No doubt, I buy that one, who would have thought. I was on the phone with my daughter who was in college at the time as the Ravens were driving for the game winning score. Told her, "after they score the touchdown I will buy us tickets to the Super Bowl"... Guess I was the jinx, a dropped pass and a missed field goal...

No practice all week, a sloppy field: Rein all over them bears, who will be settling down for hibernation this time of year. Maybe a slow start, but heat up those hand warmers, the Ravens will be flying high by game's end...

IBS for Lamar, perhaps? Seems he is getting this "illness" quite often so perhaps. The flue is going around, why boggles my mind. If we are following covid protocols, hands washed, distance, mask, then how can the flue spread? No matter, we ain't taken no prisoners this Sunday, off with their heads! Time to make a nice throw rug of bear hyde...

Lesson to learn; don't gamble..

Bell is cut, look for more quickness in the back field; bout time.... Ravene rebound..

Food for thought; a game featuring 2 future hall of fame quarterbacks was 0-3 heading into the 4th quarter and currently sits 10-0 with 7 mins left.. Both qbs have thrown a pick, neither a touchdown pass at this point.... Again, food for thought when judging young qbs ...
-
Buy for sure, they just get more exposed; wear down, play outside the scheme trying to prove themselves. We may end up 8-9....
-
You can say that about most of the quarterbacks in the league. Green Bay likely wins if Rogers played against the Cheifs. Frankly if Lamar just plays average and completes those down field throws more than running for five yards, the Ravens win...

Colon may take over at center, Bozeman may still work out; both are still young and can play mulitple positions. Phylips is still growing into being a right tackle, but he too plays guard well. I think as the season goes on he may turn out to be a decent right tackle. So that is three right there, depth, solid starters, young. I think they definitely need to draft tackle early in 2022 draft, even IF Stanley comes back, which I doubt. There are going to be plenty of choices in that draft, some real good talent coming out at tackle. They have a ton of draft picks, they can find a safety, linebacker, defensive tackle, rush end and corner depth in this draft; it's deep.
-
It's not as if the entire line needs to be replaced. We are talking one maybe two. Remember Cleveland is coming back from an injury, he is a stud. Colon should also get playing time, he has shown he belongs. There are two guards/center, right there. So left tackle, maybe a right tackle. It's not all bad and can be done in one draft.

Yep, a db's position tells anlot about what defense they are in. If he is lined on the outside shoulder, he expects safety help to the inside. If on the inside shoulder, no safety help. Lamar doesn't seem to be able to grasp this, there have been times when itnis man to the field side and he ignores the deep ball down the sidelines that is open ifbhe throws it properly. Now, he is not the most accurate deep passer, but he has made this throw a time or two. Look, this game is different if Watkins catches that touchdown pass placed perfectly on the end line, but he lost sight of it for some reason.. Lamar has Brown open on a simole in route against zone to the boundary, but didn't trust the read. The safety was back, 8 yards, Andrews had the linebacker and corner occupied. Sure, Brown would get hit hard by the safety, but throw it on time, it's a 15 yard gain instead of 4 yard run by Lamar.

See that is part of the problem. Roman changes personnel after every play, it drives me nuts. It is not as if the runningbacks all run the same way. Bateman is a huge play maker for slants; use him on those; touchdown...

Yes, via the draft, draft well. Draft linemen who are used to a running qb....
-
That was last year, he changed his cleats three times before getting it right. I think the Ten game?
-
Bingo, they are rushing to contain, that is how you do it, rush only to the level of the qb, then close in. Lamar would be better suited to go from center, giving him his timing, 3 steps throw. Rather than shot gun, one step wait, throw. He also needs to trust his eyes, throw timing routes, not just throw to an open man. He struggles with that still. Not sure why they kept calling the wide receiver screen, Miami was sitting on that play. Also the check down to the back in the flat on blitzes. Change it up for crying out loud. Rise up, check down over the middle so as to not get passes batted down.
-
It appears, based on the coverage, that that side of the field they were in zone, with the corners in 1/3 coverage meaning Averate had the deep third. Shoot, two linebackers went to the flat, along with Averate... So clearly he should have taken the deep third. This has happened in almost every game this year, a few times it was Humphries, a few it was Averate. The lack of tackling is one issue, but these blown assignmnets, are quite another. I know it is a coinky dink that both players happen to be from Bama & that Bama has this issue as well, has for a few years now, even when playing or especially when playing lesser teams.. Hmmm
-
These blowm coverages are really getting worse instead of better. Why? You watch Bama football and see the samething on their defense. Funny, the two guys most commonly involved in the blown coverage at Averate amd Humphreys; both Bama products. There is no excuse for this- this far into the season, youth is no excuse any longer.

Either way the line has to be fixed, the pass blocking assigments, better players. As I said the other day, any other qb behind this line is gonna get pummeled worse than Lamar. So of he stays, fix the line. Learn how to block the edge blitzes, teach him & the wideouts the proper hot reads. Draft a qb next year with all of the draft capital they have built up, fox the line. The kid from North Caroline looks like a great option; big, strong, can run well. Has good accuracy on ALL of the throws. Sure, he may be a couple of years away from being truly solid..... Either way you need a line that can block, pass block for more than 1 second. Keep in mind, while he did get killes last night, there were times when he had time, had a man open over the middle but did not trust what he saw, pulled it down and tried to run. His slipping is an issue, what can't they get the right cleats during pregame?

If Ifs and buts were like candy and nuts, we would all be happy campers. Too much of one not enough of the other leaves one to sit and wonder.

Don't put too much stock in a Thursday night game, they are just brain farts. Shoot, players are barely on the way to recovery from the Sunday games. Miami is not that good and the Ravens not that bad.. Though it was quite fitting the player the Ravens tried to trade for forced a fumble and returned it for a touchdown
-
Yeah, I was hoping his stutter and go would stop, but he is just not quick enough any more to get away with that type of running
-
Wow, this is the main problem with Thursday night games; one team just runs out of energy. Last night, it was clearly the Ravens. They were a light bulb ready to burn out, shined brightly early then withered away. The line that moved moutains and gave Lamar time, no longer. A defense punishing the Dolphins, no longer able, trying to hard to overcome their energy deficiency, they made the same old mistakes. The play calling once again was spotty, not that it truly mattered when a team just has no life left in their battery, it's gonna die.... As usual, an ugly Thursday night game, this time the better team lost...
-
There is only 1 team that had it's starters combine to miss 56 or more in a season due to injury and went on to win the Super Bowl; the Giants with that lucky helmet catch. Eventually the injuries will catch up to this team, but when is the question...
-
That 10 minute drive was incredible, great effort from that whole unit. It was the turning point of the game
-
Jinksies, another game to watch on tape.... Upside; getting to fast forward through all of the commercials and horrible half time show... Ravens in a walk, but then......
