Good defense....it must be right. I'm sure there are loads of 6-9 340 finesse guys out there. I'm sure his finesse play allowed him to pave through lineman on his way to blocking for our heavy run oriented approach in Flacco's rookie year??? The guy absolutely obiliterated guys off the line of scrimmage on multiple plays all year long. That's exactly how everyone fell in love with the guy. He was a road grader with attitude that could also pass block. This pass season he worked very hard and succeeded I might add and developing his pass blocking skills. The guy improved tremendously. Truth is....now Gaither is a little of both because he has worked hard at becoming a complete lineman. However he was never a "finesse" guy as you put it. He started as a power guy coming out of college and has worked hard to improve his skills. If Gaither is a "finesse" guy that Edwin Mulitalo is the spokesman for Jenny Craig. lol

Gaither isn't a Mauler???? Does anyone here actually watch a Ravens game, the guy is ridiculous against the run. He's a killer. Sometimes I think people just write stuff on here just to write stuff. Saying Gaither isn't a Mauler is just plain silly. That's the one thing Gaither truely is. He turned out to be a good pass blocker as well because he worked hard.

I scratch my head as to why we ever let Stover go. The guy didn't get touchbacks, but that certainly wasn't killing us. It's not ideal, but also not something that breaks a teams back. I remember coaches saying they were frustrated that they had to keep a kickoff specialist on the roster. So what, we couldn't have one extra guy on the sideline that would probably see no action and not contribute in any form or fashion?
-
Didn't seem to bother the Colts any???? Stover kicked many for them all year and it wasn't Stover that lost them the Super Bowl. Hmmmm. Who gives a damn how many FGs a kicker hits during the regular season if they miss the big one??? Do you honestly thing the Bills and fans shrug their shoulders and say well.....Norwood hit a lot of kicks during the regular season so we'll let the Super Bowl one slide. Do you thing the Minnesota Vikings with a 15-1 season with a Perfect kicker give a rats ass he didn't miss a FG until the very last play of the NFC championship game and they went home instead of to the Super Bowl??? He was reeeeaaaaallllll good in the regular season though, probably best ever! What about the Titans. They had an upstart defensive team with no offense on the ropes until there regular season wonder Del Greco missed two very important kicks. In case you have forgot, that upstart team was us!!!! Kicking in the postseason is the most important stat. If we have an 80% or better kicker that shanks a few here and there but is money when the pressure is on, there's no reason to get rid of them. There is no room for guys with weak stomachs in this game. I'll take a Vinateri any day. The guy is never incredible during the regular season average wise, however he's money when in counts......and that is WHAT MATTERS.

You know lol....as I was typing I was thinking please don't let anyone notice lol. I was tryin to make a point without exposing one of our own possible weaknesses lol. Can't get away with anything here lol.

Very well thought out and delivered. Allow me to retort....another way to say the above is....he's good except for when it matters. Yet another way to put it is the guy chokes under pressure. Once again if I'm allowed to expand further, he'll be dependable until you need him to win in the playoffs. Sounds like a sound plan! Let's bring him in! Maybe we could find a great regular season QB that folds up shop in the playoffs as well! Honestly....sometimes I wonder about people.

I usually wait until after the Super Bowl before making an informed power ranking decision. At that point I feel pretty confident.

I love it lol lol, do teams not like awesome receivers???? Just another crappy pick-up and offseason acquisition according to smurf!!!! Looks like Oz does know what he's doin!
-
That's a very good point. Boldin is essentially our third round pick. A very good way to look at things. As usual, I'm very excited about the draft...ready to add the best player available.

The Big Question: Is Ravens' offense elite?
yagersports replied to cravnravn's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Well, to answer the question title of the thread......yes we are now elite!!!!!!! Pitt better be ready. Also.....this year we finally exercise the Colts Curse.......we're finishing that team off. -
That's sound logic....I hope it works out in our favor. I feel like Edwards is on the tip of a two to three stretch where he'll be highly productive in the right role. Hopefully he realizes that too and wants that production to be here in Bmore.

I don't like the sounds of a rift bet cam and flacco. That's not good, hopefully it will be something that winning will fix. As for the Gaither stuff wow we went round and round with that on another thread lol. -
With all the WR experience on this team...it really would be silly not to bring in a hard workin WR. Not a primadonna etc..but one that is humble and recognizes a superb opportunity to learn from some good wideouts. I'd like to pick up a rook and be all set at WR. In any case, as Cleetz has said earlier....Oz has set us up for BPA, and that's the end game. BPA equals best quality athletes on a team. We weren't looking for Reed or Suggs when we got em...they just fell to us. BPA baby.

The Big Question: Is Ravens' offense elite?
yagersports replied to cravnravn's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Absolutely.....if Flacco learns to audible and for cryin out loud....throw over the middle! That's our biggest weakeness as a passing offense. The Monday night Packer loss was a perfect illustration. Packers were in a 3-4 most of the night and as soon as the ball was snapped, both inside linebackers would make a beeline for the sidelines because they absolutely knew that Flacco would not throw over the middle. Flacco needs to be able to throw the slant consistently with accuracy. -
I agree completely....I'm just sayin imagine the possibilities. That could rival the 1999 Vikes with Moss, Carter, Reed, & Smith. Ultimately it would be too much money wrapped up in one position but it would be fun to watch.
-
I'd like it very much if Mason comes back for the same reasons you mentioned. However if Marshall teamed with Boldin, we could release Flacco and let my 10yr old son sign to QB lmao.
-
Didn't this guy have a bright future with Favre in GB at one point???? What was his deal? Didn't he become another prima donna WR headcase? If I remember correctly he did have one heck of a skill set.
-
To be fair, I went back and reviewed our posts and I did miss a point that you were tring to make. I do agree that if ultimately the Ravens deceide that Gaither is not in our long-term plans, I'd like to get a first round pick. However I would rather the team make him a part of our long term plans. Just wanted to give credit where it was due.
-
I wouldn't mind Holt here at all. The guy still has something left, although I def prefer Mason because of his familiarity with Flacco and our offense. You know it seems that the market may be down for Marshall.......imagine if you will a scenario in which Oz snags Marshall to pair with Boldin! I know extreeeeeeemly unlikely.....but wow!
-
You know that doesn't sound too bad. I liked Washington, thought he made some clutch catches.
-
Lmao!!!!!!! Nice
-
Also......if we draft high in the first round...we'll be paying LT money for a guy that is.......unproven!!!!!!!!!! Yes I want to pay now, win now. We're ready, now's the time. Make pay cuts elsewhere, not at the OT position. LB, Safety, and Guards are where you sign people to smaller contracts. Obviously there are exceptions as we have two on this team.
-
Ok....honestly Pashos??? The guy garnered a top contract but no way did he play up to that contract or we would have given him one. That's why he's being released now. It also happened with Maake, he was way overpayed albeit DL not OL. Oz is great at determining value.....well except for the foxworth thing....I'm not sure what he was thinking lol. Now Brown was a mauler against the run, but a total liability against the pass which proves my point. Finding guys that can do both is very very hard. Finding two guys is even harder. Brown and Flynn were big reasons why our QBs spent alot of time on their asses. I can remember several times where they got popped right in the mouth cuz Brown couldn't peel back fast enough. My point is and always has been finding two guys with great talent is hard, when you get it, keep it. I'm tired of serviceable and adequate. Anyone who thinks Brown or Pashos was more than either of those two words is really drinkin the purple cool aide. Now Yanda...I don't try to talk about what I feel I don't know about. It was my impression this guy is an outstanding guard, but an adequate tackle. Someone that can fill in until a regular tackle is found. Doesn't this guy play guard for us???

Hey.......Mike made a funny!!!!! lmao
