Ravens signed two meh receivers, Miller and Gage, is this just camp bodies due to the small number or is Bateman hurt worse?

Perhaps they are just bodies for the preseason games while Bateman heals and in case someone gets hurt...

Sunday-

Throughout camp, tight end Isaiah Likely has been a frequent playmaker; today, he was on another level. Repeatedly, Lamar Jackson found Likely in both 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 work, and their chemistry was on full display. Twice, Jackson connected with Likely for a touchdown, with multiple other passes gaining yards and moving the chains. Head coach John Harbaugh said Likely has put together a “fantastic training camp.”

“Another great day. Connected on a bunch of deep balls out there, he’s been spectacular with the route-running details,” Harbaugh said. “I feel like the timing has been fantastic with him. He’s just a very special athlete.”

The deep ball has been the crux of Jackson’s critics, and something the Ravens have worked to improve in training camp. Today, Jackson delivered his best practice going deep. Along with his connections to Likely, Jackson hit wide receiver Zay Flowers in stride along the boundary for a sizable gain and later in the practice when he gave wide receiver Sean Ryan a 50-50 ball against cornerback Marlon Humphrey, and Ryan delivered.

Unfortunately, Jackson’s best deep ball of training camp was a drop from Nelson Agholor. On the fourth play of practice, Jackson launched a rainbow across the field as Agholor gained multiple yards of separation from his defender running in the middle of the field. The placement of Jackson’s pass connected with Agholor in-stride, but he couldn’t secure the ball. When the ball hit the grass, so too did Jackson’s helmet in frustration.

During the final portion of 11-on-11s, Jackson once more found Agholor deep, who couldn’t haul in the pass along the sideline. Jackson once more expressed frustration.

Likely is a prize piece of the puzzle. He and Lamar have really hit it off, much like Jackson and Andrews.

Glad to hear #8 is having success going deep. Now he just has to translate that to the regular season. I still think it's a more psychological thing with him. Anyway, he's on target now at least.

Pit is about to walk down the path to losing seasons, trade multiple picks and sign a wide receiver to a mega deal.

Surprising for them since they draft that position so we'll. Auk is very good, but the draft has shown that he can be found in any year draft, He is not top 3...

Just read where D'Allesanris is out with an acute illness that will require on-going treatments. We've hired an interim replacement.

This is as big as any injury could be for the development of the O-line.

Good wishes for him and his family.

Some more info on the O-line:

Brian Wacker, The Sun:

Longtime Ravens offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris was hospitalized over the weekend for an acute illness, the team announced Wednesday.

The 70-year-old assistant, who was hired in 2017 after a long coaching career in college and the NFL, will require ongoing treatment for an extended period of time, according to the Ravens.

“Coach D’Alessandris is widely respected and cherished in our organization,” coach John Harbaugh said in a statement. “As he focuses on his health, we offer him unwavering support.”

In the meantime, the Ravens have hired George Warhop to coach the offensive line.

Warhop, 62, has been an offensive line coach for several teams around the league since 1996, including the then-St. Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars and most recently the Houston Texans in 2022. He spent just one season in Houston.

“With expertise in guiding top-level offensive linemen, his dedication and strong character will continue to develop our offensive line during Coach D’s absence,” Harbaugh said in a statement.

Before the NFL, Warhop was an assistant for 11 years at the college level for Boston College, Southern Methodist, New Mexico, Vanderbilt, Kansas and Cincinnati. He also spent two seasons as the offensive coordinator for NFL Europe’s London Monarchs.

This offseason, the Ravens also hired Travelle Warton as an assistant offensive line coach. He spent last year as the Washington Commanders’ offensive line coach.

Being without D’Alessandris, however, is a blow.

Been listening to the Filmstudy podcast with Ken McCusick(sp?). Great listens and really granular analysis.  Late to the game with him, but enjoying it.  Seems to be a lot of concern over our O-line and the depth of our D-line.

Guess we'll learn more after this weekend.

With D'Allesandris not coaching the Offensive Line, I have an even bleaker outlook on that unit than before.

I hope I'm wrong but we appear to be very weak with not a lot of cohesion and chemistry what with all the players gone from last year and now with Linderbaum missing significant time and their excellent coach out for an extended period.
