ravinmaniac52 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 The team on Wednesday announced that veteran Brian Hoyer will start at quarterback Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, per Vic Carucci of the team's official website. "He was the clear leader from the beginning," coach Mike Pettine said in a press release. "We've maintained all along that if it was close, I would prefer to go with the more experienced player. Brian has done a great job in the meeting rooms and with his teammates on the practice field and in the locker room." The decision leaves first-round rookie Johnny Manziel staring up from the No. 2 spot on the depth chart after both passers struggled through Cleveland's first two preseason games. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000380972/article/browns-name-brian-hoyer-starting-quarterback?campaign=Facebook_atl_sessler NFLN must be devastated Quote
papasmurfbell Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 In the long run they are better off. They need at least 1 more legit weapon. Let Hoyer take the beating and get the early pick. Quote
vmax Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 the reality is that the Browns' first-team offense has been terrible. So terrible, in fact, that they haven't scored a touchdown all month. That includes preseason games and the team's intra-squad scrimmage. Quote
