vmax Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Ravens O line ranked 9th...they think better about them than we do. 9. Baltimore Ravens LT: Bryant McKinnie*LG: Kelechi OsemeleC: Matt Birk*RG: Marshal Yanda*RT: Michael Oher* Top reserves: T/G Jah Reid, OT Ramon Harewood, G/C Justin Boren, C/G Gino Gradkowski, OG Howard Barbieri. Overview: Baltimore's top reserves have zero combined NFL starts, but the starting five is among the most talented in football. There is also some feeling amongst league evaluators that outgoing LG Ben Grubbs was overrated and ultimately overpaid by New Orleans. At nearly 6-foot-6, 327 with 36-inch arms and 43 starts at Iowa State, Osemele could prove an upgrade on Grubbs sooner rather than later. The wildcards here are McKinnie and Oher. Both played capably enough last year to keep Joe Flacco protected consistently, but possess talent to perform with far more dominance. McKinnie should feel some urgency this season. Going on age 33, he's entering the last year of his deal and playing for what could potentially be his final NFL contract.http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/40484/179/2012-offensive-line-rankings "Here we go!" What's considered average in the NFL as far as that stat goes? Quote
oldno82 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Tom Brady was sacked 32 times; Drew Brees was sacked 24 times. Don't know the average in 2011 but in 2008 it was 32.6. Quote
vmax Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 #10 rushing attack...remember...Cam got pass happy for awhile there. "We're gonna throw every down Torrey!" Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 I just remember to many times when they couldn't run when they wanted like the PO's. Quote
vmax Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 I just remember to many times when they couldn't run when they wanted like the PO's. Playoffs especially. Rice had a 3.0 ypc. Quote
oldno82 Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 And we were no good rushing in short yardage situations. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 And we were no good rushing in short yardage situations. More than anything that is weak line play. Quote
oldno82 Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 More than anything that is weak line play.Yup...I don't blame either Rice or Ricky Williams there. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 No when they run into 2-3 guys in the hole they can't do much about that. Quote
yagersports Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 The O-line has been fairly solid in my opinion. There's always room for improvement and the short yardage thing is definitely something that has to change. Who knows what our offensive stats and playoff outcome could have been if we would have been able to finish even 50% more of the failed short yardage attempts. Perhaps that is why we went after the rookie RB. Isn't a bit a hard nosed runner? Quote
oldno82 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 He's hardnosed but so was Ricky Williams and it didn't help. The O-line had trouble pushing off the line. Quote
