I would love to know what happned in the lockeroom at half time. Something had to have happened for them to comoletely collapse in the 2nd half. They weren't tired from the game, the clock was pretty even at half time. Shoot, even Averate was able to man up and cover very well in the first half. Yeah, same type of rush you should do against running qb's, stay level, close in around him. We knew this line would be a work in progress, there is a big difference in pass blocking for a pocket passer like say Brady, and blocking for an elusive runner like Lamar or even Murray. I am sure they will work it out.

Should be, hopefully, Murray and Allen made the jump, the turn. Lamar is close, having a healthy Bateman will help, he seems to get open regularly. The line giving him a second more in time would help. I think he just needs to relax and play, not try to aim passes, just hitch & throw. If it's not there, run. Wait for the season to play out. Comfortable is not a word that I would use to describe him in the pocket. He took five sacks last game, several the game before. Are they all on him? No, the line has had issues with pass blocking. But he is hessitating, seems to struggle with when to take off or throw leading to sacks. Sure, we want him to keep his eyes down field, but so far it appears that he has no pocket awareness. Burrow wasn't sacked at all in the first half, dispite multiple times when his line broke down. Yet he threw the ball away, escaped, after feeling the rush. But not Lamar. It may be that he is stuck between the pocket passer and running quarterback. Shoot, he is even running into, tripping over his own linemen. Has the passing improved? Sure, a bit, nothing consistent though. Receivers are still getting little seperation, Lamar is still hessitant to throw those outside the numbers passes. One play yesterday, he connected with Brown early in the game, deep down the sideline, but lead him out of bounds for no catch. As the announcer pointed out later in the game, Lamar had Brown lined up against a linebacker, a linebacker! Just trust and throw on time down the right sideline, let Brown run away and under the pass it's a touchdown. Lamar pulled it down and threw short.. These are just two plays where he either.missed a throw, deep outside the numbers or refused to make the throw. He has improved to some extent, but also regressed in another.

Truly maddening isn't it?! They prove that they can be be solid in spirts, even for one in seven games. Then a switch gets turned off and they forget how to play together... As I said, it wasn't like the Bengals ran different plays in the 2nd half; they were the exact same plays, same routes/combinations. So what was the issue? Is it coaching? Harbs proved once again he needs a new replay person in the booth. Once again the team looked ill prepared. Sure, we saw some spurts of great, solid play on offense and defense. But nothing sustained, even the touchdowns, one was in 3 plays; great to see, but it took a great catch that barely counted. So fsr, 5-2, and honestly, this team has looked illprepared in all but one game. Granted injuries play a roll, or did, we are 7 games in, the replacements have shown that they can play as evident by the 5-2 record, what they have shown in spurts. Is it that they are inconsistent as to why they are replacements, or are there cosching adjustments made that should not be or not made that should have been?
