  1. Levi Duharme... that's a football name if I ever heard one.
  2. Gaither for McKelvin would get me fired up, but I doubt they're looking to unload the guy. That's the guy I wanted a few years ago when we grabbed Joe.
  3. Well, maybe this guy will develop after all. 6'1, 192...and production at the college level... who knows.
  4. It may be spam, but at least it's comprehensive spam. Which I guess only reinforces the definition as Spam - the 'meat' that has almost everything in it.
  5. I think they found the next Jonathan Ogden.
  6. Kindle went almost unblocked, thanks to a terrible effort from the right tackle... but I was mostly referring to the actual bonecrushing hit. There's been a lot of debate over whether or not Kindle's hit was illegal... he led with his head, but he did make contact with the ball first. (NBA rules?) And on a guy like Roethlisberger, that hit would be in his chest anyways. And I'd take the penalty if it means lighting that piece of sh*t up.
  7. Trying to pass the time til training camp. Just in case anyone hasn't seen it yet... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BhL5TP86_Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMVnDFZrTpQ Bart Scott who? If #49 can get a shot like this on Big Ben when he comes to Baltimore next year, he'll be a national hero.
  8. Oher may be our best RT, but it's not proven that Gaither is our best LT. And if we did trade Gaither, surely it would be a sign-and-trade scenario of some type, so that's neither here nor there.
  9. Yeah, maybe. Or maybe we would've traded him in a second, because there were tackles available in the second round with first-round grades, for a fraction of Gaither's pricetag. Who knows. You could say the same thing about JaMarcus Russell. But regardless of what may-or-may-not happen in 3-5 years (when I can almost guarantee you Gaither is with another team), Champ Bailey would bring a ton of leadership and proven Pro-Bowl-talent to our weakest position for the next 2-3 years minimum. (which is the championship window for aging veterans) I'm sure you'd admit that, with Bailey in the fold, you would feel comfortable booking us for the AFC Championship game. And a 'stop gap' player at RT is 1) A lot easier to find, and 2) A lot less destructive than a stop-gap at corner. (Bad corner plays loses games single-handedly. Right tackles rarely have this type of control over a game's outcome.)
  10. Let's not get carried away, now... Gaither isn't that good. Why do you think we didn't hear about anyone offering so much as a 2nd-round-pick for him? Surely a young, pro-bowl left tackle is worth at least that...
  11. Yes they can, if you're including Webb and Washington in there.
  12. I'd still take Bailey for Gaither, straight up, without hesitation. He's still got a few years left in him, which is all Reed, Lewis, Mason and Boldin have left anyways.
  13. Without Roethlisberger they're actually below average. With him, they're average or above-average.
  14. That's true... if NFL jerseys were stocks, Roethlisberger's would be selling for pennies a share right now... Steelers fans are down to Ward and Polamalu jerseys now, while we have 8 or 9 that are still selling high.
  15. I heard we're thinking of utilizing Mark Clayton at corner. He has a knack for knocking away catchable balls, and is good for 1 or 2 big plays per season.
  16. There's a word for that... profiling. There are a lot of reasons why people MIGHT abuse women. Maybe a player didn't get enough hugs as a child. Maybe they were raised in a foster home. Maybe their first girlfriend broke their heart. Maybe they went to Miami University in Ohio. Maybe they listened to a lot of rap in high school. But in no way should any of this influence a guy getting a job unless there is direct evidence that it has actually affected his personality. None of the "character concerns" that I heard associated with Bryant had anything to do with his outlook on women.
  17. I think we should forget about Asomugha and make the trade for JaMarcus. The guy was a #1 pick! And don't even get me started on his arm-strength...
  18. There's a big difference between asking about drug use (which is directly tied to the individual's decision-making) and asking about a parent's drug use (or prostitution, in this case). There's a reason that talking about someone's mother is right up there with spitting in someone's face on the "things that will almost definitely lead to an ass-kicking" list. Should Ireland have spit in Bryant's face, just to see if he would keep his cool during an on-field situation? I'm sure there are plenty of questions that will give you that same information that don't come off as offensive to the player's mother. And whether or not he knew of his mother's prostitution, if that's even a legitimate question, is completely irrelevant. You can't expect a guy to sit there and talk about his mother's personal life. Even the courts offer protections from testifying in cases where family members are accused of crimes. Again, there are plenty of players with off-the-field issues, but it's inappropriate for anyone without a PhD in psychology to be trying to draw connections between their parent's life choices and their own.
  19. The most significant part of this is that it was the league championship game. This would be a crazy finish regardless, but you rarely see this stuff to decide the championship. (For a brief moment there, both teams were celebrating at the same time. Rarely do you see this level of sportsmanship where both the winning and losing team can celebrate together! )
  20. Even if someone had a prostitute for a mother, that doesn't mean they'll perform better or worse at a job that they already have an established track record at. Can Bryant catch touchdowns? Is he coachable? What was he like off-the-field? These are the questions you should be asking. Our first-round pick from last year had a drug-addict for a mother... and, while it has shaped his character, it does not define him.
  21. ...Yes? I consider those 3 to be our most likely playoff opponents. You could put Rivers in there too.
