Ravens Toughest Opponent

It's Thursday night football and the schedule. It's going to cost them a game, maybe 2, because fatigue will beat them....not their opponent.

The Ravens opened the 2012 season on “Monday Night Football” and will play their fourth game on Thursday, Sept. 27, completing as grueling a stretch of tackle football as we’ve ever seen.

“The four games in 17 days is strictly for the money,” Baltimore safety Bernard Pollard told me Thursday night. “We as players understand that so we do everything possible to take care of our bodies. It’s on the coaches to understand what we go through and to give us a break, because that’s a lot of pounding in a short amount of time.”

This really sucks.

As a fan I'm going to the Patriots Sunday night game...an 8:30 start...11:30-midnight end...if lucky get to bed by 2...wake up for work at 4:30.

I can't come back and do that again on Thursday. So I'm giving those tickets away.

And I'm just watching, not playing the game.

 

The only equalizer is the Thursday game is against the Browns who have a short week too....but none of the players will have the rest and recouperation that they need to play at the level they need to play at to be safe and effective.

Because there are so many games in small intricacies of how these schedule works is to hard to notice. They are desperate to fit it in around baseball and NBA schedules. It is a tough thing getting 32 teams 16 games in 17 weeks.

All thursday night games should be proceeded by a bye week for the teams playing. Expand the regular season by 1 week (start one week earlier) to make it happen.
