  1. This pick is looking better by comparison. Ramsey tore his meniscus and is likely out until at least midseason. Not to mention it's the same knee he had microfracture surgery (!) on in HS. Then it is reported that Tunsil allegedly has a chronic ankle problem (unconfirmed). Give me the guy who will play 16+ games in a season!
  2. Wow what a win. We usually do not get those sort of wins. Nice to get one you don't expect to after we've lost a few we should have won.
  3. I can see the similarities to Torrey, but Moore is longer and has bigger hands than Torrey. Moore probably tracks the ball and high points the ball a lot better than Torrey, but Torrey is without a doubt a couple steps faster. I think a better comparison is Demetrius Williams. Williams was a similar sized rangy receiver who ran in the low-4.5s. Williams was a long strider like Moore who could get deep, he just never developed the ability to consistently beat the press and make plays downfield. With Williams it was always "that was almost a great catch!"
  4. Rickards has been terrible the past twenty games or so. He's been killing us at lead off. Hate to put Manny there but we need to get some production from LF. Even when Rickards hits the ball its extremely weak. Sure he works counts, but pitchers pitch him to contact because he has low exit velocity and a poor BAIP. Maybe try Reimold at lead off?
  5. Marvelous five out save by Britton! Let's catch Seattle sleepy with the early 12:35 game tomorrow!
  6. Dixon is one of my favorite picks. He fumbles twice as much as he should, however, he is well rounded. I'm excited to see how he does.
  7. A decision needs to be made on Matusz. He cannot even get lefties out anymore. I hate getting rid of a young player who is chew and under team control, but maybe he is not completely healthy and needs to be put back on IR.
  8. He had a terrible year at the plate from July on. He also cannot hit lefties. Even when he was hitting well from April-June he struck out a lot and didn't walk. He's also not a natural outfielder. With that said, watch him turn into another late blooming star for the Blue Jays.
  9. Yesterday was a bad loss. First Buck didn't challenge the inning ending DP hit by Álvarez where it appeared the Tigers first baseman had his heel off the bag. Given a run was at stake it was at least worth a look. Then we had the error by Rickards for losing the pop fly in the sun, which led to another run and more pitches by Gausman. And finally, the missed check swing strike call for JD Martínez which led to another two runs. Those sequence of plays equaled a four run swing to the Tigers.
  10. Saw this tweet: @DanClarkSports: Putting the O's great start into context, playing .500 ball from here on in will see them notch 87 wins. This team will get 90+ for sure. Haven't done the math myself but this highlights the advantage of getting off to a hot start.
  11. It's hard to play the "should have" game unless you're comparing apples to apples: for example we should have taken Pharoh Cooper over Chris Moore, Roddy White over Mark Clayton. Who knows where we had Antonio Brown rated. 25 teams passed on him in the sixth round alone. Hard to know what his value was on our board versus a high potential OT. We had taken David Reed the round before. We were not going to take another WR in the sixth round. If we want to question a pick, it should be why we had Reed rated higher than Brown? Both guys coming out were projected as average sized slot guys with return ability. The one thing that will stick out to me is that year how we let Dez Bryant go one pick before us and didn't even seem to make an effort to trade up. That was the Sergio Kindle and Terrance Cody draft where Ozzie got too cute. All things considered that was Ozzie's worst draft. I hope we did not make the same mistake missing out on trading up for Ramsey.
  12. Glad you got to see a win! Bet you never guessed the one game you'd go see would be a pitcher's duel. Have a good time?
  13. Shrewd move. Waited until the day after compensation pick requirements expired.
  14. The Orioles hitters are obvious reading this topic: see all those base hit RBIs last night?
  15. I dominated with Clarence Moore in Madden. Clarence Moore and Randy Hymes were my two favorite Ravens receivers haha
  16. I agree with TS... I thought for sure Pharoh Cooper would have been a Ravens "Red Star" player. Polished player with great character; awesome production in the SEC with crap QB play; high IQ; doesn't have one elite trait but does everything well; most importantly for the Ravens, he wouldnt have needed much coaching. Rams got a great pick. On Moore, half the scouts/analysts seemed liked him, half seemed to not like him. I'm skeptical, but we have him now. Put him at split end and see if he can get open downfield. Joe hasn't really had a deep threat who can attack a ball at its high point. Might as well give Moore a chance.
  17. I'm not worried about the bats. We have so many guys that can but that the bats will stagger hot and cold most likely. Sure our BA with RISP is poor but we also get many more runs from solo and two run home runs that most teams wouldn't get. Cool article on what Trumbo worked on this offseason: http://m.masn.mobi/steve-melewski/2016/05/talking-exit-velocity-with-the-orioles-mark-trumbo.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter A poor exit velocity is one of the indicators that have many thinking Rickards pace is unsustainable.
  18. Two straight series wins! Twins are terrible, let's get the sweep!
  19. I feel bad for him. I couldn't care less whether or not he used PEDs.
  20. I'm in the same boat. If I am drafting a LT top ten I want him to be strong as an ox, while still having quick feet, and a massive human like JO. Otherwise, you can draft a LT with an athletic body in the second round, who can be later developed into a solid player. As ts said in another topic, Stanley's skill set is very similar to Oher's coming out. Hopefully Stanley's high intelligence will help him become a Pro Bowler. Something Oher obviously didn't have. I really want to like this pick. If we had drafted Stanley in the 12-15 range I'd be happy with the pick. But considering who we passed to draft Stanley, he has huge (and maybe unfair) expectations to live up to.
  21. Don't forget Kyle Boller, Travis Taylor, Mark Clayton, and the two drafts where we traded down to get Sergio Kindle and Courtney Upshaw. And there's no defending Oher, he was at best a slightly above average right tackle. For a guy who was drafted to be our left tackle for Flacco's career, he was a colossal bust! My point being, we have a good track record of first round picks, but Ozzie's performance is not immune to criticism. His drafts haven't been strong the past few years. We as fans certainly have the right to question him. Fair or not, Stanley will always be compared to what we passed up: Tunsil and Buckner. Further, the collective careers of Stanley, Correa and Kaufusi will be compared to what we could have had with Ramsey and Jack. This draft could be the year we look back and say "Ozzie was brilliant" or could be the year where we realized Ozzie completely lost his magic.
  22. Interesting you say that, Tennesee traded back up to eight to take Jake Conklin from MSU. Conklin is likely to be a RT in the pros, but I wonder if Tennessee would have still taken Conklin over Stanley?
