I was hearing Schwartz wouldn’t work for a young hc.  So maybe he stays.  I would love him.

After a lengthy search process that featured multiple rejections and a slew of coaching candidates, the Browns finally landed their next head coach on Wednesday. The team announced that Todd Monken, former offensive coordinator of the Ravens, would be taking up the role vacated by Kevin Stefanski.

That decision, it seems, is already having ripple effects within the building. According to reporting from NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who was a candidate for the vacant head coaching role, was “visibly upset” after learning that he’d not been given the job.


Pelissero reports that Schwartz went as far as to “say goodbyes” to people in the building and told other coaches that he’s “not coming back.”

Schwartz has been Cleveland’s defensive coordinator since 2023, and he remains under contract through the 2026 campaign. He interviewed twice for the head coaching vacancy before the team opted to go with Monken. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Monken is open to the idea of Schwartz staying on as defensive coordinator, though that feeling may not be mutual.

The Browns’ coaching search was a mess from the start. Multiple reports indicated that various candidates had pulled out of the running for the job––even those without prior head coaching experience, such as Jaguars OC Grant Udinski and former Chargers DC Jesse Minter (who took the Ravens’ job). Now that they’ve finally landed their next coach, that decision has seemingly fractured the locker room and could even lead to the departure of their defensive coordinator, who has been one of the most influential individuals in the building in recent years.

They would probably have to do that if they want Cleveland to give their permission for us to interview him since that would be a promotion instead of a lateral move for Schwartz.

good news: Warhop's going to Cleveland to be Monken's O-line coach.

As mad/hurt/disappointed as he was, he may force them to fire him, and be free to move on some where.

With that said, he was ticked off because he interviewed for the he job and didn't get it, the same happened here. So maybe he won't want to come here and instead go somewhere he hasn't interviewed for a he job

One of the trademarks of Jesse Minter's defenses with the Los Angeles Chargers was that he maximized All-Pro safety Derwin James' versatility.

As the new head coach of the Ravens, Minter inherits arguably the most talented and versatile safety in the NFL in Kyle Hamilton. Understandably, the three-time All-Pro is "super excited" about working with Minter and his staff.

"I think he's hired a great staff so far for us," Hamilton said on NFL Network’s “The Insiders” at Super Bowl Radio Row. "I've had sparingly conversations with him and some people around the building, and they have a plan for me, which is really cool."

Minter is equally as excited to work with Hamilton  "He is a positionless defensive player that I would classify as a weapon on defense," Minter said at his introductory press conference. "As much as you can do to get a guy like Kyle near the point of attack, I think, is what you try to do as a designer [or] playcaller. I could not be more thrilled to be able to work with Kyle."

Hamilton also said he is looking forward to the team getting a fresh start after a disappointing season.

"I think everybody on the team's excited for the future," Hamilton said. "Obviously appreciative of the past, but I think we're ready to move forward and hopefully next year will turn out a little different for us. … Obviously, last season didn't go the way that we wanted it to, and to kind of do the same thing over again, it's just like banging your head against the wall just expecting a different result."

Regarding the Ravens' decision to part ways with Head Coach John Harbaugh after 18 seasons, Hamilton said: "Obviously, it was a tough decision for our front office to make, letting Harbs go. Very emotional decision for sure because it's kind of like family at that point.

"But I think it is somewhat needed – but for both sides. I think he's going to do a great job in New York and I think we're going to be great as well. I think everyone kind of won."
