  1. Huntley can and has done that. I don't put much stock in a qb hitting a wide open man, more so in one missing a wide open man. I am happy with the team max, just asking a question, is a fully guaranteed contract for $300 mil worth it if... With a solid defense, good offensive line, a Huntley /drafted qb can help this team win... food for thought stuff ya know..
  2. You know that I have long been an out spoken opponent of Roman's. But the last few games he has really opened up his play book with some great schemes and timely play calls. Now the biggest hurdle has been Lamar and his accuracy. Once that comes back to the way he used to throw, high 60's, low 70's, this offense will take off.
  3. True, however I will counter with McDonald, who has made great adjustments as each game passes. With players understanding more of his ways of calling plays, with him seeing how best to use the players, what they are good at doing, it appears that he has found out how to stop the bleeding, as it were. We shall see..
  4. Week 18 will be a good time to have a fake bye week, rest some players... that game may not be needed
  5. Thnx oldno, to bring this back to the qb discussion, I wonder if with all of the aforementioned can a journeyman qb keep, make this team a winner? Sure, he has to be able to run so that the read option is still a threat. We know that Huntley can run and he does have good touch on passes that need it, also on deep throws. He just doesn't have the rocket arm Lamar does nor the true wiggle on runs to be honest.
  6. I was thinking about that move earlier today, Reich for Roman. Some people are just best suited for being coordinators and not head coaches... I wonder if Saturday is just a place holder for the rest of the year until Sean Peyton is able to coach with out draft compensation
  7. Untested? This isn't college football. They were tested last year, all of the subs that were forced to play major snaps most of the year. They were tested in the Miami game, trying to hold a huge lead, it ain't easy, same with Buffalo. Now that they are just about fully healthy, this season is about building chemistry, finding out what works (new DC). Yes, they will be tested, staying focused in games where they are favored, against bad teams,. What do most players do on bad teams? They play for contracts, which means they break scheme, they are harder to block, harder to plan for, can be a real challenge. Oh they will be tested, this is essentially the same core group of players who went 14-2. With Smith now leading the defense, with Williams coming back in December, a fully healthy Peters & Humphries, experienced back ups, all along the defensive line and in the secondary, this defense should be very, very good. The line is working out great with Stanley back, with Powers at guard, Lindy at center, Moses at the other tackle and pretty good depth too boot, once Gus and JK get back, with how well now Drake has taken to this running system plus how well Justice is now playing, yes, this run game will be able to run against anyone. What does a playoff team need? What travels well? Defense & running game, both need reps to work cohesively, reps against bad teams works just fine...
  8. Baby steps, as I said, they outscored their opponent in the 4th. With chemistry built, injured players coming back (Williams) and the addition of Smith, I think it will be a thing of the past. McDonald seems to be really figuring out how best to use these guys and get the most pressure on qbs....
  9. Wow did Houston & Cambell put the Malochi crunch on Dalton, holy smolley
  10. Perhaps more important, they had a 17-6 lead starting the 4th quarter, outscored the Saints 10-7 in said quarter. Baby steps
  11. Watching the 2nd half now. The Saints had the ball ONCE, in the third quarter, wow. A great job by the offense on the opening drive of the half to hold the ball for almost 7 minutes, should have had a touchdown (twice) but Tucker needs his pts too right? Also a fabulous job by the defense to bend and not break. Max, before the game I was wondering if Tucker could make a 72 yarder in the dome
  12. Well now, here we sit at 6-3, none of us thought possible including me. Of note, only 3 teams have started the season with double digit leads in each of its first nine games, the Ravens are one of them. The other two started out 9-0 and won the Super Bowl... hmmm People are healing now. Previously injured players have come back and are working into game shape + building chemistry. Yes a few bumps on the injury train, but we have a bye after a 10 day lay off, so nothing to worry about there.... Who knows what the future holds, but our next opponent is a lack luster team that can beat you if you don't take them seriously. With Smith in the fold, hungry for the playoffs, he will keep this team hungry to take the hope away from the next opponent
  13. If you listened closely, you could hear Smith calling out some of the plays the Saints were going to run. Man, how nice is it to see an ilb do that for us again, diagnose plays on the fly...
  14. In his defense, it has to be difficult to call plays when your qb can't hit the side of a barn with a hand grenade. Was it the full blood eclipsed moon? Most qbs this week could throw a pillow against the wall
  15. They did what was needed to beat a bad team. But if Lamar wants to be paid like Mahomes, Allen, etc, he has got to learn how to throw better, make better decisions. The pass to Likely, floating it over a linebacker, has to be hit, a major momentum play. He had to throw it properly to Robinson, an easy long touchdown. He has to throw it timely to Jackson, just as he is making his break, then Jackson can catch and make a move instead of being tackled right away. He has to see the field, on their second touchdown drive where he hits Drake in the flat for a first down, he had I think it was Proche wide open over the middle with a clear path to the endzone. Now Drake takes it in a few plays later, and Lamar made a few throws that were, wow, and I am not saying make all of the throws, no one does, everyone misses a throw no & then. But reading a defense, seeing the field, making certain types of throws, yes, those are things you pay top dollar for a quarterback. Decisions, on he kept it on a zone read, was tackled for no gain. Had he given it to Drake, who had a huge hole, it's at least a 4-5 yard gain. These are just a few examples, the same ones in every game, win or lose. Together they are indications that he is not progressing as a passer. Yes his legs are great, he also makes some incredible throws, but in five years, will he still be able to run? If not, the zone read goes away, those types of passes that are needed to extend leads, to gain first downs, to score, to win, are going to be very important. On to the bye week, get healthy, then come back and destroy another bad team.
  16. Great first half, Smith was as we hopes, a monster. Got a little lucky with Dalton missing the wide open receiver... 14-3, well done. Now finish! Sleep calls
  17. Name Jeff Saturday interim coach. I like Jeff as an analyst, he was a great player. But he has no coaching experience. What a bone headed move...
  18. ...
  19. Hmm, first I've heard neck with Andrews, is it a pinched nerve?
  20. Yes they are and the favorites do not always win....
  21. Maybe, the Jets just beat the Bills.. Any given Sunday
  22. Rogers, 15 of 27, 218 yards, 1 touchdown 3 picks, against the Lions. Allen, 14 of 24, 175 yards, 2 picks, 2 rushing touchdowns against the Jets Herbert, 22 of 33 165 yards, 1 td 1 pick All high dollar qbs, still time to play better in the 4th, but.... food for thought
  23. Well, that would depend on what they could get for Lamar. He is "worth more" than Wilson (Thirteen months later, Seattle traded Wilson to the Denver Broncos along with a 2022 fourth-round pick in exchange for Drew Lock, Shelby Harris, Noah Fant, Denver's first- and second-rounders in each of the next two drafts as well as a 2022 fifth-rounder) Now that alone would certainly make draft moves easier and not be a draft future in despair. Sure, we don't know if any of those future qbs will be good NFL qbs, but, $50 mil cap hit for one player? Maybe they can get Sam Howell from the Commandos along with picks. He is every bit as good, talent wise, as anyone in the draft. Makes all the throws, good touch on down field passes, back shoulder passes. He is also very, very mobile. Big strong kid. That gives you draft capital, 4 more years of a rookie deal with Howell, and still a solid line and defense augmented with draft capital, as an example
  24. Gus and Andrews are doubtful
  25. 6-4, 215 pounds. Runs a 4.3 40. Has huge catch radius with big hands, long arms, and body control. He is NOT Clarence Moore. Projected first round. Given that the Ravens do not currently have a 2nd round pick, it will be difficult to move up for him. Yes, they still need a few positions, but this kid is being compared, and rightfully so, to Mega Tron. This might be the draft to throw caution to the wind, do what it takes to move up and grab not just a deep threat, but a great possession receiver as well. This kid is a play maker, with quick feet, blazing speed and size..
