oldno82 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 For the first time in years, the owner and GM will be giving a presser Tuesday at 2 pm. Glad to see Steve stepping in. There's a real need to hear from him and EDC right now. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Damn. Not sure this next era will work. I got one derogatory name for him now. He best start stepping up or I will begin to use it. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted January 9 Posted January 9 To a degree that kind of thing works. This is football and that is the reputation of the nation so it’s different. I’m to the point of getting change via team humiliation and team economic jihad. Quote
GrubberRaven Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Works so well for our government, why not? Your names are as creative as his. Should we check you for Dementia? Quote
papasmurfbell Posted January 9 Posted January 9 At least I know the difference between a dementia test and an iq test. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Monday at 11:07 PM Posted Monday at 11:07 PM It’s not saying much. Shows not much to be qualified to run the country. Quote
tsylvester Posted Tuesday at 08:00 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:00 PM The Biscuit: "we have players on the offensive line that did not develope, took a step back, why? Coaching, so we have to fix that" On free agents on the team and Lamar's contract; want it done before free agency hits so we can sign our own players and go from there. If we have to, we will toss the $75 mil into void years and have him at this year's price. What I (the Biscuit) want to see happen is just add money to the current contract, it is that simple. Eric, 9 interviews between now and Sunday Quote
GrubberRaven Posted Tuesday at 09:30 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:30 PM I thought that was a pretty refreshing conference. I think we're lucky to have Steve as our owner Quote
tsylvester Posted Tuesday at 10:29 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:29 PM I agree, very good owner, inviting Lamar to sit in on the interviews, great sense of humor. His passion for the team came through loud and clear. A great watch/listen Quote
oldno82 Posted Tuesday at 11:03 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 11:03 PM I detected very little or no BS during the press conference. Steve answered all the questions thrown at him. (If only our politicians would do the same!) I also liked how he called the press by their first name. There was no phoniness about the guy. Seems like a regular guy with good instincts and the ability to think things through without going off half-cocked. He is right on the coaching being the problem. For example, the O-line, with maybe one exception, had a new coach who couldn't match DiAllesandris' abilities in doing the job. While i don't understand completely how void years work, it seems like the team can take the hit of Lamar's $75 million without becoming excessively cash strapped if it gets to that point. It was interesting that he wants Lamar to have more money via a new contract. Quote
tsylvester Posted Tuesday at 11:38 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:38 PM I hope they get a head coach soon, the good oc's will be taken quickly what with the Iggles and Chargers now needing one Quote
oldno82 Posted Tuesday at 11:46 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 11:46 PM I hope they do too. Now that Pittsburgh's job is open, I'm hoping that doesn't delay our getting a new HC as well...an additional good opening may mean a delay? Quote
tsylvester Posted Wednesday at 12:13 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:13 AM Pit has many issues, it is not as good of a job as some think. They are aged, on defense, and some on offense. Then there is the qb situation, they don't have one and draft a bit low to get one in this coming weak qb draft class. They have been running on duct tape and chewing gum for years. Quote

Was Steve wearing an ifb in his ear and getting fed media-members names? 1 hour ago, tsylvester said: Pit has many issues, it is not as good of a job as some think. There was lots of out of town press too. It would be really unusual if he knew everyone there by name. Quote
tsylvester Posted Wednesday at 02:14 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:14 PM Everyone gives their name before asking a question, case solved Quote

They went all in on vets getting them over the hump and it ended the same. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Wednesday at 04:15 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:15 PM They have no qb. Really aging stars on d. A decent rb and an ok ol. Looking at them they are a pinto with $2000 rims. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted Wednesday at 08:17 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:17 PM Now after listening I think we are screwed. In 2-3 yrs I think we are at this place again. Eric and sachi getting to make the choice of hc I a horrible idea. Steve ceding control to them is a bad move. As I have thought for a very long time. Steve is out of his element when it comes to football decisions and is snowed by those around him about the moves needing to be made. Quote
