vmax Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 In the first half against the Chiefs, when the Ravens were struggling to run the ball, it was Joe making the passing plays that kept things going. He used Heap and Rice to get the train rolling. It was on Joe if the O was going to have a productive day, because the Line was not holding up in pass protection or creating running lanes. This Saturday it will still be on Joe because it's very hard to run on the Steelers. So Cam will have to open his bag of tricks a little more. Look for the Ravens to use 3 TE's like the Pats did in putting up 39 on the Steeler D. Dickson, Heap and Pita are all cleared to play and the Ravens will unveil this Saturday. That's a coverage mismatch on the Pitt LB's. Go ahead and blitz. Rice, TJ, Mason and Bouldin will just create more matchup problems. So it's going to be a day to throw...west coast style, because the Steeler D will be swarming in on the shaky Ravens O line. Around 30-35 Pass attempts should do It. "Better get rid of it.... Lines laying down to take a nap." Quote

papasmurfbell Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 The one big difference is the Squeelers are much better at a passrush throughout their personnel. The OL better hold up better or they are screwed. Quote
millz58 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I worry a bit also, Flacco seems to need a fraction of a second or so longer than other seasoned, accomplished QBs; but that's now up to design I think and if we do have 3 TEs going Saturday there should be enough available to take the bulk of the guesswork out of it for Joe. In any event I hope he plans on using his legs a little bit this time as well, that could be a difference too if the Pittsburgh pass rush becomes too aggressive. Rice or Pitta or another may spend more time pass-blocking than running routes. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Hell Joe has only been in the league for 3 seasons. Brees didn't break until yr 4. Quote
RavenMad Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Hell Joe has only been in the league for 3 seasons. Brees didn't break until yr 4. The Chargers even "drafted" Rivers in the 1st because they didn't think Brees was going to make it. Flacco is ahead of the curve at this point in his career. But it is time for him to take the next step. Quote
