cravnravn Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 With a deal for running back Ray Rice now finished, the Baltimore Ravens are optimistic they can reach a contract extension with quarterback Joe Flacco by the time training camp opens next week, sources tell ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8177349
yagersports Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 We should probably trade Flacco and get value for him now. Let's get Tyrod in there this year. We'll draft our QB of the future in the offseason.
papasmurfbell Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I already had some. I wouldn't trade Joe. I don't think you would get a 1st rounder and also good QB's are hard to find.
papasmurfbell Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Aaron on 105.7 a little bit ago said this is posturing. Joes team may not like the Ravens offer.
cravnravn Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 According to the article, Joes team sounds as happy as pigs in shit.
yagersports Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 They should be, they're gonna get paid. Especially if the FO waits until the playoffs, cuz once that happens it's all over, Flacco is gonna be a champion.
oldno82 Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 The contract for Joe is going to require some imagination from both parties. I like Joe. However, he's not at this time an elite qb like Brady or Manning. But he could become one. Therefore, they should give him top 10 to 5 base contract with enough incentives to be in the elite category, such as extra money for an AFC Championship game, a low interception to TD ration, yards gained, etc. It isn't a perfect solution because so much depends on Cam's offensive philosophy and how they use Joe and then how he performs. But it seems more reasonable than just sticking him in with the top 5 or in the 10-5 spot without any hope of getting more money.
papasmurfbell Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Make it a base 12 mil deal with incentives to pay him at the elite level.
cravnravn Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 Why incentives? He has nothing more to prove
papasmurfbell Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Because that will get him the elite money that the team has not been willing to get him up to.
vmax Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 "Why can't they just give him what he wants? It's 2012 and the world is going to end anyway."
papasmurfbell Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Then you should be like Mickey and kill your family and yourself.
