Ravens cornerback Asa Jackson is about to go away for two months.

But he gave the Ravens something to remember him by, and hopefully something that makes them want to keep him.

Jackson returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown, for the game-winning score for the Ravens against the Falcons. It was a nice reprieve for a guy who was suspended the first eight games of the regular season for a second violation of the league’s PED policy, making his future there tenuous.

“Absolutely,” Jackson said, via Matt Vensel of the Baltimore Sun. “It’s all part of football. It’s all part of life. You’re going to go through ups and downs, but it’s how you handle things when things are bad that really define your character, not when they’re good.

“I’m just going to keep trying to go out there and do what I can to help the team win games and show that I can still be a valuable asset to the team.”

Of course, proving that value’s trickier since he’s going to miss half the season. The Colts released tight end Weslye Saunders after his second positive test and half-season suspension, and Jackson’s job is by no means safe.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh reportedly chewed him out and threatened to Jackson after he jumped into a practice scrum last week, and the suspension is going to loom over him for some time.

One punt return in the preseason won’t make that go away, but anything he can do to convince them he’s trying to fix things will help.

Maybe this is why Asa has not been cut.

Here's how you handle it Asa: Don't do it again and hurt your team mates and the Ravens organization who have invested a lot of time and money in you and have got nothing in return. You got your money. It's time to earn it.

It could have been adiral or something. Some things that are "performance enhancing" really aren't.

Could be, Papa. Some players are on that drug for ADD and it does test positive and they get screwed if they didn't have a Doctor's permission form ahead of time. But there is also a body of opinion that claims those guys or some of them are using it as an excuse since the PED drug that the league finds is never revealed (and why the hell not I wonder?).

Is this something new? Fuck no it isnt, they no the rules, if not shame on them..They tell you what makes you test positive, if they are too f.n stupid to realize it, then shame on them..Enjoy CFL

My guess is at least a thrid of the league is using steriods. Very few are caught if any. The chemists aren't working on the less profitable grugs so those players who use those get flagged.

I think it's higher than a third. Much higher from the weights and muscle mass I see.

I agree, Crav.

Anybody know why the league won't release the name of the PED?

I have always thought they do that so people think it is roids but infact it is something like aderal or something that is in a supplement. Basically it allows the lack of the known to make people speculate and demonize the player.

I wasn't yelling at you I was po'ed at the situation he put the club in, 8 weeks is a hell of a penalty

Not really. Basically I look at it as sliding a guy 8 weeks into the season without burning a roster spot.
