, breaking news, he will not be claimed off waivers and free to be the first openly gay black man to sign on some one's practice squad. Then there is the first openly gay blackman to be on an NFL roster. Next, the first openly gay white man, then the openly gay hispanic man, then islander, then, then, then......

niners lb Ray Mcdonald the first under the new policy to get accused of domestic violence........ Goody to the rescue..... -
Bothers is a bit strong, but yes, this was much a do about nothing since he as a 7th round pick. Now, a higher pick? Say 3rd or better I could understand, but this the first to do what ever is getting old. Hasn't man already done everything first? Why seperate by skin color or sexual orientation? Maybe we should find out who was the first bald man to get drafted, the first one to wear glasses or go comando.......

Champ is now a free agent, not sure he can cover any more but might make a good safety....
-
Yes, too many and with his skill set, unable to really cover, even in zone, they needed the roster spot for a more all around player. They are granted I think 3 extra spots, with the injury pup, and two suspensions. However, when/if those players come back they would have to release players, so who knows what they will do... Go into the season with 53 or 50.

Breaking News! According, anyway, to the media, a 7th round draft pick was released............. Yes, he may get picked up by another, so stay tuned, we will keep you updated with all the latest 7th round draft picks who get cut or sign with another team, that is, unless they are not gay......

I suppose if Wenning makes it through waivers he will be on the practice squad. The Jensen cut could be simply making room in case a better player is cut else where. If not, maybe they bring him back, on the cheap if he is not picked up.

NFl implements NEW domestic violence standards

Maybe I am reading this wrong, but the writer is incorrect. A 2nd offense would mean life time ban. Also, if assault & battery are included, this means that if a woman wants to get her bo in toruble, she can report him for cussing her out, yelling at her, which is assualt. I do agree hitting women is wrong, but people get mad and yell, degrade each other, this should not be a 6 game suspension. I wonder, is hitting a man, getting into fights included in this? If a gay player hits their significant other, does that fall into this category? -
Yippie, again, pre season against scrubs. Let us see if he can regain his form, then we can chat more. Frankly, I hope he does, the Ravens are desperate for help in the secondary, obvious by this move and the clearing of cap space. Most in the know saw this move as desperate because of his track record. Keep in mind, the Ravens were playing a simple defense, straight zone alternating with straight man, not complicated, even for some one on the team for two days.......

NFl implements NEW domestic violence standards
tsylvester replied to tsylvester's topic in Baltimore Ravens
They have, some what. They say they will stick up for the players, blah, blah, blah. There isn't much they can do since they gave his office the power to level any type of punishment when it comes to actions detrimental to the league. The key here will be what he does with Irsay when he cuts a deal or is convicted. Goody better come down harsh or there will be a huge outcry from the NFLPA. I think, on this issue, it should be 6 games first offense, a year for the second and then a life time ban, with mandatory theropy inbetween. Similar to how they do the drug testing, 3 chances before major penalties. A life time ban is a major step for what can turn out to be a he said she said, especially when the man is only defending him self, sometimes walking away is not an option. -
One play in one game against guys who will not be playing in the NFL this season.... again, he was cut THIS year, twice, once by SD who gave him $20 mil last year, once by Mini in this FIRST cut downs. Maybe he comes back to his rookie form, maybe he doesn't. Stats do not tell an entire story, but the Jags, who need corner help, let him walk, SD, who needs corner help cut him, and Mini who needs corner help cut him. Those people know more about him and this game than you or I.....

DEONTE THOMPSON HAS MADE HIS CASE ..........
tsylvester replied to rastaman831226's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I wouldn't say for sure, but he certainly looked great last night. He played with a confidence he lacked before. Good routes, catching with his hands, running his routes crisp. This should be an interesting decision. -

I think it is both, saving face, but also admitting they needed stronger penalties for this. I do wonder what will hapen with Gregg Hardy, who is awaiting trial on his arrest, his case. Since his happened before the change does he get the lesser, or does he get the full? As I understand it, he was expected to get 6 games before the change..... -

Oh the national sports news has been saying that since this began and even more now that Joshy got suspended for a year,. I certainly hope they base it on a conviction or admission of gilt, including the way Rice did with a deal, other wise this could get ugly. -
No, really?

WOW, 1st offense will be a 6 game suspension, 2nd will be a life time ban. Unlclear as to whether or not one has to be convucted, arrested or just accussed...... ESPN reporting this is a done deal. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24659720/report-nfl-considering-tougher-penalties-for-domestic-violence-cases

Buy or not, it is the truth. He is a cover corner, not a zone corner, Tampa ran zone 90% + of the time, taking away his cover ability. Last season, the Ravens front was weak as well, dispite what the sack numbers might say. Most of those sacks came in a few game stretch against poor teams. As the season went on, the pressures were few & far between. This year still remains to be seen, even with a great preseason so far from them. TBird, I do agree he has been slow to respon, but it is not that he doesn't get it, he does, he just thinks too much and doesn't let his instincts take over. When he has, we saw the results, great play.
-
Since he came into the league the Ravens have faced a number of teams each year that run a form of the read option & or have running quarterbacks. This, as I said, combined with his cheap contract, yes, even for a back up, and his great attitude keep him around.
-
Revis had an off year because of his injury and they used him wrong. Chykie is actually a good player, but inconsistant. With more time, he will get more consistant. Who ever wrote that quote is quite a bit of a mostly sunny as apossed to partly cloudy type of person when it comes to the Ravens. In Mini, he never got the chance to play with their fron four because he didn't work well in the packages, and cannot cover. He relies too much on his speed to make up for his lack of instinct as SD found out after giving him a giant contract.

Josh Gordon appeal denied, suspended one season
tsylvester replied to ravinmaniac52's topic in Cleveland Browns
Pot is anot really a drug one gets hooked on, though it is possible. It is the life style. He wasn't suspended for a year simply because he failed another test. He was given the full amount, had it not reduced because of his attitude, his inability to take responsibilty for what he did, for his poor choices. Even if this was second hand smoke, he still, once again, showed poor descetion by beig around people, in a car no less, who were doing something that could get him not just suspended, but arrested. HIs remarks afterward show it clearly, he thinks he can do no wrong. Add in his choice to drink & drive, AFTER this incident, just proves it more; his issue isn't drugs, his issue is pride. -
I've never been a "fan" of Eisenburg, so it doesn't shock me he wouldwrite such tripe just to publish an article, get fan talking. Taylor is very inaccurate, even after all this time in the NFL, he still doesn't have the proper mechanics whn NOT under pressure, when pressure is on, they really break down. He doesn't read coverages well, doesn't see the feid well, doesn't seem to have the ability or confidence to look off defenders. Add to that he is more a runner than qb, his slight frame, he would be lucky to make it through 8 games, let alone 16 and I doubt the Ravens could win more than four games with him back there. They keep him around because of all the teams who use the read option, he is a very good scout team quarterback with low salary who does what he is asked. A great team player.
