As for Stover, Newsome sounded like the Ravens were ready to part with the only kicker they've had in their 13 years. "He's probably looking and we're looking, too," Newsome said of Stover. "That's probably the best way to say it."

I thought I headr ray say, "let shut this bitch down" at the game. Then he went running off the field with the other Ravens.

Newsome optimistic about keeping Lewis, others

Take it for what it is! I like this. Don't really care what someone issaying in the press or what he press is telling you what someone said, if he wants that big deal, so long. Never read what the media is putting out at this time. I still say it is more then just the money. -
I was reading them earlier. All I can do is laugh. - $7 mil. of cap space At this time they can't not even re-sign one of their kickers! You think there are another RFA they might want to tender? Or maybe a FA they would like to keep? Then there is that draft. We better start buying a lot of baby powder.

I think they let him walk. Fans are worried about Suggs, Brown and a CB. Don't think it is just money for Ray. The new house for the boys, the first game and who comes out dancing getting the crowd pumped up?

-- Boldin Runs Reverse: Open to New Deal with Cardinals -- Thu Feb 19, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports WR Anquan Boldin ran a reverse Thursday. Boldin's agent Drew Rosenhaus told Cardinals GM Rod Graves that, while his client remains receptive to a trade, he is willing to sign a long-term deal with Arizona. Previously, Boldin had said he never would re-sign with the Cardinals, but now, after some time away from the team and the game, he has softened his stance. However, if a long-term deal cannot be worked out, Boldin still would like to be dealt. But for the time being, Boldin wanted to give the Cardinals additional options. Rosenhaus and Graves met Thursday in Indianapolis. They covered some ground. There still is plenty more to address.

Panthers Franchise Julius Peppers -- Thu Feb 19, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports moments after completing a deal for OT Jordan Gross, the Carolina Panthers designated DE Julius Peppers as their franchise player, a league source confirmed Thursday. Peppers' franchise number is $16.683 million, but it is hardly the money that Peppers wants. He wants his freedom, the ability to leave Carolina and go play in a city that would be desirable to him. Now that the Gross issue is out of the way, the Panthers can focus on resolving the one involving Peppers. Carolina and Gross reached agreement Thursday on a record six-year contract worth just under $60 million that will pay out $30.5 million in the first three years of the deal, a league source said. The $30.5 million over the deal's first three years is highest ever for an offensive lineman. -- Panthers Officially Re-Sign Jordan Gross -- Thu Feb 19, 2009 --from FFMastermind.com The Rock Hill Herald reports the Carolina Panthers have officially signed OLT Jordan Gross to a new six-year contract. “We're done,” he said with a sigh. “I signed it about 10 minutes ago, and I'm glad to be through with it.” Gross admitted the negotiation was much tougher this year, after he turned in an All-Pro season at left tackle. That ratcheted up the market from what would have been a $7 million per year deal a year ago to the $9 million per year range this year. He'll make $30.5 million in the first three years of the deal, which sets a new benchmark for linemen in the league. When the final numbers are tallied, he's also expected to be the highest-paid Panther ever. “It was tough, because they had a number they wanted to stay within,” Gross said. “But if I go into the (free agent) market, the sky would have been the limit. I took a cut to stay here, but it was important for me to be in a place I wanted to be, and to make sure we were able to have a competitive team.” By doing so, the Panthers are now clear to place the franchise tag on DE Julius Peppers. Tagging Peppers means offering a one-year, $16.683 million contract, and he's already said he'd ask for a trade immediately. His camp put out word Wednesday that there's a list of four teams to which he'd accept a trade, two in the division, Dallas and one AFC team. The Panthers won't deal him to another NFC South team, and Dallas lacks a first-round pick, which would be the foundation for any trade. The bar for such deals was set last year when Kansas City shipped franchised DE Jared Allen to Minnesota for a first-rounder and two thirds. Now the Panthers have to sit and wait for an appropriate trade, while absorbing a hit on their salary cap which will prevent much activity on the free agent market until Peppers is moved. It will also necessitate some degree of restructuring and cuts for current players. Peppers couldn't be dealt until Feb. 27, the day free agency begins.

I think passed on a few guys at center due to the love of Flynn by Billick. It would be nice to sign Brown but i can see where the team thinks that Suggs means more. Over-all I think the FO is looking at Suggs as the leader of this team for year to come.

I still don't think signing Brown is that big of a deal, nice yes. I was reading the other day the Steallers have Five OLmen that are free, one I think is a RFA. Found it: OT Max Starks, OT Marvel Smith, OT Trai Essex and OG Chris Kemoeatu are unrestricted while OT Willie Colon is restricted.
-
Yes, we were talking about this before. Bodden would be a good way to go, so would Green. I think we still have to look at our own WRs. What about Miles Austin from the Boys? 6-3. close to 220.
-
Brown just took over at center last season. Yes it would be nice for him to stick around. The rest of the line is young, Joe was a rookie last year, these guys haven't even started to grow yet. A new center is not going to hurt.
-
This was going to happen. $20 mil. in 2 seasons, not bad for him. Scott was a goner, there are other players on this team that make much less that can do what he can do. I think it is Ray that gets away and not Brown. Just can not see them paying to much for Ray or for a center.
-
I won't change it, no reason to. You are talking about the best players to step on the field.
-
I don't think that would happen. The Boys can't throw that much money at Ray. I think they are trying to work out a deal and Ray will either take it or not. See if he will play with another team for less money. Even if the Boys cut TO which would cost them more then it would save, and I think that is who you have to point at for what goes on inside the Boys.
-
Didn't Drew re-sign Ray himself like 2 months ago? Beside, that is what they threw at him before the season started.
-
I should stay!

I really thought they were going to do last Monday! So where does he go from here?

I really can not see them doing away with both. Like TC said, lot of young guys on the market. Who knows, maybe Chris will re-work his deal. Rolle re-worked his deal last year, more of a if I play I get paid deal. I like Walker and Washington but not as full-time starters. -

People are to hard on Heap. I know all football player should block but it isn't one of his things, he catches passes, we seen that over the years. No one had bad things to say about him when he was making the catches. Heap played hurt almost all season long. They held him back in max most of the time blocking for a rookie QB who liked going deep. How many of our other TEs were hurt? We were at a point were Chester was going to play TE, we even had a LB playing TE. The young QB will get better, the blocking will get better and the other TEs will get healthy and Heap will be out catching passes again. -
He is a big boy, 250 lbs. I only watched him play once this past season. I watch some video. He seem to be cool most of the time, used his feet good. As much as I would like Boller back as a back-up, Rex could get him to come play for a few games.

I don't know. The Jets were $7 mil. in the hole before, Brett was was due $13 mil. but they have to find a QB to start now, and then there are their tenders. I don't know if they will have enough to sign a big name after all is done.
