vmax Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Some of you may not want to hear this. Most of us find this hard to believe. And yet...The Ravens are very much in the Hunt to make the playoffs. Just about everywhere I read the "Experts" give the Ravens a decent shot at making it.They may be 1 and done if they get there, but this is about the final run. BALTIMORE RAVENSThe Ravens are hard team to define. A 6-5 record is almost the definition of average. But Baltimore has rarely looked average this year. The Ravens have either looked really strong, or they’ve looked like one of the NFL’s worst teams. The remaining schedule is not a cupcake, but it’s not terrible, either. It feels like Baltimore’s spot in the playoffs will hinge on Week 17’s game against the Bengals. Running through the playoffs is hard to see. But the Ravens are certainly a realistic contender to get to the postseason.Verdict: Playoff contenders..........https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/separating-pretenders-and-contenders-in-nfl-playoff-race/ss-BBFR155?li=BBnba9I#image=16 RAVENS' GRIP ON WILD-CARD SPOT TIGHTENSWith Monday night's win over Houston, Baltimore's chances of reaching the postseason in ESPN's FPI has now jumped 25 percentage points over the last two weeks, with a 72 percent chance to capture one of the two wild-card spots....http://www.espn.com/nfl/team/_/name/bal/baltimore-ravens Even Pete Prisco is on the Ravens bandwagon..... Detroit at Baltimore1 p.m. ET (Fox)The Ravens don't do a lot on offense, but that defense is playing outstanding football. That will make it tough for Matt Stafford in the Lions. At some point, though, Joe Flacco has to start driving the ball down the field. Is this the time? I think he does here. Ravens take it.Pick: Ravens 19, Lions 16..........https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/pete-priscos-nfl-week-13-picks-falcons-defense-will-be-difference-in-win-over-vikings/ The offense so hard to watch! The offense is one missed opportunity after another. And what hurts the most is that they have a defense and special teams that are capable of carrying an average offense all the way. That hurts the most. varaven45 Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Watching the Ravens offense or the paint dry ? It's a coin toss Quote
tsylvester Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 It is one thing to watch the team go 5 games without a touchdown, quite another to watch this offensive offense.... Quote
vmax Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 It is one thing to watch the team go 5 games without a touchdown, quite another to watch this offensive offense.... True, but doing the difficult builds character. Just look at how I start my day.... Quote
tsylvester Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Yeah but you allowed people to ride on your back, it took you 200 years to realize you had a horn and how to use it. Quote
vmax Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 Oh My! "It may not look pretty moving forward," Flacco said, "but we are going to do what we have to do to win football games and put ourselves in a good position at the end of the games to win them."Sound familiar? This is reminiscent of what Dilfer repeatedly said in 2000.Flacco has taken the passenger seat to a dominating defense, like Dilfer, while producing worse numbers than the Super Bowl-winning quarterback no team wanted as a starter the next season.Flacco averages 170.5 passing yards per game, which is far less than Dilfer's 180.5 yards per start in 2000. Flacco is averaging 5.34 yards per pass, which is much lower than Dilfer's 6.77-yard per pass.Flacco has thrown nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 11 games. Dilfer totaled 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in eight starts. What Flacco and Dilfer share is a job description that includes primarily handing off the ball in the fourth quarter and limiting mistakes.....http://www.espn.com/blog/baltimore-ravens/post/_/id/41100/joe-flacco-is-pulling-a-trent-dilfer-17-years-later-only-with-worse-numbers OUCH! This is not 2000.The O can't go to the D and ask "How many points do you need this week?" and get an answer like 10. Where's Matt Cavanaugh when you need him? Maybe he can get Joe's numbers up to Dilfer's level. Then it's "Super Bowl Baby!!!" Quote
JPPT1974 Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Yeah as really it is the defense that is in the leading to the Ravens doing well in these games. Quote
tsylvester Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Yep, we shall see, this week a good qb comes in with receivers who make contested catches, who are quick, smart, good.... Quote
vmax Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 the ravens are now a legitimate playoff contender.7-5. Huge win. Quote
oldno82 Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Actually, I'm speechless after today. I now have no idea what this team is going to do week by week. Really glad to see the offense turn up the gas for a change. Long, long overdue. And did somebody finally find a way to light a fire under Joe's ass? Quote
