  1. I predict that after tomorrow Florida will be known, once again, as the land of the "Hanging Chad". Ravens 31 Dolphins 9. Ravens have a much better defense than Miami and our offense scored 40 more points this year than the you against stiffer competition. These are the only relevant numbers and why we are favored. To compare Miami's defense over a handful of recent games because of it's performance against pathetic teams including the all time leader of pics, Brett Favre, is insulting. You aren't even in the same league with our D. This game won't be close if the Ravens come to play. Oh, and since you like stats so much...look at our rookie QB's numbers on the road this year as opposed to home. For whatever reason, he plays better on the road.
  2. Scott falls into line Ravens linebacker confines standout act to his play By Edward Lee | edward.lee@baltsun.com - January 3, 2009 ...Scott, who agreed to a new contract with the Ravens while he was touring the Cleveland Browns' facility as a free agent in 2006, has not faced questions about his loyalty to the Ravens. The question now is whether the club's loyalty to Scott is as resolute. "I hope that they would return the favor," Scott said. "Like I've said, I've always wanted to be a Raven. I love doing the unexpected, and the athlete in this modern era coming in and spending his entire career with one team is rare, and it's even rarer for an undrafted free agent. I think it would be special, and I hope we can make it happen." more...
  3. Man with a plan Out of ashes of 5-11 season, Harbaugh has quietly, confidently remade Ravens in his mold, forging a winner By Ken Murray | ken.murray@baltsun.com January 2, 2009 One of the most intriguing things about John Harbaugh's first season with the Ravens is that he never had to find his way. It was there, in front of him, all along, mapped out with the wisdom of a seasoned coach. He may be a rookie head coach in the NFL, but he never lacked confidence. He may be a private, humble man, but he doesn't shrink at taking a stand. He may have coached special teams for nine years in Philadelphia, but he knows how to command the respect of an entire locker room. From that solid platform, the Ravens' playoff season was born, was nurtured and continues to grow. Sunday's AFC wild-card game in Miami against the Dolphins is as much a validation of the Harbaugh system as it is the Ravens' franchise. more...
  4. We've got one of them, he owns the Orioles. Hence the constant stream of losing seasons. Maybe it ought to be illegal for a lawyer to own a professional sports franchise. Happy New Year Everyone.
  5. Agreed. To put a slight twist on a previous post...football fans and columnists aren't the smartest people on the planet. Judgemental, arrogant, entitled know-it-alls yes, but not very smart. This is especially true of those who have never played. The same people who got on Suggs and Mason in the past for their so called selfish comments are running their big mouths again. Football is a team sport yes, but it's played by individuals and in the final analysis it's 11 individual matchups on any given play beating 11 individuals on the other side of the ball. "You never win a game unless you beat the guy in front of you. The score on the board doesn't mean a thing. That's for the fans. You've got to win the war with the man in front of you. You've got to get your man." Vince Lombardi We've got a frustrated RB who knows he hasn't contributed this year, so what. Now everyone needs to just STFU...we're in the playoffs, so cut the shit with all the melodrama and save us all the stupid psychobabble.
  6. Ravens' Pryce is a screenwriter By Kevin Van Valkenburg | kevin.vanvalkenburg@baltsun.com December 31, 2008 Ravens defensive end Trevor Pryce was walking through a suburban mall one day, holding the tiny hand of his daughter, Khary, when she asked him a question that shaped the second act of his already unique American life. Stopping at a mall fountain, Khary gazed down at the hundreds of pennies and wondered aloud what would happen if the pennies got mixed up and you got the wrong wish? Pryce laughed, not really sure what to say. His daughter moved on to other things, but for Pryce, the idea lingered. Wouldn't a tale of mixed-up wishes make a funny children's movie? He wasn't the only one who thought so. After tweaking the mixed-up wishes concept a bit, and after several rewrites, Pryce eventually sold it to Sony Pictures, which has plans to turn it into a film in late 2009, he said. more...
  7. Ken would post a help request about getting the sticky stuff off his keyboard again.
  8. With big game, Walker lets his play do the talking By Edward Lee This season, Frank Walker had garnered more attention for his mouth - talking and otherwise - than his skills as a cornerback. Walker got a chance to demonstrate why the Ravens coveted him in the offseason as he led the defense with six solo tackles, forced a fumble and broke up two passes in the Ravens' 27-7 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at M&T Bank Stadium yesterday. "Whenever [defensive coordinator Rex Ryan] calls on me, I try to be ready," said Walker, who signed two-year, $3.5 million deal in March. "They prepared me good all week. Basically, it was just like practice." Article
  9. Once again you open your mouth removing all doubt... CMac has returned punts for us. Two witnesses said he did, one being the victim himself. And that sir can get you convicted in a court of law. Yea thanks to about 10 drops by Jags WR's. That ain't gonna happen in weeks to come. Like Harbaugh said, it wasn't all on Chris. Be that as it may I'd like to see how you play with a torn PCL, something that should have been dealt with earlier but given that prior to that game he was playing lights out and leading the team in pics...who knew. Hell Washington is out with a sore toe and who was is there last week when the Cowboys drove the length of the field twice on us in the forth quarter almost entirely via the pass? For you to even talk about the two players is the same paragraph shows what a complete tool you are at times. On the one hand you got a mediocre journeyman who can't stick with any team versus a multiple pro bowl, albeit moody, shutdown corner who when healthy is probably in the top 5 in the AFC even at his age.
  10. Any one know for sure? Is the "exclusive" tag a one and done deal?
  11. That's a weird photo to be sure. Damn, looks like it could be an out-take from the Godfather.
  12. Huge difference: 1. CMac can actually play corner 2. CMac is an AllPro 3. CMac never thought ST's was beneath him 4. CMac never spit in the mouth of another player 5. CMac played with with a torn PCL and still led the team in pics until finally forced to go under the knife. 5. The only valid knock against Chris is that he is too outspoken and uppity for insecure white boys suffering from SPS. ;)
  13. Walker's a no class thug and a lucky one at that. He's going to cost us big time sooner or later. I'd have called him for interference more than once between this week and last. And then there's his special team play, or lack thereof, for which he was benched already this year. Today we were lucky he didn't get flagged for taunting a couple of times. Got spit anyone?
  14. Don't think that's possible under the current CBA. I'm pretty sure, it's for one year only. The Pats couldn't franchise Samuel a second time and lost him to the Eagles as a result.
  15. Notable inactives for today: Barnes Washington Figurs Rice That means wanker, I mean Walker starts at corner.
  16. Nice video analysis of the back to back TD runs against the Cowboys. Two runs, 159 yards and 14 points.
  17. I could have sworn the early reports said McClain was one that came in overweight and out of shape. But that he dropped the weight faster than Harbaugh thought possible. McGahee came in here and ended up still needing some knee surgery if memory serves me correctly. Considering the work he's put in to coming back from his injuries over the years, only a jerk would question his drive and motivation. If anything he runs a little too hard and takes too many hits. He ought to take a lesson from LT's style, not Earl Campbell. Without question McGahee is the most talented back on the roster. Lastly, McClain's tendency to put the ball on the ground without even being hit very hard...doesn't impress me at all. Thank goodness for Mason or you would all be singing a different tune about McLain today than you are.
  18. Joe's naked bootleg around left end for a first down was a thing of beauty.
  19. Clearly Flacco was off and as I said another post, he's been off IMO for the last two games. Speaking of conservative play calling however, I also wonder about how we defended against the 92 yard drive. I've yet to watch the game again since Sunday but I intend to do so and see if my perception that we only rushed 3 an awful lot during their final drive has any basis in reality.
  20. I know everyone is in love with what he's done this season but... Did we just see history repeat itself and is this a typical Cameron strategy when playing good defenses? I gotta' tell ya' I don't like what I've seen offensively in our games against the good teams this year. Not to mention last weeks Redskins game. Here's the question; Who was the O Coordinator for the Chargers the year they played ultra conservative against us and allowed McNair to take us down the field for the game winner in the last minute? I know Charger's fans kept blaming it on "Marty Ball" but who was calling the plays? Wasn't it Cameron?
  21. I'm sorry, how many games did Palmer start in his rookie season?
  22. Any team that gets the field position the Ravens were given today, including the opponents 16 yard line, and gets a total of 9 points doesn't deserve to win pure and simple.
  23. Flacco had a bad day. Actually that's two weeks in a row he hasn't looked very good. From a coaching standpoint we looked as if we were playing not to lose, at least on offense, to the point where I was having flashbacks to the Billick run offenses.
