oldno82 Posted Saturday at 06:42 AM Posted Saturday at 06:42 AM Wow! The youth movement is really on! Quote
oldno82 Posted Saturday at 06:54 AM Posted Saturday at 06:54 AM Read this on The Sun website today: "Minter’s offensive staff is expected to include Dwayne Ledford, who is reportedly being hired away from Atlanta. Ledford, 49, is widely regarded as one of the league’s top offensive line coaches and run game coordinators." I really like where we're heading there. Quote
oldno82 Posted Saturday at 08:35 PM Posted Saturday at 08:35 PM Anybody got any thoughts on the Doyle hiring? Quote
tsylvester Posted Saturday at 10:45 PM Author Posted Saturday at 10:45 PM Pessimistic at best, but we shall see. Rex may be in the running for DC, cant say I love that move if it happens Quote
oldno82 Posted Saturday at 11:14 PM Posted Saturday at 11:14 PM Well, I agree it is risky hiring an OC with no experience calling plays. But, they say he's a Wunderkind so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until I hear from him how he's gonna coach a bunch of the veteran players. I do know it's gotten good marks from pretty much everybody in the sports media. Rex back in B'more seems a stretch to me at this point. He's got some good points but plenty of bad ones regarding his personality. He wasn't exactly a success after he became a head coach and didn't have Ray Lewis, Tony S., Ed Reed, et. al., to carry the D. I'm not sure I'd be happy with that hire. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 01:07 AM Posted Sunday at 01:07 AM Rex does know how to run a d. He did it up in ny. I just don’t think he can run a whole d. His energy in team drills can be helpful. Quote
oldno82 Posted Sunday at 02:12 AM Posted Sunday at 02:12 AM Did you mean to say’whole team’ or ‘whole d’? Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 02:29 AM Posted Sunday at 02:29 AM The d. If Rex is dc he doesn’t deal with the rest of the team. Quote
oldno82 Posted Sunday at 04:44 AM Posted Sunday at 04:44 AM Right. So you’re saying he could still coach defensive players but shouldn’t call plays. Quote
tsylvester Posted Sunday at 12:09 PM Author Posted Sunday at 12:09 PM Minter has said he will call plays, not the dc whom ever it may be Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 04:45 PM Posted Sunday at 04:45 PM The hc said he was calling plays. I don’t have an issue with Rex doing it. He is solid there. But that won’t be an option. You need someone to be in the room with the d and teaching them all the time. Someone to be looking around and seeing the dl group is doing something wrong and can say it wed instead of learning about it Sunday. There is no way a hc can do it all. He has to sit in on offense some. He has to look in on st. He has to put some time in with various pp, like a challenge coach. We need a defensive overseer and Rex can be that. Hell I would love Marvin for it too. Quote
oldno82 Posted Sunday at 04:48 PM Posted Sunday at 04:48 PM Yes...that's what I heard Minter say. Quote

tsylvester Posted Sunday at 05:56 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:56 PM Ravens Interviewing Rex Ryan Favorite for DC Job: Report https://share.google/B93r7gkj1yjvBcCcQ They were or are going to interview him. Leonard already took the job with the Bills. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 07:33 PM Posted Sunday at 07:33 PM I’m just saying either would be good. I didn’t look for any source. I only heard Leonard interviewed. Quote
oldno82 Posted Sunday at 07:53 PM Posted Sunday at 07:53 PM Well, Leonhard sounds like he would have been ideal. It's a shame we lost out on him to the Bills. Rex has been out of coaching for a long time. I'll be surprised if he was willing to come back. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 08:11 PM Posted Sunday at 08:11 PM If he’s interviewing he must be interested. Quote
tsylvester Posted Sunday at 10:22 PM Author Posted Sunday at 10:22 PM He has always said he wanted to get back to coaching, he just needed a short break, or what he thought would be one. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted Sunday at 10:53 PM Posted Sunday at 10:53 PM His takes on the league suck so he is better off on the sideline. Quote
oldno82 Posted Sunday at 11:09 PM Posted Sunday at 11:09 PM I'm not so sure he's coming to the Ravens. I don't think he's on the interview list. Now it was asked of Harbaugh if he would be interested in teaming up again with Ryan in NY. Harbaugh didn't rule that out but it's hard to tell how serious either Ryan or Harbaugh is about it. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted yesterday at 12:06 AM Posted yesterday at 12:06 AM I don’t see Rex dropping down to line coach again. Quote
