So as a dc say you want to run heavy press coverage.  The db coach teaches primarily off coverage.  Could that not become an issue on the field?  I liked in the past our coordinators picking their staffs.  It worked real well for a long time.

I get your point, but a db coach should not just be teaching one type of coverage.

Each coach, yes, has a slightly different way they want to have, in this instance, dbs plays coverage. 

But, as Billick did with his offensive players, the hc, if knowledgeable on one side of the ball or the other, lays out how they want that side to be. 

Now in this case, Minter worked with Minkens and they have the same approach to playing defense, so it make good sense.

Hey, maybe Minter is going to be the DC afteralll, who knows.

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Baltimore is set to hire former Atlanta run game coordinator/offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford for the same job and title.

Ledford, 49, had served as the Falcons line coach since 2021, adding run game coordinator to his title when Raheem Morris became head coach in 2024.

Ledford spent time with several franchises as a player, appearing in nine games for San Francisco from 2000-2003

I was not impressed with Atlanta.

Look who was qbing for them.

With a great rb they underperformed in that area.  Their ol ranked as a top 10 unit but the production didn’t show it.  So he gets a crappy ol and we expect better output?  Also why isn’t 5he oc choosing the ol coach?  That is an area if you go the shanahan finesse route a you can’t get a joe bugle type coach.

I expect change on the offensive line, at the least just Faalele, possibly both guards and at least 1 tackle.

A fresh set of eyes, a different view of the players and yes, better coaching. Remember, a side from 1 player on the line, Vorhees, that line in each of the past 2 years, was one of the best.

As for rankings, especially by PFF, meh, they are for selling hits and clicks, fantasy & such.

If Kirk Cousins, a statue, could have that team 1 game from the playoffs after their horrible start, yeah, I give this guy a lot of room

The couple falcons games I watched I was very unimpressed with their run game.

He is considered one of the best by people in the know, and 2 games is not exactly a lot of film time

They seem to be pretty high on Doyle, if reports are true. He had some good "teachers", I'm still holding out hope for Monken

I've been wondering about Monken...why hasn't Harbaugh hired him yet...why haven't the Giants reached out to the Ravens to release him?

Maybe the Ravens will announce something on coordinators tomorrow when they have the presser on Minter.

Webb is taking the round table of interviewing for head coach jobs and as an oc for a few teams. Ravens have requested an interview.

He is intersting, former qb, good college qb, not so good pro.

Worked under Payton, helped develope Nix who has turned into quite a pro.

But he has never called plays, been a qb coach and passing game coordinator. That is not to say he will fail, but my thinking; we have a first year head coach, I would think you want someone with at least some experience as a coordinator, no?

As for Todd, he has interviews set up to be head coach, so we shall see.

I'm glad for him. He deserves a shot. Just wish it was some other team in another division with a better organization!
