Name a QB other than the two I mentioned who you would rather have. Forget about Brady, Peyton and Brees...nobody would trade the number of years left with Joe for the number of years any of those three have left. Ben? You would need to do something with the giant fork sticking out of his body. Ryan? He's accomplished far less than Joe and actually makes more money. RG3? Maybe I can see that, but what a risk. I really like him (but I also really liked Vick). Kaep or RW? Sorry, they need to prove a whole lot more. Eli? The dude is clutch, but so is Joe (and Joe has the higher ceiling).

1. I don't believe you should ever evaluate QBs based solely off their stats, but using QBR is especially ridiculous. QBR is a flat out joke. 2. If I was GM of the Ravens, there are only two QBs I would trade Joe for right now. Those two are Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck.

Oher thinks he is better on the right side
Money replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I'll be the first to admit that Oher is better on the right side, but I think people are too harsh on him in general. At least he has always been dependable and he has always done what the Ravens have asked him to do. His entire career has been spent flip-flopping between LT and RT mostly because of Gaither's and McKinnie's unreliable ways. I will also say that Oher would have looked a lot better at LT last year had he been given the luxury of playing next to Osemele (which McKinnie was given) instead of whoever the stiff of the week happened to be. -
Ed Dickson’s hamstring leaves Ravens thin
Money replied to papasmurfbell's topic in Baltimore Ravens
It's not serious. -
From his Wiki page. This is not what I want as the highlight of a 5th rounder's career.
-
Dickson was actually the starter in 2011, not Pitta. Dickson had 54 recs, Pitta had 40 recs.
-
This is exactly it. Think about how excited a lot of people would be right now if the Ravens signed Todd Heap instead of Visanthe Shiancoe. There would be little mention of his 32 combined receptions his last two years.
-
I just don't know where this is coming from. He has caught 60% of his targets over his career. Pitta is at 66%. If Dickson "can't catch", then Pitta isn't much better. Take a look a Dickson's 2011 stats compared to Pitta's 2012 stats: Dickson 54 recs (89 targets), 528 yds, 5 TDs Pitta 61 recs (93 targets), 669 yds, 7 TDs Is it really that far fetched to think that Dickson can at least match Pitta's production from last year (if not exceed it)?

"Big Chief Pea for a Brain" Hilarious.

I don't know about this. Jones has proven a couple things over the course of his career: 1. He is absolute playmaker and difference-maker in the return game. 2. He has never been able to step up and be a consistent #2 (even with a fantastic #1 opposite him in Andre Johnson).
-
I agree. It's the same with Arthur Jones. It will probably be different with Torrey Smith next year. I'm guessing they won't want him on the market.

Brown will absolutely be a starter. With the DL eating up blockers this year, Brown's speed to the ball will enable him to put up monster numbers. He has to be the front runner for AFC rookie defensive player of the year. The other spot will come down to a D. Smith / Bynes competition. I like Smith's veteran leadership and if he is in good form, I think he wins the spot. I love have two outstanding backups in Bynes and McClellan. A lot of people are worried about this position with the Ravens, but I'm not one of them. I just don't see McClain ever playing again.

Yeah...you bring up this ridiculous conspiracy theory where Flacco's main agenda this year is to get Pitta a huge contract and secondary agenda is the success of the team and we are the ones who lose all logic, reasoning and sensibility???

Well...if you look at his draft profiles, his pass catching was considered his biggest strength (besides overall athleticism) and it was his blocking that was considered his biggest weakness. Here's one: Biography: Former defensive lineman who's been a three-year starter at tight end. All-Conference selection after his senior and junior seasons. Totals last year included 42/51/6 after 35/508/3 as a junior. Sophomore numbers included 43/453/3. Positives: Terrific pass-catching tight end who displays the ability to get downfield and make the reception. Runs well for a tight end, consistently gets into the secondary and natural catching the ball. Easily adjust to the errant throw, plays with good balance and makes the reception away from his frame. Gets up between defenders, displays good eye/hand coordination and uses his size as an advantage. Runs solid routes, displaying above-average quickness into breaks and then staying low on exit. Blocks with solid fundamentals and works hard until the whistle blows. Negatives: Marginally strong at the point of attack and struggles handling opposing linebackers. Must improve his blocking balance. Analysis: Dickson has been a consistent player the past three seasons and the tight end who offers a nice degree of upside potential. He would be best in an offense that puts him in motion and makes pass catching his number one priority. I'm telling you guys...Dickson is going to have a great year. He's always had the talent, but now I feel like he has the maturity (not that he's ever been a trouble-maker). I was listening to Glenn Younes (105.7) and he was talking about how Dickson just had his 2nd child. He's playing for a contract that could have his family and their families set up for life. I think he knows what an opportunity this is and my bet is he takes full advantage. Here's a couple of his quotes: “My expectations before the season, coming into the season, were to contribute and help this team get back to where we were last year, and that’s winning the Super Bowl,” Dickson said. “I wanted my production to go up, and how do you get your production to go up? You have to prove out here in practice each and every day that you’re the guy, and you can get the job done.” One area where Dickson is trying to grow is in developing chemistry with quarterback Joe Flacco. Pitta and Flacco were good friends off the field, and that connection translated to the football field. “The bond that they had was on and off the field,” Dickson said. “They eat breakfast and everything together. So, I’m not going to stalk Joe and follow him around, but I’m going to be right there in his pocket.” http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Ed-Dickson-I-Have-To-Step-Up/4ea7cd6b-1c8d-4a4d-b59e-a0cc0763884c

I'm just glad Pollard provided us with a fun activity for the day. BTW: I'm glad the Ravens don't play the Titans this year. We don't need Rice or Pierce getting knocked silly.

There are definite reports that Boldin was involved. Here's one: One of the major milestones in the Ravens’ Super Bowl season was the Back-From-Bye Week Mutiny: After a definitive thumping by the Texans in Houston Coach Harbaugh ordered up a team practice in full pads. The players responded with (metaphorical) torches & pitchforks, led by veterans like SS Bernard Pollard and WR Anquan Boldin who considered this an unnecessary additional humiliation. http://russellstreetreport.com/and-i-was-q-or-pollard-when-provoked/

I think I got it: "In the judgement of the Club, your skill or performance has been unsatisfactory as compared with that of other players competing for positions on the Club's roster."
-
I think you are reading the last one. It's the third one that was checked off.
-
Wow. Can you provide the link for us?
-
I can't read the first word of the second sentence, but I think the rest reads: "with that of other players competing for positions on the Club's roster." Basically, it might as well of said...You're not good enough to make the team next year.
-
Pollard said he doesn't have a problem with his (ex)teammates and he also praised Ozzie. That doesn't leave too many others besides Harbaugh. If you click on the link, you can actually enlarge the twitter picture of the termination letter. He was released for the 3rd reason down, but I can't make out what it says. Can anyone else?

Tennessee Titans safety Bernard Pollard isn’t happy about his departure from the Baltimore Ravens. He refused to join his former team for a trip to meet President Barack Obama at the White House and made it clear there was people within the organization he didn’t want to deal with again. “At the end of the day, I know what happened, I know what took place,” Pollard said on 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore. “I’m sorry, I just don’t want to be in the room with certain people.” Pollard was released by the Ravens in March and didn’t spend much time on the market as he signed with the Titans soon after. But Pollard is keeping a reminder of his release close to further motivate him for this season. According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, Pollard has his termination letter from the Ravens taped up in his locker in Tennessee. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/30/pollard-keeps-ravens-termination-letter-in-locker/ He's now on his 4th team in 8 years. You would think he would be used to switching teams by now.
