I don't think the ball has to get ALL the way OUT. Just like it doesn't have to get all the way IN. The rules favor the offense.
  2. If that's the case... I want Leonhard on the TE... Landry on the WR.

Bottom line: a running back cannot grab a facemask and pull on it. That was the point whether it's a facemask, hands to the face or illegal touching in the frontal head region.
  4. Well, they all picked the Steelers, so it wasn't quite "regardless of who the Ravens play" Still silly question

Really, Force? What would the officials call when they throw that flag then? "Illegal thrusting of hands towards the face and or neck?"

Runningbacks can be called for facemasking. Same rule for defenders- can't hold, pull or twist.
  7. Lots of fun pics of them sobbing. But their whining on gotitans is kinda funny. My fav is that they are still complaining about Reed "bending Johnson in half." Reed was trying to strip the ball. The fact that the announcers were yelling doesn't mean anything. And the penalty on the same play was away from the ball - it wasn't about the lineman pulling Reed off him.
  8. Have to disagree a bit. Football savvy? Absolutely. Loudness? Eh. Even ESPN writers were commenting earlier this week about how Tennessee isn't the mosh pit it once was. It's just plain mediocre. I didn't like how Diefdorff kept coming back to it. I had my whole stereo on and the noise still wasn't as loud as I have heard other places (including Baltimore) this year. The fans were good... not great, in my opinion.
  9. I agree 100% here. Normally the team who hits more wins... we somehow flipped that yesterday. We got beat up and down the field on both sides of the ball... but lured them in. It wasn't planned. It won't work again any time soon, I bet. But it worked yesterday and that's all that mattered. Couldn't say it better.

Crav, that is one play where they showed multiple replays. It was White. His knee was in the endzone, but barely. The ball had clearly broken the plane out of the endzone at that point... if only by an inch.

Well duh. But even major news sources are talking about it. Just. silly
  14. Playcalling sucked on both sides of the ball for the Ravens. Why don't we throw underneath like all these teams we play? Joe is getting in the habit of homerun or deep ball only. Don't forget the in betweens!

I agree on the PF call and downs, but white was out of the endzone. I was just going to add that in the Titans first three drives, the ravens d was called for a few tickytack defensive contacts. Not worth as much as the PF, but still auto first down. Btw- replay shows joe didn't step out of the endzone, so why is that being listed as a controversial call everywhere???
  16. You see that Scott filled in... I see that we had Adalius Thomas outside, Terrell outside... Johnson helping (at the time we thought he was just standing in, now we know better)... we had a healthier Kelly Gregg... I see it differently. Scott has actually gotten worse in his last two years with this team in my mind... he's uncotrollable, he's not very disciplined... his biggest strengths are hitting QBs and stopping the run... but we have seen lots of guys come in and do that on this team. By the way... all the SB talk is way out of line. Let this team play first. If they play well, if they win or if they don't, I think we will see lots of guys back because of how strong this team looks for the next few years.

    a weak link

Except that Harris' weakness may have needed help and made it easier on the ends rushing. I like suggs' chances if they are giving extra help to Harris.

Collins like Pennington. Give this D a second look and they will dominate.
  19. Does darling have kids? Heap and Stover send their kids to McD. My mom teaches there and it sees it's fair share of big name parents. DUB may have gotten to meet DD there.
  20. Even if it's our defensive leaders... Scott isn't one of them. And if Ray leaves any time... Scott won't be able to hold his unit together. I'd rather look for another leader than just hang on to Scott just because.
  21. Could go many ways... He could come in and blow everyone away. He knows how to throw strikes... has good pitches... etc... it could happen. He could come in and struggle mightily with the change to MLB, but find his way next year. He could throw Josh Towers kind of strikes... the kind that land in the bleachers. His game could completely fail at the MLB level. Who knows. I'd rather have a complete unknown than some of the remaining 'knowns' Let's go get Kawakami too!
  22. Gotta disagree with much of this. Scott is a role player in this defense who looks like a standout next to everyone else's effort. He's bad in pass coverage, he misses tackles, he can't shed blocks... and then we can get to attitude That's not to say he isn't a good linebacker... because he certainly is. He knows how to hit and stop the run. But I think he is hugely overvalued. And I will again point to Edgerrin Hartwell. If we are able to keep Scott, great. But at the expense of Ray, Terrell, Jason Brown?? I don't know. I simply think we have plenty of talent linebackers and it will not be too hard to find a guy to step into Bart's position. Bart is helped by the terrific play of everyone around him... and even then he makes as many mistakes as he goes great plays. Let him go and we'll have a next man up to fill the void. I can think of 9 starters on this defense I worry about more than Scott.
  23. No doubt first rounder... I think a receiver is in order... there are lots of good ones out there this year.
  24. No surprise. He'll be a first rounder.
  25. Well, for UMD, win total has always seemed to matter more... We were 20-9 and 20-10 for two straight seasons ... both with winning records in the conference... and didn't make the tourney. Play easier teams early... makes it easier to get OVER 20 wins... and then its harder for them to deny.
