  1. David Reed, WR, Utah Great pick... this guy has an amazing ability to adjust to the ball in the air, and consistently comes up with catches over the defensive back's heads. This is the kind of deep-threat you can throw the ball up for, and know that he'll come down with it (despite being "only" 6'0 tall) The guy also has dynamic after-the-catch moves, and can contribute as a returner if necessary. Just because other guys had 'larger frames' doesn't mean they'll come down with the ball any better than Reed... this guy is the total package. Here's Reed destroying first-round-cornerback Kareem Jackson in the Sugar Bowl:
  2. I took off Friday and Saturday so I could devote myself to watching the draft, so here are my impressions: When round 1 was winding down, I felt like the draft shouldn't be ending yet. Even if we had made a pick in the first round, I'd liked to have come out of the first day knowing at least two players. Everyone at the draft party I was at seemed to agree on this. Since everyone already knew the top 5 picks, the rest of the round seemed to fly by. Day 2 was definitely worth looking forward two, with two full rounds, but waiting an entire day to get to the second round was weird. If they're going to have it be a 3-day-event, I'd rather see Friday night, Saturday morning, and Sunday morning. Either keep it as a weekend-event (two days) or stretch it to three with a Friday prime time round, but the Thurs/Fri/Sat schedule isn't right. Starting day 3 early Saturday brought back memories of the good-ol'-days, when breakfast and drafting went hand-in-hand. Overall, it was an epic draft, but the flow was weird. Glad we took mostly players I knew, though... drafting 'tough guys' who I've never heard of isn't very satisfying.
  3. "The biggest thing that we did is we got three players that we wouldn't want to play against," said Eric DeCosta, the Ravens' director of player personnel.
  4. Now that I think about it... can any of our corners cover Chad "Johnson"?
  5. And, most importantly... we got both of these guys for 2nd-round prices, and we don't have to pay a 1st rounder. This will go a long way toward signing Ngata to a long-term deal, especially since we already paid Suggs last year and gave Boldin an extension.
  6. All things considered, we're having one heck of a draft.
  7. ...yeahhh.... We should definitely be shopping our 4th for a veteran CB if there's one on the block...
  8. I think Chris "f'ing" Berman just learned the word 'trite', except he didn't learn what it means.
  9. "In a high school game, Cody tackled Noel Devine. Devine vomited on the sideline." That's awesome. But how did he ever catch Devine?
  10. Sorry to see Tate go, but we already got two of my dream pickups and still have one pick to go. Lots of great guys still on the board. Everson Griffin, Jordan Shipley, Riley Cooper, Donovan Warren, LaFell, Damian Williams... TE's like Dickson and Hernandez... Other guys like Charles Brown, Bruce Campbell, Brandon Spikes, Ducasse...
  11. We don't need to... we just drafted a nose tackle and a rush linebacker. Gooden/Ellerbe in the middle next to Ray, Kindle/Barnes and Suggs on the outside, Redding/Pryce and Ngata at DE, and Gregg/Cody in the middle. Now we just need corners.
  12. People who hate the Ravens are texting me to say how great of a round we're having. That's a good sign.
  13. The one that New England took in the first round?
  14. Tate, Cody, Griffin. PS: Chris Berman is a f'ing moron, and should be taken off the air. Stop pretending to guess the picks after you find out who was selected and ruining the 'aha!' moment at the podium. You f'ing idiot.
  15. Wow, two Ravens Super Bowl winners announcing picks... we must be special.
  16. It's really unfortunate that 'being a Raven' has taken on a second definition that involves 'having injured knees'.
  17. Gresham sat out all year, Gronkowski has a bent spine, Cody is too fat and lazy, Kindle has a bad knee, Demaryius can't run routes and broke his foot, Bryant has 'emotional baggage'... No matter who we took, it was going to be 'risky'. The fact of the matter is, Kindle is a high-first-round talent, and Dan Cody/Paul Kruger were not.
  18. At this rate, we're going to get another top 40 guy at #25 of the second round.
  19. Gronkowski had his share of medical concerns as well, and I wonder what happens if he doesn't go one pick before us.
  20. Whoa, we got that pick in quick... Which meant it had to be Kindle. Whoa, nelly.
  21. Saw that pick coming as soon as New England traded up. Now things get exciting.
  22. If Jimmy Clausen is such a turd, then Golden Tate's stock must be rising, right? And did Paul Kruger just get drafted by Miami under a pseudonym? Edit: Please, Lord, let me have heard of whoever we take at #43...
  23. My list: Tate, Benn, Cody, Gronkowski, Kindle, Dunlap, Griffin, Mays
