vmax
The 20011 Ravens Winning Identity?.... if they choose to go forward with it. #1. For 15 years I've seen the Ravens win ugly. Good to see it again today because it works. Of course I want to relax and watch a blowout, but Cam is losing winnable games trying to build that model. Let's just gets the wins. #2. Run the ball.A 50/50 run pass ratio is the surest path to victory for the Ravens. They did it today. It keeps the defenses honest. It keeps Joe on his feet and off his ass. It sets up the play action and the deep ball. The O line is built to road grade...let them. Leach is The Punisher. The Humiliator. Let them beat on a D and wear them out. Get Ray 20-25 touches and good things happen...like today. #3. Solid Special Teams. Cundiff and Koch ruled today and they controlled field position. #4. The D wasn't spectacular today but they were fast, furious and passionate. They stopped the run and forced Dalton to beat them with his arm. Dalton who supposedly doesn't rattle, threw 3 crucial INT's and had some other clunkers. Well..it's there...the path to the playoffs and beyond if they don't abandon it. Just stick with it...perfect it... Edited November 20, 2011 by vmax
cravnravn
Yes it was a great game, but theres one thing I didnt like..We had the ball with a little over 5 minutes up 7 points, we needed to control the dam clock. We havent developed a killer instinct..We were extremely fortunate to have the Gresham call overturned or this would have been an ugly loss for us. varaven45
Yep. We needed to pound it yesterday at 3rd and 1 (w/5 min left) and actually make it. We could have run out the clock. Its almost as if we never make it on 3rd and 1 anymore. Can we not pound anymore ? I keep hear about our road grading OL and FB Leach but yet even with Rice we cannot convert these 3rd and shorts. Either our OL is mediocre at best or Rice is just a slasher. I would love to pick up a big, fast, strong runner to complement Ray Rice, somebody like a Peyton Hillis or Trent Richardson (Bama). Yeah, I know I am talking off season but this team needs to run the dang ball.
cravnravn
We are misusing leach, Ray Rice needs to run behind him, prior to this year hes only had 4 carries.

Cam throws this guy swing routes like hes marshall faulk or something. Let him plow the way for rice and Maybe, just MAYBE, let the big fella get a 3rd and inches or goalline touch. But never think that youre going to hit leach on some pass play and hes gonna juke 3 guys and outrun the pack to the house. It will never happen. that type of thing worked better for mcclain he was closer to a RB than leach
varaven45
You are right. Cam has some fetish for turning (or trying to turn) his FBs into Jerry Rice or something.Just block for Rice and open up some holes. Isnt that we did for Arian Foster last year ? Cmon man ! colincac
Also, can we not try a Toss out of the I-Formation in short yardage? The other team always commits everyone to the middle since we pound Rice behind Leach, but if we have Leach run up in there and toss it to Rice I'm not sure how he DOESN'T get the 1 Yard in space versus a defender or two.
