And its not just football, its any job, to you honestly think your former company(s) give a rats ass as to what you are doing now? or how you are doing? Edited June 15, 2012 by cravnravn Quote
cravnravn Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 As long as Vegas dosent fall into the Pacific, we will have Football. Quote
papasmurfbell Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 The same could be said for boxing horseracing and MLB in the 20's. Quote
Dunno Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I actually don't think it will remain as popular as it is now. The main question is what will go first, the influx of new players or fans? For one, I think the influx of youth into the sport will dwindle due to all the injuries and the longevity of a football career compared to other sports. In soccer or basketball you can go abroad if you can't cut it in the top league (even if you can't go to the top league in a major soccer nation of course) and still make a decent living for say 10 years. Not so much in football. I also don't think the move towards a pass only league will prove popular in the long run. If it were, Arena Football would be huge. Football is great because of the balance between offense and defense and unlike two-way sports (basketball, soccer) you can more easily appreciate defensive play in football. You can also score while playing defense in football unlike almost any other sport. Then there is the whole issue of continuous expansion, ticket price increases, blackouts, etc. To me, the golden era of football is over. It was 2000 - 2010, but we will see. Quote

BengalBilly Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Bulls**t. Football is immortal. It was here before we came, and it'll be here after we're gone. Quote

papasmurfbell Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 But horseracing as an industry is falling apart. There are some hot spots but the industry is hurting. The yanks red sox and the 8 or so others are hot while you have bottom dwellers who are hurting. Quote
