  1. It's unfathomable. Other teams use checkdowns too but gain good yardage with them. i think the problem is more with us not having any quickness in our checkdown receivers. One other thing pisses me off is how many times do we have to see a receiver catch the ball in front of the first down marker????
  2. They need playmakers badly. The team currently has only 2 receivers under contract and one is a bust. They need a backup qb because Joe isn't as durable as he was and we should be grooming of the future there. They need a center and a better RT. I don't think they can address all these problems successfully in one off-season. If they do, I'll call Ozzie a genius again. So, no. The status quo will not be effective.
  3. I see 8 or 9 losses if nothing changes from last year and that may be optimistic. The article on durability was a good one and spot on. We have to stop signing re-treads.
  4. I'm actually starting to become interested in us drafting Brown for RT. But they might even trade down a few spots since the talent drop off in the middle to late first round could be substantial.
  5. ...and with all the injuries they've had the last few years, I would bet that the extra week of camp will be easy on the vets too.
  6. I heard that there won't be many, if any, vets playing in that game.
  7. Good article by Mikey that I found myself agreeing with all the way. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bs-sp-priorities-20180212-story.html#nws=true Now the big question is 'How?'
  8. Let him earn a spot but I don't think he can do it.
  9. Eisenberg's article is mostly spot on. There will be good receiver value in the second round if they don't get Ridley in the first. I really wouldn't mind them taking an offensive tackle first. But they should take the best offensive player available rather any defensive player.
  10. The article seems pretty accurate to me too. They've talked about using Skura at center and he may be as good (mediocre?) as Jensen.
  11. Yeah the same thoughts cross my mind. The Ray Rice debacle started a long decline and we have not signed any 'attitude' guys since the last Super Bowl. In fact the emphasis has been the opposite regardless of talent. I have gotten the impression that Harbaugh hates to deal with any challenges to his authority and way of thinking. Hence, stagnation. Seems to me that the F.O. has given Harbs way too much say on roster construction. We did better before he won a Super Bowl on how the roster was made up and that was Ozzie's show. Harbaugh seems to have been a failure in developing new talent and hiring good coaching personnel. I really do think B. should have cut him loose after last season. I think he will after next season. Like Billick before him I think it's just time to cut him loose. His message is stale.
  12. I’ve never seen any player with faster sideline to sideline speed and then hit with force than him. Ray was fearless and fear inducing. Remember the play when the Chargers were driving towards a winning td and he hit Tomlinson in the backfield in an explosion of speed and power? He stopped him cold and the Chargers wilted. And yep I remember the Eddie George play.
  13. So the bottom line is no young qb to be drafted this year? This year’s class is supposed to have good potential for qb even in the second and third round.
  14. That produced some hope in me. Scouting has obviously sucked and needs a major overhaul. That's one of the GM's jobs and we'll find out how good Da Costa really is by how good the new infusion of offensive talent is. Unfortunately we are cap strung so that will play a part too. Max, Ozzie did build a great franchise here for quite a while. Until the last 2-3 years I was behind him. But the excitement level of the team and their swagger just vanished. Harbs had a lot to do with that. But Harbs worked for Ozzie and I think Oz could have done more to get a new coach and staff. While it would have been even more pleasing for him to announce getting a new coach and coaching staff at least I definitely got the feeling that this coming year is make or break for Harbs and friends. FWIW I'll give Da Costa a chance for one year. If it's more of the same I think then there will be a total organizational replacement. Or the fans will really revolt. Crappy GM's are a dime a dozen. There aren't many good ones under contract now let alone those looking for employment. That's why I say give Da Costa a chance to see if he runs a better show.
  15. I like the questions posted on the board better. They're more directly to the point.
  16. Good stuff. Hopefully the media will pose these questions instead of having a love-fest.
  17. As the Ravens brass keeps telling us, we need playmakers. Now why they can't draft any is amazing.
  18. Far fetched I think, but I had a friend speculate the 'crew' won't be there because they are being re-organized, or (dare I say it?) fired.
  19. I agree. He's shielding his staff from criticism and tough questions that make them squirm. Nice that he's stepping up to show ultimate responsibility but there will be questions that will be out of his area of expertise. And he must know that.
  20. Well, not nearly all kids/parents are like that. Mine were always well behaved in public. The thing is you tend not to notice the good ones just the loud ones. And the same is true for adults.
  21. On the other hand... http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-ravens-marlon-humphrey-arrested-0125-story.html
  22. Good article by Preston. I agree with everything he says. If there's no SOTR press conference this critical year, it's going to be the beginning of the end of fans wanting to go to the games.
  23. Weird. If that really is the only charge it's laughable and the League ought not to do anything suspension wise.
  24. If they had the knowledge to build the staff once I wonder why they didn't keep it up. So maybe they either ran things differently before or were just plain lucky to have such staff talent. But it sure does look like they're hurting a lot lately. Maybe Oz has his lost his pizazz and should retire. And maybe Da Costa isn't as good as we're told he is.
