papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Whats up with that? I don't know is they will get Rainey back. Also Allen looked good as a runner. An OL that actually blocks and he can get the job done.
cravnravn Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 No way in hell Rainey clears waivers, have you seen Picksburgs running game???
vmax Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I guess are hoping Rainey clears waivers and then they can put him on the practice squad. Hope...because he's a Ray Rice clone who would really help if Ray misses a game or 2.They probably want more power in the #2 RB position, but you can't put a RB on the field who can't pass protect...something Allen struggles with.
yagersports Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Rainey was put on the PUP or IR I believe wasn't he? I remember reading something that he took a hell of hit the last preseason game and something in his back has swelled. The article said that Rainey wasn't going to seek and injury settlement to move to another team.
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 OK I didn't have any details. I just went by what happened during the game. They said Rainey was cut.
yagersports Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I may be thinking of another guy, but I think that's what happened to Rainey. Things happen so fast though.
cravnravn Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Rainey is back in, cant believe he cleared waivers..Ravens sign him to the practice squad
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 Shocking. Chick must have been thinking of another guy.
oldno82 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Am I mistaken or can another team sign your practice squad player even after waivers??
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 Yep they can. If they do the player has to be on the active roster for some number of weeks that I can't remember.
oldno82 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Oh so the catch is that they have to be active. Got it!
papasmurfbell Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 Yeah. They can't just grab him and stock him away. You can bring them up in your system and send them down without issue I think.
yagersports Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 It was Damien Berry I was thinking of, had the RBs mixed up.
papasmurfbell Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 I see the problem. They both have an R, E, and Y in their names. It could be confusing for someone liek you.
vmax Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Rainey is back on the practice squad. Rainey, who is similar in stature to 5-8 Ray Rice, was a better receiver out of the backfield, faster than Allen and a much better blocker in pass protection. Running backs coach Wilbert Montgomery lauded Rainey for being advanced as a blocker for a rookie, something that Allen failed at miserably during the preseason. With special teams coverage being a possible weakness for the Ravens, however, Harbaugh felt compelled to make the move. He'd already lost Emanuel Cook for the season to a broken leg on a special-teams play. It's the one area where Allen was better than Rainey. "We just did it for special teams reasons, pure and simple," Harbaugh explained Monday night. "Anthony Allen has done a great job on special teams and we made a strategic roster move we hope works out for us."http://www.csnbaltimore.com/football-baltimore-ravens/ravens-talk/Rainey-resurfaces-with-practice-squad?blockID=771639&feedID=6703
cravnravn Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Am I mistaken or can another team sign your practice squad player even after waivers?? Yes they can, remember we lost Derrick Anderson to Leaveland that way
