  1. From football outsiders. The Bengals have the best offensive DVOA in the league in the first quarter, but rank just 16th in the league after that. Cincinnati has the worst pass defense in the league this year against slot receivers. In past years, that would not have been a problem because Baltimore threw to a slot receiver maybe once a game. But this year, Kelley Washington has 24 catches for 325 yards as Baltimore's slot receiver, so this could be a big problem for Cincinnati.
  2. A great article from football outsiders, and with a lot of love to Ravens and to Rice. For the season, DVOA ranks Baltimore third in the AFC, behind only New England and Indianapolis. Pittsburgh figures to improve now that Troy Polamalu has returned, but Baltimore still has a strong shot at a division title and a first-round bye. Isn't it about time Ray Rice started to get MVP consideration? His conventional statistics are impressive enough -- he's second in the league in yards from scrimmage per game -- but he looks even better in FO's advanced statistics, which more accurately measure his impact on wins and losses. He leads all running backs in rushing DVOA and is fourth among running backs in receiving DYAR (Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement, DVOA's cousin that measures the total value of all plays instead of the average value per play). He leads the team in both rushing and receptions. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insider/news/story?id=4618678
  3. We simply need to win the mental and the coaching battle. The running games is when you look at the stats similar, Ravens with the edge though better yds/rush both O and D, and more versatile. The passinggame, we should be the better team in every aspect, they have great recievers, still in all their other games they have been fare from impressive, their is a reason why they are ranked average at best. Their pass D is like always, a joke. I have a question. How was it possible for the bungles to have their best passing game both O and D against us? their previous opponents has not excactly been the best teams, except for the Steelers, even Tex and the Browns did better us. We had only 175 passing yds, their best performence all year. And their 261 passing yds was only second to their GB match.
  4. And hopefully fox has learned to focus on the ball first.
  5. So now it is 17-35 until we loose. Ravens win this one, and this game is not about carsten palmer. This is all about Ravens HC against the Bungles HC, here I admit we have lost bad since forever, we win when we obviously is the better team, and loose when it is close. In 2005 oh well, in 2006 first game we were the better team in the second game, BB pathetic, in 2007 the first game we was with no doubt the much better team in all faces, except for the mental aspect, but Billick how can your team make so many mistakes? The second game that season, seven fieldgoals..hmm. Last year well no challenge we had like 8-900 yds against 3-400 yds, two wins. Now this 14-17, lost TOP, penalties, playcall, poor finish, I give it to you Harbs with help from Cam and Mattison, and the zebras was a joke on that final drive they had, 3 suspect playcalls and the obvious not playcall on Twitter Johnson If this game is not going to be close, we win! Somehow though I hope this game is going to be so ugly, so close and we finally end up winning in the last seconds of the game, and that the zebras finally give us a lot in that game, and all Bengals fan will think oh they are so lucky those Ravens.
  6. Arrogant probably the wrong word, how about respect that they were a better team overall last year, with or without recievers. I try again, Ben (and Matt Ryan) was the better QB in 2008. Flacco with a standout WR would still face the NFLs best defense with a more limited playbook than even Matt Ryan, how could that ever be the difference? Oh yeah I would love to have this standout, but come on Marshall? And then you ask for 3 things: Get a troublesome personality like Marshall, give away draftpicks too, and then give him money too.. bye bye who Ngata? Reed? Gaither? Flacco? Rice? Suggs? You know very well none of this is common sense in the Owing Mills. We are likely going to get a reciever next year, let it be some one like Mason with his kind of personality. I even take Chad Johnson and TO if they were ten years younger over Marshall. VJ from Chargers?
  7. Sure we need that kind of reciever. Should we really trade a first roundpick, and he needs money too, then we probably have to loose Suggs or Ngata and then give him 50 mill for a criminel? Give away all that for one preferes to beat women, how about that Harbs, Oz and Bisciotti? People on this forum want these types. Thanks but no. And stop telling me that Marshall was the difference for us to not go to the SB. This is so arrogant. Come on Flacco in that game = Orton yesterday. Like yesterdays game Marshall was not the difference. Steelers was the better team, and no way it was only a question about a rookie QB or a standout WR. Our team was obviously more tired physical and mental, it was in their house, Steelers wanted that game much more than us. They beat us period, and we were pretty lucky that we were competive late in the game.

  14. Damned. I am glad I am not the Broncos, we are going to beat them badly. Finally we are the underdogs and they are not, that fact alone = Win! Seems to me that is going one way. We start strong and finish strong and in the rest of the time we just outplay them. And give me a lot of TOP and McGahee in the first Q, RFR (rayfuckingrice)in the second and third Q and McClain in the 4th Q. I believe our offense gained a lot with this 14 days pause, Cams O is for real, Gaither has to be back, and Cam and Hue will play Broncos, for what they are, a team with some old and great DBs and a team with a not very good front seven unit, average at best. We will dominate Los. As for our defense, it will be better. And again I have a hard time to see we will not dominate the LOS, oh I know they have talent but they have no idear what is coming, the hurting lion will eat them alive. We will force them to make Orton do some things he is not capable to do. And perhaps Fox and Fab will have a radar this time.. I have to believe it, or the season is over, this Chris Henry reception should have been intercepted (at least a PD) by Fox every time. And Landry and Carr I had actually some expectations for them this season, let me see that now. Well ST should create troubles and they have the edge, time for Harbs and Rosburgh to do some miracles, or at least minimize the damage.
  15. Just become insider again, not sure if there is another Flacco article except from this one.. Description by Matt Williamson of Joe, Ryan, Henne, Josh Johnson, Sanchez and Stafford. Joe.. I was fortunate enough to watch Flacco in high school and helped to recruit him to the University of Pittsburgh. Even then, he was an extremely grounded young man, and that trait clearly has carried over to the NFL. Physically, Flacco has it all. There are only two or three NFL quarterbacks in his class when discussing the package of size (6-foot-6), arm strength and athletic ability, which is a vastly underrated trait that Flacco has. Defenses must defend the entire field against Flacco. He can drill the deep out on the open side of the field, launch a 60-yard strike or fire a laser into very tight coverage because his arm is simply superb. As impressive as his physical traits are, his mental makeup is equally as strong. Flacco really is "Joe Cool." Nothing rattles him, and he processes information quickly. Remember, although he started off at Pitt, he also played at Delaware -- not exactly a football hotbed. His incredibly rapid ascension since entering the NFL has been nothing short of remarkable. He is knocking on the door to become a premier quarterback. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insider/news/story?id=4599773 And from Schefters mailbag; Q: How big a risk was taking Joe Flacco in the 2008 draft? What did the Ravens see in him that they didn't in, say, Brian Brohm, who had received so much more hype in college? -- Al (Eau Claire, Wis.) A: Al: The Ravens were very high on Flacco and Matt Ryan. In fact, they even tried to trade up to get Ryan. When they couldn't, they traded back to a spot where they were fully confident they would be able to get Flacco. To be honest, never even heard anything about the Ravens considering Brohm. Ryan and Flacco were their guys, and they were going to be thrilled with either one. Worked out, didn't it?
  16. How do you come to that statement? Seems to me it would be the case, with all those restrictions next year and fewer FAs, it would probably be less interesting. And what I believe is that GMs will handle it very carefully. Hopefully they will have a new deal next year. And thinking about it De wares new contract.. his agent have to think they will get a new deal sooner or later.
  17. To those who think Rex is the difference, his 2007 D had some very similar defense stats, probably worse. Maybe a better running D. Basically same rank in yds, penalties, QB rating, +20 rec, +40 rec. More or less.. worse in RZ defense, scores (rushing and passing), interceptions, FF, FR and sacks. 3 things give me still some hope for our defense; it is healthy, it is a new secondary.. Fox, carr, Webb.. and Fab and Landry had barely played together + young ILBers. They should improve with more games. And it was our bad october, when november and december comes, Ravens normally do a lot better.
  18. Good points Max. As for the stats I say you are using some pass defense stats. Overall Broncos is second combined with first in score, gives me the miracle of the year. Nolan picks up a front seven from no where, who based on salary cap (See Ravens front seven, ugly) and former performenses should be ranked 32. As for our defense we are ranked 16th. And I am beginning to think the main problem is not the secondary, but on all of them, starting with the DL.. What happend to Ngata and Suggs? I thougth they were supposed to take it to another level, dominate, not happening.
  19. Love it. Hate migthy mouse, reminds me of a former soccer player Kevin Keegan who played around 70-85 for Liverpool (Oh so very wrong team, just like Steelers awful and lucky.. they have not won a championship in 20 years and I love it) and he played later for Hamburg, where I believe he gained that nickname, the migthy mouse.. He gives me still bad vibes.
