Let the cap calisthenics begin, as they try to exercise the Lamar contract/ tag. First as we said earlier, Chuck Clarke is being traded, clearing about $4.1 mil from the cap. Now Micheal Pierce is taking a restructure, turning $2 mil in base salary into incentives, saves the team $2.6 mil roughly. These two moves leave the Ravens with needing to clear @ $3 mil more to be cap ready by the league year next week.

Preston: It’s time for the Ravens and Lamar Jackson to part ways

Well, Lamar might be trying to make a case to be highly paid, but the Ravens tried numerous times to make him one of the highest paid. So let us be honest Lamar.. https://nypost.com/2023/03/10/lamar-jackson-breaks-silence-on-twitter-amid-ravens-franchise-tag-drama/ -

An excellent article on this debacle as some would call it.. https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/lamar-jackson-ian-rapoport-variety-different-ways-contract By the time the NFL franchise tag deadline passed Tuesday afternoon, Lamar Jackson had been placed on the non-exclusive tag by the Ravens, and Daniel Jones and the New York Giants had reached an agreement on a contract extension. Jackson is set to earn $32.4 million next season, while Jones' average annual salary will be $40 million over the next four years. The contrasting outcomes prompted the following knee-jerk reaction on social media: How is it possible that a 26-year-old former NFL MVP didn't receive a long-term, lucrative contract but a quarterback with a significantly less impressive resume did? -

Mike Wilbon, a man I respect, one who I've enjoyed reading over the years and listening to, on his thoughts when asked about teams saying they have no interest in Lamar; "Tony, teams know what the Ravens offered, they know it was Not $120 (mil), not $140 (mil) but probably north of $180 (mil) in guarantees. Yes they are wealthy enough owners, but that doesn't mean they are wealthy enough to say yeah, we're wealthy enough to go north of $200 (mil) just because Cleveland did it." /quote As for me, I am sure some of these same teams will call Lamar, just to do their due diligence, that some of this is draft posturing, to keep those draft quarterbacks and price of those high draft picks, high... -

Look it is either Lamar or going through this every four-five years IF they draft a qb who pans out. Shoot, Daniel Jones got $40 mil per season. If they don't draft a good qb, we are bottom dwellers for 3-5 years until they do -
Again, you can't combine the strength coach with this stupid poll. One of the major criteria of the poll is having baby changing tables! Are you serious?! I'm all for family, he'll I have two kids, changed a ton of diapers, was a home dad for a year or two. But no way do I expect an NFL lockerroom to have baby changing tables. A towel on the floor is fine, changed many a diaper that way at home. Yes, no doubt the strength coach was bad for this team. If you have played any sports, you run into bad coaches from time to time. What do you think as vocal a leader as Ray, Ed, Terrell were, that this is the first we hear of it?! No, every player worth his salt that has come through this organization has said it is hands down the best, from management to working conditions. This poll is crap, the team finally did the right thing and got rid of a strength coach that some players thought was too aggressive. End of story, this team, this organization is just fine

The Chiefs are starting to feel the pinch, letting a player they traded for, even tagged in the past walk now because he has earned the right to big money. The Ravens have a good young group, a restructure here or there keeps then in decent cap shape. But as we have talked about before here, the league had to do something about these $40 mil per year salaries. Even by drafting well, it is not sustainable -

So now we wait a week before he can start talking to teams about a deal. Then wait a few hours for him to file with the NFLPA about collusion, right? -

tsylvester replied to vmax's topic in Baltimore Ravens
Well, they've been in Miami talking things over all day, still not close. 2 possible landing spots off the table, though the Saints weren't really a realistic spot with so little draft capital. My guess is he plays chicken, gladly signs the tender for that cash since it will be guaranteed, then bolts next year. There is a chance the Ravens trade him, but the only real team in position is Atlanta, maybe Texans, but no way he signs the tender to go play for the Jets, in that weather? The wind in that stadium is far worse than here and we know how he struggles to throw in the wind. Not too mention how he plays bad in cold and rain.. -
