OutsideRzAcE Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Looks like SF released him after they acquired Torrey Smith. This guy was a beast putting up 3 1000 yard seasons with a crappy Buffalo team before being traded to SF. I'm not sure why it didn't work out in SF, but this should be a guy we target. Fast guy who has a track record of producing. http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/11458/stevie-johnson Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 He was buried down the depth chart. He is the vet I would grab. I think he can put up real good numbers and can be had for almost nothing. Right player right price. Quote
thundercleetz Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 I think PFF had him graded high too. He would be my number choice as well. Quote
tsylvester Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Talk about a guy who played faster than he time- 4.59, quite the "stud" in Buffalo where there were limited targets and average at best quarterbacks.... In SF, he just didn't fit their system and once again, had a quarterback who was subpar, at least last year. It remains to be seen if Cap can take the next step in his career... Here is an article from 12/13- http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10124394/stevie-johnson-buffalo-bills-eager-prove-critics-wrong During a season in which his numbers are slipping and critics growing, Johnson is eager to prove his doubters wrong."There's a lot of people watching me, and I'm going through a year where maybe a lot was expected, and I expected a lot from myself," Johnson said Wednesday. "It's OK, because I'm climbing still. I'm still working trying to get to the top. I've got to make them love me again."That's going to take some doing for a sixth-year player who has had very little go right this season. Johnson's offseason got off to a terrible start when he was sidelined by a back injury. The regular season hasn't gone much better. Johnson has been sidetracked by an assortment of injuries, a lack of chemistry with rookie quarterback EJ Manuel and a series of miscues. From dropped passes to a costly fumble that contributed to a 34-31 overtime loss to Atlanta two weeks ago, Johnson has endured a big dip in production. That's led him to become the target of fan discontent during recent weeks, leaving open questions regarding Johnson's future in Buffalo beyond this season, and whether he's worth the five-year, $36.25 million contract extension he signed in 2012. No doubt he is a hustle guy, always working hard, the question has always been consistancy with his hands and in route running. He tends to drift, ala T Smith and round off his routes..... I am not sure he would do anything for this team beyond what they already have. Me, I would rather draft a rookie for a deep threat. Quote
OneManCypher Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Dwayne Bowe would be my choice. D-Bowe Quote
cravnravn Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Dwayne Bowe would be my choice. D-BoweMine too had had the bottom of the barrel qb's throwing to him his entire career. 1 Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 When did Alex Smiith become bottom of the barrel? Quote
cravnravn Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Bowe finished his Chiefs career with 532 receptions for 7,155 yards and 44 touchdowns. He accomplished this despite playing with a collection of quarterbacks who mostly consisted of journeymen and others who never established themselves in the NFL: Damon Huard, Brodie Croyle, Tyler Thigpen, Matt Cassel, Tyler Palko, Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn, Alex Smith and Chase Daniel. Definitely the bottom of the barrel Quote
papasmurfbell Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 They went from a complete joke of an offense to being efficient. Going from 2012 when Alex was still in SF to 2013 in KC the passing offense jumped about 4 ypg. Bowe was solid many yrs ago and for like a season. I think he has been living off that rep for many yrs now. Quote

Stevie is there but has been productive more recently and for a longer time. 2014 EJ Manuel (4) / Kyle Orton (12) 2013 EJ Manuel (10) / Thad Lewis (5) / Jeff Tuel (1) 2012 Ryan Fitzpatrick (16) 2011 Ryan Fitzpatrick (16) 2010 Ryan Fitzpatrick (13) / Trent Edwards (2) / Brian Brohm (1) 2009 Ryan Fitzpatrick (8) / Trent Edwards (7) / Brian Brohm (1) 2008 Trent Edwards (14) / J.P. Losman (2) And Stevie hasn't had a reall whose who of QB's either. Smith is better than all of these guys. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4184/dwayne-bowe According to ESPN's Adam Caplan, the Browns have "strong interest" in free agent WR Dwayne Bowe.If the Browns sign Bowe to "complement" Brian Hartline on the perimeter, their inability to score touchdowns would be downright terrifying for opposing field goal units. Browns placekicker Garrett Hartley could have a huge year. Robjr83 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 My guess is they draft a burner in the 1st round then use Camp/Brown in the slot. It's not ideal but what else is there? Quote
thundercleetz Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Bowe had the 15 TD season, he certainly has, or had, red-zone ability. However, his play declined when Andy Reid brought over his WCO that is different than Todd Haley's offense. Maybe Bowe wouldn't be a good fit given we also run a WCO... I wonder if the Vikings would move Cordarrelle Patterson after acquiring Mike Wallace? http://thevikingage.com/2015/03/13/vikings-rumors-cordarrelle-patterson-on-the-trade-block/ What do you guys think? Well, we know he plays well in the snow here in Baltimore................. I doubt they let him go, they two speed demons would be a nice fit for them, especially if Wallace keeps his act going of dropping easy passes, running improper routes, they will need Patterson. I doubt they let him go, they two speed demons would be a nice fit for them, especially if Wallace keeps his act going of dropping easy passes, running improper routes, they will need Patterson.Remember, the Vikings already have another young WR in Charles Johnson who displaced Patterson in the starting lineup. They also have to make a decision with Greg Jennings. I guess the decision to keep or trade Patterson depends on how much Teddy Bridgewater is lobbying management to draft his former UofL favorite target Parker. Quote
Robjr83 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 I cant believe the Pats lost out on somebody. I guess Brady will just have to be content with throwing to the best TE in football. Quote
