Vick did not commit to knowing the playbook or to practicing and technique. He thought his natural abilities were enough. Jackson is the opposite.

I feel like the Ravens future is disintegrating before my very eyes
vmax replied to Tornado700's topic in Baltimore Ravens
I'm fine with us disagreeing. Everybody has valid opinions. If I want to put on my fault finding glasses then I could tear down all of these selections. I look at this draft as selecting very good raw material to develop into future stars and solid contributing starters. Brown is a great example. He's just as raw as his father was coming into the NFL and his father developed into a monster. So will Jr. Ozzie gave the coaches and trainers excellent raw material goods to work on and develop. There is nothing like one huge, nasty O line beating up and wearing down a defensive line. The Ravens took another step in that direction. It will be exciting to watch him grow into the player that his father was. Today is round 4. It will be like grocery shopping at Whole Foods without the Whole Foods prices. For the record, I'm loving this draft for what I can see this team becoming moving forward. By opening day, a lot of lockers will be cleared out of players who made this team average or below. -
I'm looking forward to the pre season games just because of Jackson. I love them anyway to follow the development of the roster but this adds a new dimension. 5-0!!!

I feel like the Ravens future is disintegrating before my very eyes

The value in this years draft is in the mid rounds. Not that many immediate starters so why waste 2nd round or early 3rd picks. This team need a lot of new blood and Ozzie's getting it through free agency and the draft. -

Well...we've been watching this team disintegrate for the past 2 years. It burned my eyes and hurt my brain. This is a great draft. -

Andrews....another playmaker with good hands...sorta Gronk Jr. Strengths Took on additional workload this year and produced at a high level Red-zone rainmaker with a touchdown in every five catches Crafty in adjusting routes Not overly sudden or quick, but finds ways to uncover Uses body to leverage positioning at the top of the route Can mismatch defensive backs with his frame Has shown ability to handle complex routes Plays with consistent pace through route breaks to optimize separation in tight spaces Has learned to catch defenders on his hip and keep them there through the catch A quarterback's friend with ability to drop and save the low throw as well as secure contested catches in traffic Has footwork and athleticism to make tacklers miss Averaged 15.8 yards per catch for his career

I will put up his strengths because I have this feeling that others willgo all out at pointing out his weaknesses. Strengths Massive frame combined with outstanding arm length make him a challenge to get around Able to seal down blocks with his huge frame alone Nasty finisher who is looking to intimidate and overwhelm the man across from him Linebackers looking to take on his second level blocks can be engulfed Hands are heavy in pass protection and in run game Kick-slides gain impressive ground in setting out to edge rushers Consistent with punch timing Can completely derail a pass rusher's game plan with early jabs into his frame Uses maximum arm extension most of the time Will not be bull rushed Good recovery blocker thanks to length and strength Doesn't always look pretty, but can ride rushers past the pocket Keeps his feet moving and alive in pass protection Comes from NFL bloodline

Zeus Jr! He sucked at the combine in measurables but he dominated on the field. ask Mayfield.

If Ozzie keeps trading back then he'll have 18 picks in the 7th round.

In Swain’s 42 years of coaching Florida high school football, Jackson was the best player he ever saw. “I used to call him my own, personal video game,” he said. “Because humans just don’t do that stuff.” “As soon as I saw his name move across the board, I was like, 'Man, what he did at Louisville, he's going to bring it here, and what I did at South Carolina, I'm going bring that here as well.' ” Hurst said.

Great first round. They got the best TE and best QB in the draft. And yea...it costs a little extra to get that. What have we been crying for the last few years? Playmakers! Got 2. At the moment they have receivers. But no sure handed break away TE. Problem solved. 1st day starter. They have a decent stable of RB's. Now Joe has options everywhere. No excuses. And Lamar is a strong message. He's also insurance if Joe's knees or back flair up. This season won't be over. If Joe stays healthy, then great. Lamar has a year to learn and grow. Lamar is not a run first guy. He's a pocket passer first and when nothing is there then he looks to keep the play alive and when opportunity presents itself...then he runs.......and he played in a complicated offense. He's got swag and will be exciting to watch and will be great in the locker room.

Here's some morning Purple Kool Aid: Lamar Jackson is the best Quarterback in this draft.
-
Wow...I went to bed after they picked Hurst and woke up to find this news. Accuracy issues, but there is no questioning that Jackson is a Play Maker....and he brings swag, They lit a fire under Joe's ass. Great first round.

Seriously....I'd have been happy with Moore at 16 even though the price is too high. They do need a pass catching TE with good hands and he fills that bill. Now the need O line help.

Hurst's athletic career was on a different path at first, as the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted him in the 17th round for the 2012 Major League Draft as a pitcher. He spent two years at rookie ball in the Gulf Coast League (hitting .245 at first base in 2014) before trying to get back to football. Hurst walked on for the Gamecocks in the summer of 2015, playing in 12 games as a receiver and tight end, starting once, and making eight catches for 106 yards. He became a star in 2016, starting all 13 games at tight end and setting school records at the position for receptions (48) and yards (616) by consistently nabbing everything thrown his way and outmuscling defenders downfield (he scored one touchdown as well). Hurst was the first sophomore in USC history to be a team captain, albeit as a 23 year-old. The following year, he earned first-team All-SEC recognition by catching 44 passes for 559 yards and two touchdowns. Hurst had Tommy John surgery as an eighth-grader. Analysis By Lance Zierlein NFL Analyst Draft Projection Round 1 NFL Comparison Dallas Clark Overview Hurst's initial opportunity at athletic stardom came up short in baseball, but he has his second shot and plays like every down could be his last. His fearless play demeanor combined with size, strength and athleticism make him a well-rounded prospect with the versatility to line up all over the field. He's sure-handed and could become a young quarterback's safety blanket if he improves elements of his route running. He should see early snaps and has the ability to become a good combination tight end. Strengths Good combination of size and quickness Moved all over field Rabid and rowdy in his play Quick release into routes Athletic with above-average play speed for the position Willing and capable pass catcher on all three levels Has the feet and acceleration to burst open from breaks Separates from garden-variety linebackers in coverage Instant opener when sinking into zone holes Hands are sticky and ball focus is elite Had one drop against 100 career catches Reliable inside the hash marks Makes subtle moves to shield catch-point from linebackers Secures through contact Runs with power and balance after the catch Will seek out collisions rather than running out of bounds Has frame and grit to improve as in-line blocker Capable move blocker able to adjust to targets Weaknesses Will be a 25-year-old rookie when next season starts Appears to be giving route clues to defenders at times Doesn't manipulate defender often enough from breaks and stems Out-breaking routes have been getting jumped for two consecutive seasons Had safeties run his routes on various occasions Will need work as in-line blocker Hands fly out wide into first contact Can improve his play strength at point of attack if he gets his hand placement right Ducks head into contact Won't always look to improve positioning with quality footwork after contact Sources Tell Us "He's a grown man out there. No, he is literally a grown man. I love watching him play but he's 24 now so I think he's maxed out. He is who he's going to be physically so now we have to see how much better he gets as a football player." -- NFC Player Personnel Executive

Just keep trading back...I'm depressed that they missed on Moore. It seems they guys I like somebody always gets before the Ravens.
-
Bengals got Price. The Ravens could have used him. He's good. Ravens are up!
-
Ravens can get Ridley or Moore...Bengals on the clock.
-
They are trying to get value....meaning the players they want are not worth the 16th pick....but 22nd....yea...they can pay that price.
