Cam and Joes situation reminds me of the non-invite invite where you are invited to a trip or event that someone knows you cant attend. Something is going to have to give here !

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Even if Joe were to have a good game on Sunday, how will he do on the road next Sunday ? Crav - what ever happened to the coaches proclamation of "taking the handcuffs off Joe" this year ?

Rodney Harrison. Who cares ?

The Steelhurtin, Theres my point. Thank you !

Lost in all the post-Jax carnage discussion is the fact that Joe has had to endure a very difficult path as a NFL QB for a perennial playoff team in a demanding sports City. First, he came from a CAA school,- Delaware- after getting past over at Pitt. He didnt actually come from the an ideal setting or school known for grooming QBs. In other words, he was a project. Second, he gets the job by default after Boller and Troy Smith go down and suddenly he's the man. No real mentorship, no holding the clipboard and watching the action from the sidelnes. Next, he takes the team for the next three years into the playoffs - yes, with a top ten defense - but with no real tutor or mentor. He had Bulger last year but hes gone. He's had an OL and WR corps thta resembles a game of musicval chairs prs a Fast forward to 2011, now he has Cam as his mentor and OC. Its like a junior employee working alongside, directly with his company';CEO or CFO. There is no in between guy- a buffer between Flacco and Cam. No senior QB to talk to, fraternize with, learn from, etc. I'm not making excuses for Joe. He stunk up the joint Monday night and against Tennessee. He'll have a few more stinkers too- probably at Pittsburgh, Cinci and Seattle and maybe more. In my opinion, without a player/mentor, Joe will gradually improve but will stub his toes along the way. In the meantime, we have to be patient with Joe and his maturation process.

CBS Sports: Ravens not happy with officiating Monday night
varaven45 replied to ExtremeRavens's topic in News Feeds
Crav, Exactly. Its a losers' mentality to put it on the officials. The team wasnt ready and lost the game. -
Its time to start playing with a sense of urgency, that EVERY game must be approached as a playoff game. Even now, only 6 games in. We have used up two mulligans - that it ! We'll see just how bad our boys want it, starting Sunday.
-
Smoke em huh ? After Monday nights debacle, really ? On a more candid note, Crav, do you see the FO pursuing any WR FAs (e.g. Berriam) in the event Evans doesnt return.

Lost of discussion amongst the ESPN experts - Golic, Gruden, Schefter, Greenberg, etc- about the bogus interference call this morning.. I watched it again last night in slow motion and it was without question a perfect hit. We got screwed by a horrible. How is a coach supposed to teach his players how to properly an offensive player. We might as well be playing flag football.eh ? What worse, that interference call extended Jax drive which ultimately led to a nearly 10 minute drive which led to points (FG). Those were big points in a close game. That hit and drive killer by Pollard might have been the mo' changer we needed to turn the game around. At the very least, we would have gotten the ball back and who knows ? Back to the point - the NFL is becoming the National Flagfootball League.

I'm gonna say it, we should have kept Zorn and fired Cam

DC, Our guys were clueless at times last night. We had better get this crap cleaned up.....and fast.... before we poop our season and our stealth D away. We just need to let the players play the damn game ! -
"If they get punched, they fold into a fetal position". Max, that sounds like a Brian Billickism

Max, Its a tough pill to swallow but you are right. The offense is a huge mess and Harbaugh, Cam, the OL, Joe are all to blame. But Joe just doesnt seem to have IT. He doesnt or hasnt yet shown the fire, passion or will to win, especially in pressure packed situations. I dont know that he ever will. To his defense, he has never had a true mentor (Cam certainly aint that), his WR corps is constantly changing, and his OL sucks. A top QB like Brady or Rodgers would overcome and make something happen, take the team on his back, and win. Joe hasnt taken that step and I dont know he ever can. Its a tough pill for any fan to swallow. . , -
Crav, Like what ? How do you know ? What are the Biscuit. Ozzie doing about it ?
-
Aside from the horrible play calling, our Offense is really challenged without the servies of Grubbs and Evans. These guys have been hobbling around for almost 2 months. We need their production and they are tying up roster spots. Isnt it time to fish or cut bait with these guys ? Either play em or put em on IR and get someone else. Frustrating.

52: Exactly. Joe has no emotion which doesnt necessarily prevent him from being a football player. However, as a leader, Joe needs to show passion or emotion to inspire and pick up his team (like last night). Maybe a 2L bottle of Jolt Cola, a smack around from RayRay and some serious romancing from his bride would do the trick

Last night's God awful performance signals an alarming, disturbing trend: the team's inability to perform consistently well from week to week. We blow out the Steelers, act like we won the damn Super Bowl, then take off the next week in Tennessee. Go out and whip a solid, alleged playoff team in Houston, then lay a monster egg last night against a Blaine Gabbbert led team. Did I say a Blaine Gabbert led team for Gods sakes ? What happened to our so called Super Bowl favorite ? How did it (esp the offense) take its collective foot off the gas pedal until the last 4-5 minutes of the game ? How did a team, playing in the spotlight of MNF, literally get whipped and punched in the mouth at the LOS all night long ? Watch the tape and see how Jax's D owned our OL all night long. How many more times are we going to hear the Coach say we gotta get better, work harder and execute better; only to watch them repeat the same thing over and over again ? . How long will it take Harbaugh to instill in his team there has to be zero tolerance for performances like last night's listless, uninspired, effort ? How long before Biscottl and Harbaugh acknowledge and accept the fact this team's offense will not play at a consistenly high enough level to become an elite team until we turn the OC reins over to some one else ? Our O's lack of urgency was on center stage last night until the last 4-5 minutes. How long before our D just says "screw it", we cant bail out this offense every week ? Our team's season and success hinges on how we decisively address these questions.

Understood. Good points !
-
The D is playing well. It needs to play lights out against Jax Monday night and stifle MJD and Gabbert right from the get go. The Jags, while 1-5, are playing teams very tough (Last Sunday vs Steelers) and would love nothing better than to upset a playoff contending team on MNF. As far as seeing their best, Yager, who are we getting back thats going to improve the D ? Is Carr an upgrade and is Smith even returning this year ? I am starting to think Grubbs, Evans are going on IR, unsure about Smith.
-
Max, Good win for sure against a quality opponent. Gotta stick the rock in the end zone though instead of the dang FGs. We were very fortunate Texans were w/o Andre Johnson. Just saying. Jags will be a tough draw Monday night. They gave the Steelers everything they could handle at the Burgh. They even outscored them 10-0 in second half ( I believe) and were driving to take the lead before thy ran out of time. This wont be an easy game against a team on MNF in there house. .ieve jyte , . and were driving for the

Vmax, You are right. These supposed "*** I'm stupid for thinking this game is easy ***" games always make us a bit skiddish. Hopefully, we learned our lesson in week 2 (titans). We'll see !
-
Yager, Spot on bro. You watch Aaron Rodgers and he works in every WR and turns them all into All Pros. I think their waterboy is a Pro Bowl alternate. Joe needs to step up, get game and make it happen. It all starts Sunday vs Houston. C'mon Joe !
-
Colincac, Are you and Crav related or drink the same koolaid ?
-
As Max said, the Texans are desperate and need the win. Its the NFL and its on any given Sunday. I see a very, very tough ball game. Statistically, we are very close : Houston is 8th in Total Offense, 7th in Defense. We are 14th in Offense, 3rd in Defense. Take away Andre Johnson and Mario Williams, and its still a close game. Teams w/ missing and dinged up stars tend to overachive - see Steelers beatdown of Titans. Offensively, Houston (Schaub) has some serious talent around him, even without AJ. Our D must keep Schaub and Foster in check right from the get go. Once those guys get going, they are a very dangerous team. Defensively, sans Mario, they have a very good defensive team. I expect a very close game withe 3-5 pt margin of victory.

Colt McCoy, Mark Sanchez, and Rex Grossman
varaven45 replied to yagersports's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Yager, Fortunately, Joe has time to get this right. Its not where the team/Joe is now, but where team/ he is in December/January. We have heard 'ad nauseum' about the need for Joe getting comfortable with his WR corps. Its true. He really needs to get accliimated with Boldin, Smith, Evans (when healthy), Doss, etc. Sure, he's not Aaron Rodgers, Brees, or Brady and not going to be. But until he get comfortable with his receiving corps and OL, Joe will continue to have uneven performances - sharp one week, bad the next. Perhaps, as his OL and WR play together more and consistently, Joe will improve to 2 solid games, followed by a stinker. Who knows, by the end of the season, he might eliminate the bad games all together. The good news - Joe has faced three of the toughest Ds in the NFL- Steelers, Jets and Titans - on the front end with a limited group of receivers. Perhaps his familiarity and continuity with his WRs/OL and an improved running game coincides with a more foregiving schedule as we approach the back end. Until then, lets be patient with Joe and trust he gradually finds his mojo and peaks at seasons end , , -
What do you want to see changed during the bye
varaven45 replied to cravnravn's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Max, It must have been electric at M & T last night. I recorded on DVR and am watching tonight. It was interesting (though not surprising) that Joe (and Cam) were chucking it all over in the 2nd Q and almost let the Jets back in. Sometime very soon, we are going to have to CONSISTENTLY pound the rock, especially as approach December. Ray is our man, no doubt, but I dont know that he is our "hammer" in the December, nor do I think Ricky Willaims is the pounder. Either way, Cam and Co need to polish our running game and properly game plan our running and passing attack. The Houston game would be a perfect opporunity to pound it- they are yielding almost 5 yds/carry. I think the O needs to re-establish the run and balance the two appropriately for the game and situation. Joe is much more comfortable when he has a strong running attack and he can work in some play action.
