Flacco had ample opportunity to put this game out of reach early. He should be scoring more period. The new TE on our team was targeted waaaaay too much. Put the god damn ball in the freakin Vets hands!

How many fines will be handed out as a result of this game?
yagersports replied to Preacher's topic in Baltimore Ravens
No question with the passion of the game, Harrison and Suggs with both do something silly. They both play the, "there's just no way we can tackle any other way" card, however they're both awesome athletes, they absolutely can. A week after Harrison received his second fine of the year, he totally seperated a runner from the ball with a super clean low formed tackle. It was vicious, and it was legal. The players will change and adapt and they should. I refer to my rugby arguement. Players in rugby absolutely have to tackle a certain way and no one questions the tenacity of that game. -
Keys to the Game: On Offense 1. I agree, give Flacco time 2. Get Boldin the ball 3. Run somthing that has imagination, reverse, wildcat, flea flicker, something. On Defense 1. Contain Mendenhall, we have trouble with shift backs, if we contain this guy, Ben is going to make his mistakes.

I agree with Cleetz on this one, I really thing we should maximize our talents. Using a FB that was not signed to any other team is not putting the best players on the field. We need to run some WR screens to both Boldin and Housh. They both run well after the catch. We also absolutely need to go deep at least twice to Stallworth alone. Throw it up, let the guy make a play! It also wouldn't hurt to run a couple reverses and perhaps we could throw some wrinkles in Boldin at QB in Wildcat. Cmon, get creative, make things happen. I'm sure not all things I've mentioned will or should be done, but cmon, put a couple in, change things up some, take some deep shots!

How confident are you going into Sunday?
yagersports replied to OutsideRzAcE's topic in Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens won 66% of ESPN simulations! What does this mean? I know it really doesn't mean anything at all lol, but really, we're favored? It seems to me that every time we're favored, we don't fare well. Please oh please work out this time! I really want this game in the worst way! -

I too am a bit pessimistic on a win. I really feel the Steelers, at this point, are the better football team. What's more unfortunate is that I think we have the better personnel. We're just not capitalizing on what we have here in Baltimore. No points in the second half of the Tampa game says alot about where this offense is going. We continually fail on 3 & 4th down in short yardage situations. We also do not have these receivers involved enough, we don't take enough deep chances in games. Interceptions on deep throws are similar to punts for crying out loud. Our defense has always struggled against smaller one cut and go backs. Mendenhall fits that bill. Why oh why we don't throw WR screens to Boldin is a mystery, that guy runs those sooooo well. Why oh why we can't run a screen pass, etc. I don't think the Steelers are invincible, I just don't see them losing. I feel the Steelers win this one with authority. 24-10. -
We're winning despite our weaknesses, that is a very good thing. The Pats should have lost to us, today to the Colts, and to San Diego. The good teams find ways to win despite weaknesses. The Pats have just as glaring weaknesses as we do. I believe that yes we should have pounded this team. No, despite the final score, we did not. I'm sure that the coaching staff isn't satisfied and I'm sure that they'll continue to work hard. The only thing I'm worried about is when Mattison says stuff like he said in his news conference this week. He actually said that he's still running the same defense that Rex was running when Rex was here. That's just dishonest and stupid to think that people will buy that. What's the point of saying something like that? Everyone knows there's no way you're running that defense. I find that strange.

Ok, never said Revis wasn't good, I'm saying Rex has made him great. That's fact, he simply wasn't all world until Rex showed up and maximized his abilities. Revis being there before didn't propel the Jets defense to likes the Jets have seen the past two years. It was Rex. As for Mattison needing more talent. I can't deny that and I have never said that more talent wouldn't of course help. The real situation is that Mattison is way out of his league. More talent would always help. Who has Mattison maxed out talent wise? Who has stepped up from a rookie role and really performed under Mattison? The guy has shown me nothing except the ability to call way too soft coverages, not teach his corners any attention to detail as Webb looks lost. My favorite are his everyone run straight ahead blitzes. Those work really well. The guy is a great college coordinator, better obviously than I could be, however in the NFL, he's out of his league. Let's remember with enough talent anyone can win, Switzer won a super bowl. I'm talkin about maximizing talent and making something out of nothing. Something Mattison is absolutely not doing.
-
Also, it's not like Revis was a household name until Ryan got there. Once Rex arrived, it was Revis this and Revis that. Rex has a way of bringing out the best that Mattison does not seem to have.

We'll make the playoffs but this D as it stands now will be blown up in the first round. We'll be the Pats of last year. We need to pursue a blitz happy D coordinator in the offseason. Someone from the Dick Lebeau mold.
-
It would be very nice to have a rookie step up and perform, it's been awhile.
-
Mattison will be dismissed at the end of the season. Or at least he should be. This D is not so void of talent that 80 yards in 40 secs should have happened. That's what everyone is failing to realize. I don't think anyone is trying to make the point that this "D" should be just as good as some of our absolutely dominant "D's". What most people think is this should be a serviceable D. Capable of preventing a team from strolling downfield 80 yards in record time. It's not like we faced Manning, Brady, or Rivers last night, it was Matt Ryan. He's good, but cmon man, he hasn't looked like that all year. There's no argument, there is alot a legit NFL D coordinator can do to improve this defense. Another indicator that it's Mattison is the fact that we have trouble at stopping the run or pass at various points in all games this year. It's as if Mattison has no idea what's coming and hasn't prepared and/or called a good counter play and our guys are left out holding their jocks. This defense should have been capable of stopping Ryan on that last play, the only one to blame is Mattison.
-
Rex ryan went to an average jets defensive team and made them awesome! Their talent level isn't awesome either. Kris jenkins went out the first game of the year and the defense keeps on chugging. They have a glaring cover weakness with leonard and yet they manage to disguise coverage and create pressure from odd angles etc. We put corners on a plateau and blitz syraight ahead all at once. We eont drop lineman into coverage to confuse, we don't delay blitz, and we don't play enough "tight" zone. Our corners play about 3 miles off their receiver in zone coverage. All of this correctable by a coordinator.
-
I'm not impressed with the offense at all, however the full blame for this game falls on Mattison. Ryan looked like he was throwing against a college defense out there. In actuality, he indeed was throwing against a college defense since it's clear that Mattison does not know what it takes to run an NFL defense. Mattison should be dismissed immediately. I'm not saying the defense doesn't have holes, what I'm saying is that there's waaaaaaay tooooo much talent and experience on this defensive roster for 80 yards in 40 seconds to happen. If Harbs had any nuts whatsoever he would address an obvious weakness.

Have to agree with Force, the Falcons are not the team to derail this Freightrain. They will be weighed....they will be measured....and they will be found.....wanting.
-
At this point I imagine the Bengals are wishing they let Chad go and kept Houshamazoad.
-
These are the kind of guys you let go of when you can still get something for them.
-
Screw em! We'll beat the odds, then we'll find the schedule makers and deliver some Green Street Houligan justice! lol

The lack of a spy on Rice may have had something to do with the Phins having to respect Stallworth's ability to get open deep. First time all year I've seen Rice with that much room.
-
Pretty sweet, the beauty of being fans! The players better be thinking about the falcons however.
-
I think Stallworth has opened up some things for Rice and our offensive gameplan in general. I noticed a few times on Sunday that we ran Stallworth deep, Joe looked for him, saw he wasn't there, checked to Rice, and Rice had alot of room because guys had to be committed downfield. Not sure if that's a direct result of Stallworth or not, but it seems all year Rice hasn't been able to get the ball in the flats with any room to move.
-
Someone needs to explain to McClain that we're not the Steelers. We don't operate like that.
-
I'm thinking Reed might have a big day too! Reed usually preys on QBs that don't know him well. I bet ole Henne will know him after tomorrow! I'm tired of being conservative, I'm talkin smack from now on, what may come is what may come!

How does having four losses, one to an NFC team, and two outside the division constitute a cooked season? Hmmmmm, some people I think don't watch much football .

I don't think Mason took offense to being "old". Mason took offense that he can no longer play because he's old. Go ahead Chowder head, underestimate him. Poke the sleeping giant and see what happens.
