  1. I don't think we should go anywhere but with an OT in the first round and at this point in this mock Guyton is still available. And i think I like USC's Rice in a later round for WR.
  2. Yep, we need a wr who's capable of going up for the ball and fighting for it. And I agree...wait until later to draft a RB. I don't have access to pff...was one of the 3 tackles an OT/G type?
  3. Good stuff in that post! I'd be a happy camper if we can get Guyton at 30 and he turns out as good as they say he can. Wide receiver speculations were intriguing though I don't want anybody who had a 12.5% drop rate in college. It's going to be a tough choice should it come down to taking either Guyton or McAllister.
  4. If they pick up his option before the draft I think they won't take a receiver on day one or two. If not, I think they'll press ahead and pick one even if there is a few days before his option expires.
  5. Well, at the very least I hope Zay learned a big lesson here.
  6. LA Chargers are becoming the Ravens West Coast Branch. Will be interesting to see Gus and JK back in a Roman offense.
  7. Looks like JK Dobbins is off to join Gus Edwards and Greg Roman with the Chargers.
  8. Good stuff, Papa...thanks for posting. Sounds like a lot of OT talent in this draft even where we are drafting. I like McConkey, but not as our first pick. Right about not needing DL help now that Justin is with us for the long haul. Right now we're 3 offensive lineman short from last year. We should probably be drafting help there with our first and third (second?) picks.
  9. Papa, who do you have in mind?
  10. I wouldn't advocate trading up unless it was to jump just a few spots for a guy who can start right away. But I think there will be opportunities at 30 and even up to high round 2 to get an OT. I wouldn't move up unless it was for that stud offensive lineman we need so bad. After round 1, things really become a crap shoot whether you're looking for RB, WR or another lineman. But that's the hand we have.
  11. That makes sense. Do you have any opinion on Renfrow?
  12. The draft is just 2 weeks away and I was wondering what you all thought about whether the Ravens should try and trade up, trade down, or just stay where they are. Should they go up to get a higher probability of success player or down into the second round to get more picks? Or is the best course to just take from what's available at spot number 30. They've got 2 fourth round picks, and they could possibly combine one of them with their first to move up. If they trade down, they can get more picks, but they give up the possibility of having a 1st round pick for 5 years. If they stay where they are, should they take BPA or hope they fill one of their needs with whoever is there? There's a lot riding on this draft. The team has been hamstrung by their cap status in free agency and badly needs an infusion of young talent. Oh, and finally, should they be attempting to sign Hunter Renfrow to a cap friendly contract or is the draft a better option for another wide receiver?
  13. There seems to be a lot of offensive tackles of quality in this draft. One of the very good ones should fall to us at 30. That's what I hope happens. Because of all the free agent losses, I agree with the analyst who said that DeCosta might have to stray a bit from his best player available draft strategy and go with the BPA for a position of need this year.
  14. Ravens sign van Noy to 2 year $10mil contract. Hope he gets near his 9 sacks again.
  15. I see things in a different light today...I don't think it's as bad a deal as I thought yesterday but I'm surprised they couldn't get more for him, like a 2 and a 4 without giving up any of their own picks. $31 million in dead cap ain't nothing to be sneezed at.
  16. I think they're in a self-destruct mode. That has to rate as one of the worst trades in NFL history.
  17. The Texans just might be the best team in the AFC this coming season.
  18. With all the round one talent supposedly available in round one we should at least be able to replace Moses without too much trouble. Meanwhile it's hard to say what Ronnie Stanley has left. He might make a career resurgence or have another disappointing year. Either way I'm glad they reworked and downsized his contract and loaded it with incentives.
  19. I don't feel as optimistic. Who's going to pick up the pass rush with Clowney gone? And how is the offensive line going to be better? When you lose 20 players there's a lot of holes to fill. And it looks like nearly all of the 'fill' will be coming via the draft.
  20. Steelers Writer Declares Ravens' Super Bowl Window Has Closed While some pundits have said they expect the Ravens to take a step back next season, the prevailing opinion is that they'll continue to be a championship contender. As noted in yesterday’s Late for Work, oddsmakers are projecting the Ravens, Chiefs, and 49ers to lead the league in wins next season. However, Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey contended that the Ravens' Super Bowl window has closed. (Bailey is also the deputy editor of "Behind the Steel Curtain," an SB Nation website that covers the Steelers.) Bailey cited the Ravens' losses in free agency from last season's top-ranked defense as the main reason for his opinion, specifically mentioning inside linebacker Patrick Queen (Steelers) and safety Geno Stone (Bengals) defecting to two of Baltimore's AFC North rivals. "The defense will still be good, in all likelihood, but expecting them to repeat what they did last year with the mastermind of it all departed, as well as two key defenders — that would be very naïve to say the least," Bailey wrote. "That was the best defense they are going to have for the foreseeable future, and they didn't capitalize on it." Bailey also noted that the AFC is loaded with talented teams. "I understand the fascination with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens, but look at how stacked the conference is in terms of teams and quarterback talent," Bailey wrote. "Teams like the Texans are getting better, and C.J. Stroud is a budding superstar. The Titans are going all in to build a really good roster. The Jaguars have a special quarterback in Trevor Lawrence. Justin Herbert now has Jim Harbaugh, and we'll see how that goes. The Dolphins will be in the mix. The Jets may be fun with a healthy Aaron Rodgers. "In the Ravens' own division, the Steelers are much better on paper, and Jackson is 1-3 against Pittsburgh in his career. The Browns were just a playoff team, and the Bengals will get Joe Burrow back and be right back in the thick of things. And, of course, there is Buffalo and Kansas City, who always seem to be playing deep into January. For how great the quarterbacks and teams are in this conference, some of them won't ever get over that hump. And for as talented as he may be, Jackson fell short in the best opportunity to get to the Super Bowl that he may ever have. And in a crowded AFC, there is no guarantee he'll get that chance again." ----From the Ravens' Website.
  21. Clowney's gone to Charlotte. 2yrs $24 million with incentives. Guess you can't blame a guy for wanting to go home.
  22. Sigh...I'd would love to get Mims or Guyton but I'm afraid they'll be gone by pick 30.
  23. A half-assed result. What's a fine and letter worth to the team that commits the foul: peanuts. Either keep the damned thing or ban it by penalty.
  24. I don't think Paul would be a reach unless there was a 5 star prospect at WR available.
