Moving forward

After yesterday's coulda - shoulda, it's clear we are going to grind EVERY GAME from here on. The difference between winning and losing will come down to whether we make the key stop or score to win. So far, we are 3-1; could easily be 1-3. Could be 4-0 too.

Moving forward, there are 3 things this team has to do to win.

1. The backend and pass rushing combo has to collaborate better . Doom and Sizzle need to get their sacks; CB Wright needs to be benched in favor of Tavon Young.

2. The offense line has got to improve and we need to keep pounding the rock with West, Allen and Dixon (healthy). Joe and the O can't succeed without an effective running game. Yesterday's game showed some promise even with our backup left side OL.

3. As everyone knows, the offensive playcalling and tempo has to change. We need to pick up the pace, go vertical more often, and run more diverse WR and TE sets. Too much predictability and ease for the defense. We have some weapons; just need to unleash them.

Try Jensen??? Did you not see him yesterday? Next week hopefully Stanley and Lewis will be back. They may need to put Williams/Gilmore in to block. There's no much they can do now that the season is underway. I honestly don't trust Oz making a trade since Monroe and Zuttah have flopped.

Can't go deep when Joe barely has time to throw an 8 yard out.

Jensen is terrible no matter where he plays, he must have black mail photos of the coaching staff or front office.

Pees needs to be consistent, all those 3 & outs were great, but something, scheme likely, changed later in the 4th when they moved the ball at will.

Now that they will be facing real offenses going forward, we shall see what the real defense looka like...

Zuttah was the worse hasn't had a good season, not that he was that good to start but good enough. this season has been trash. Who filled in for him last season? Maybe the guy isn't fully healthy?

Maybe it was just them? That is when they started blocking out the DBs there were a few times, and Smith does it all the time, not hitting that WR off the line guy runs inside wide open. Wright wasnt the only DB that stunk.

Yeah, I am just tossing some things out there. The backers also slacked off, that touchdown to Crabtree, they failed to get a deep drop, making that throw easy.

Something appeared to change though, aside from being tired, those wide outs were wide open.

On Zutta, I agree, he has missed blocks, been penalized, made the wrong line calls in every game this year. Throw in the mysterious absent from practice and not injured stuff, something is amiss with him. He does struggle with bull rushers, but yesterday he was struggling with guys he normally would dominate.

Time to sit him down for a game, they did it with Forsett, so why not him.

They are going nowhere without a running game.

They finally got it going in the 4th quarter...

If they continue to stick with the run the rest of the game, which had Oakland back peddling, they win.

Special Teams needs to get their heads screwed on right.

They MUST protect Joe. He will not last at this rate.

When pressured, Flacco completed 7 of 17 passes for 42 yards. That's a completion rate of 41 percent and an average of 2.4 yards per attempt.

When he was protected, he connected on 25 of 35 throws for 256 yards. This is a completion rate of 71 percent and an average of 7.3 yards per attempt....http://www.espn.com/blog/baltimore-ravens/post/_/id/30472/ravens-will-struggle-beating-anyone-if-joe-flacco-continues-to-take-a-beating

Those stats of his pressure passes completion % are skewed because he had to throw most of those away. I counted, ocf the top of my head, 9 throw aways, not counting the ones he might have thrown in the dirt to ensure no one could catch them.

But yes, first & for most is protection for him, one way, as pointed out in the broadcast, is to get the running game going...
