vmax
and I'm not feeling good about this... “Not much happened this week," Clayton said of negotiations between the Ravens and Rice's agent, Todd France, "and that’s a little ominous to try and get something done.” If Rice and the Ravens cannot reach a deal by Monday, he will make about $7.7 million while playing under the franchise tag. According to Clayton, Rice is seeking a deal worth more than $9 million a year. Houston’s Arian Foster and Philadelphia’s LeSean McCoy have helped set the market for Rice and Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte – who is also up against the franchise tag deadline. Foster signed a five-year, $43.5 million extension this offseason, and McCoy signed a five-year deal worth about $46.6 million. Both deals involve more than $20 million in guaranteed money, and Rice is expected to command a deal worth at least as much. What remains to be seen is what, if any, fallout occurs if no deal is reached. Sports Illustrated’s Chris Burke noted that, “Rice appears willing to sit out camp, and possibly beyond, if the Ravens don’t step up. … This situation has the most potential to disrupt a playoff contender.” Clayton said the Ravens “have a little bit of a history of not going to the very top in paying a running back.” “Are they willing to make the jump to $9 million? If so, something will get done,” Clayton said. “If not, then probably not.”<a href="http://www.csnbaltimore.com/football-baltimore-ravens/ravens-talk/Clayton-Ominous-lack-of-progress-on-Rice?blockID=740294&feedID=6703">http://www.csnbaltimore.com/football-baltimore-ravens/ravens-talk/Clayton-Ominous-lack-of-progress-on-Rice?blockID=740294&feedID=6703 Rice makes the offense go....but $9 mil a year is too much money. He's the best of the lot. varaven45
Ozzie & Co are playing a little Russian roulette here. We don't want a Rice -less offense this season or have a long holdout. It's time to do the deal !
vmax
Just watched week 17 game against the Bengals.... SIGN RAY RICE NOW! "well you do look a little like Alfred E Newman..." BTW...Dalton looked like crap as a passer in a game that had all the marbles on the line. His arm does not scare me like a healthy Carson Palmers arm. varaven45
Max, You are right . This offense is punch less w/o Rice. We can't give em the moon but the FO ought to be able to slot him in there between Foster and mcCoy $ . Let's go Ozzie and Biscuit !

vmax
Hey!I'm driving down the road, talking to you, trying to listen to the radio, reading texts and emails, eating a taco salad and watching out for cops...what do you expect?! Rice and the Ravens reached a long-term contract on Monday just before the 4 p.m. franchise deadline, agreeing in principle to a five-year deal. The deal is reportedly worth $40 million, according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times, making Rice one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL.He reportedly will get $17 million in the first year of the contract and $25 million over the first two seasons. CBSSports’ Jason La Canfora reports that $24 million is guaranteed.http://www.baltimoreravens.com/News/Articles/2012/07/Ray_Rice_Signs.aspx

vmax
The Baltimore Ravens have signed franchised running back Ray Rice to a five-year contract only minutes before Monday's deadline. The deal is worth $40 million contract and will pay Rice $17 million in the first year and $25 million in the first two years, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. They just picked up about 2 mil in CAP space....and depressed the AFC North...and anybody on their schedule this year.
