cravnravn Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Ravens as a team were 3rd worst in the nfl on defense in allowing broken tackles. The two main culprits, Ed Greed & Ellerbee Houston & Miamis problem now http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2013/broken-tackles-2012-defense Quote
OutsideRzAcE Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Ellerbe? That is a little surprising. He didn't play often and when he did I don't remember him missing many tackles. Reed is not a big surprise. What's funny is that play where Moreno leapt over him probably didn't even count against him in this stat. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Yea, look at Ellerbees #'s from 2011 he only had 1 missed tackle Quote
thesteelhurtin Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Wow I wouldn't have figured that at all. The Steelers weren't far behind them but didn't have anyone on the list I wouldn't have figured that either since they were number 1 defense. Quote
vmax Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 This stat makes a lot of sense. Just look at how many offenses ran over the Ravens last year and the ton of yards the D gave up. They were on the field more than most teams as they could not get off on 3rd down. The age and injuries were exploited. Webb, a sure tackler and playmaker, was out of the line up. It all adds up to the stat that this post is about. It's huge that the Ravens D has become younger and faster. To tackle somebody you first have to have the speed to get to him. They couldn't last year. Getting an arm or a hand on a guy is not enough. Ellerbe played hurt. He was lights out in the Colts game and then he was a step late against the Broncos. For every highlight reel hit that Pollard made there are 10 plays where he couldn't catch up to anybody. That will all change this year. But for shits and giggles...it was a Super Bowl Championship Defense... Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I think the 2013 D when they get going good will be so much better than 2012. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 But no one is as tickled as me as Ed Greed is NOT OUR PROBLEM anymore.. God Bless Texas Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I really do not think he was coming back if Hou went big or not. Quote
cravnravn Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 I really do not think he was coming back if Hou went big or not. WRONG, Greed was looking for another pay day, he almost suckered us in Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 If he was willing to play for $2mil I don't think they would have brought him back. I think Ozzie was done with him. Quote

cravnravn Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 I'm not doubting his play, it was great. But he received his pay day already he was out for another one. Houston gave it to him Quote
